Help! I need to find the perfect mug

I have been looking for a new mug for ages now and am reaching a dead end. Obviously this is very important to my quality of life. The mug must be beautiful and a decent size. I’ve seen a few nice ones but they’re all too small for a decent cuppa.

I like the size of the Cath Kidson ones after I had one years ago but none of the patterns appeal. I like the shape and thickness of the penguin classics ones but they’re too common and not quite big enough. Please help!

Ikea pint size glass mug. Costs about £1.50. Perfect

@alanthepig Yes! I have the one in the left, would love the one on the right!

Cream Cornwall mugs are the best mugs I've ever tried. We got four after having brews in one at a Cornish friend's house. I haven't used any of my many other mugs since! I am very fussy about tea...

They are quite expensive but they often have 20% off on their website.

Dunoon Nevis for me.

Good size for a decent cuppa and I like the way the rim of the cup is slightly curved.

They come in a wide range of different patterns, some flowery, dog/cat lovers, gardeners, bakers, etc.

Around £15-£20. Bone China.

HTH. Smile

we have a collection of these mugs but all in blue and white and mixed patters - perfect for tea [https://www.burleigh.co.uk/collections/mugs/products/pink-asiatic-pheasants-mug-284ml-0-5pt]

And these for coffee, all the same size and shape but mixed patterns [https://www.pipstudio.com/global/en/floral-mug-xl-hummingbirds-khaki]

I LOVE the giraffe mug and the anthropologie ones linked too

My current favourite mugs are this shape in various designs from Laura Ashley.

I've just ordered this one I'll let you know if it meets with Mr Mann's approval Wink

M&S Palermo Latte mug holds 500ml. I've just ordered 2 more as we like them so much.
I have a few Emma Bridgewater mugs but the inside doesn't look nice. I do put them in the dishwasher though.

TheRattleBag · 15/02/2019 14:08

I think I say it on all the mug threads, but my favourites by far are Iittala Taika mugs.

They hold 400ml and are fine enough for tea but thick enough for coffee. They're slightly over budget and I see you've ordered a new mug already, but I had to mention them! Grin

My fav is from Disneyland Paris I know that’s not much help sorry. Second fav from next couple of years ago round bowl shape good for cuddling.

Hayes Garden World in Ambleside is where I bought my favourite mugs (two the same). Quite big, nice thin china, a gentle curve from the base to the top, white with thin blue wobbly stripes. Comfortable handles.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 15/02/2019 14:18

Dunoon mugs are the business!

Dunoon Wessex is my all time favourite.

caperplips · 15/02/2019 15:24

Beautiful mug OP - I love the shape and the gold but I might have a small problem with the coloured insides!
I am seriously contemplating the 'snooze' mugs from Anthropologie you linked to also - they are just so sweet!!

TheRattleBag I love those mugs too. A beautiful shop in my city had them in stock and I lusted over them but I was collecting the PiP Studio mugs at the time so resisted and have mildly regretted it since.

I can't get on with the Dunoon mugs AT ALL! Wrong shape and far too busy patterns for me.

I do like the Cream Cornwall ones though.

So many beautiful mugs

TheRattleBag · 15/02/2019 16:22

@caperplips
I resisted first time I saw them too (the dark blue one), mainly 'cos of the price (about £15). But I regretted it, and so I got my dad to pick one up for me when he was passing that way (was in a shop about an hour's drive from home). Best of all - he refused payment and insisted on buying it for me and so I got it for nothing!

It's lasted really well and hasn't worn at all, so definitely worth the (his!) money.

I now have four....Blush
