Has anyone else been driven nuts by hay fever today?

I thought I was coming down with a cold but then my eyes and throat started itching so badly I could have scratched them with twigs. Took an antihistamine and symptoms disappeared for about 40 minutes. Back aagin now. Met office says there is no pollen until Mid March so that's when they resume the pollen count. But they also say hazel and alder are out now.
Any advice? I have so much work to catch up on and I can hardly see to work, my eyes are streaming so badly.

My eyes have been acting up this week. I can never work out exactly which twiggy bastard does it to me but there was blossom out today and blossom means itching chez Thong

LazyLemur · 24/02/2019 19:29

Yep. My sinuses feel like they are full of smouldering coals. Thanks, trees.

WhyTheLongFace · 24/02/2019 19:30

Yes I bloody have. My eyes are proper hayfever-ish.

Usually start antihistamines in bloody March.

Sorry you're all suffering but glad not to be alone. My EYES!!!! I want to pull them out, they are itching so badly. I'm thinking of taking a second one-a-day anthistamine, even though I only had the last one a couple of hours ago.
I'm going to the doctor. I can't stand this for another week.

Me too. Very itchy eyes. Had to take fexofenadine

genome · 24/02/2019 19:56

I have been affected badly all week. I'm tree pollen allergic, I think mostly birch. I'm pregnant too and trying to cope with eye drops and Vaseline. Sad

Tree pollen here too. It has started very early this year. Not amused.

TrainSong · 24/02/2019 20:02

Processedpea - is that one strog? I took Loratinidne as it doesn't make me as sleepy as some do and I'm supposed to be working from home today. Done nothing but scratch.

Sorry - can't see to type.

Strong not strog.

Dhalandchips · 24/02/2019 20:06

Yep, it's bloody started already! It FEBRUARY!!!

E20mom · 24/02/2019 20:07

It's the f'ing tree pollen. Always starts close to early March for me.

PseudoBadger · 24/02/2019 20:09

Me too, also high pollution here (SE)

Linnet · 24/02/2019 20:10

I take fexofenadine, I got it last year from the dr after seeing it mentioned on here. Loratadine wasn’t working for me and I was worried about taking one that made me drowsy but it doesn’t. It’s been great, really helped my symptoms.

greenelephantscarf · 24/02/2019 20:11

yes
it's the alder trees.

Muddysnowdrop · 24/02/2019 20:13

My eyes have been awful today. I’m already on antihistamines (pets) so assumed it was another cold. Quite relieved!

TrainSong · 24/02/2019 20:14

Every year it takes me by surprise. I always forget tree pollen. Grass isn;t so bad. It's TREES. I love them normally. Just hate them today. Bloody alders.
Thanks for the fexofenadine tip. I'm going to ask for that. Especially if it's non drowsy.

I started on Wednesday. I'd rather have snow than hay fever.

PseudoBadger · 24/02/2019 20:33

Fedofanadine is great

PseudoBadger · 24/02/2019 20:35

DYAC

ChallyCreaks · 24/02/2019 20:54

Yes mine started in the week too but is particularly bad this evening.

MaudeLynne · 24/02/2019 20:56

You haven't mentioned it, but do you use anti histamine eye drops?

Grace212 · 24/02/2019 20:59

ah....I started using antihistamine this week....not complaining about the weather but was a tad confused about whether it was hayfever or not!

I use the eye drops too, they're good.
