Help! I need to find the perfect mug

I have been looking for a new mug for ages now and am reaching a dead end. Obviously this is very important to my quality of life. The mug must be beautiful and a decent size. I’ve seen a few nice ones but they’re all too small for a decent cuppa.

I like the size of the Cath Kidson ones after I had one years ago but none of the patterns appeal. I like the shape and thickness of the penguin classics ones but they’re too common and not quite big enough. Please help!

I tend to favour ones from Sainsbury’s- they’re the perfect shape, slightly curved sides and a good diameter...they’re good for tea and coffee. And replaceable if there’s any casualties Wink

I found my perfect mug in a garden centre. It's beautiful and I swear my tea tastes better in it than any other one.

As soon as I discovered it's wonderfulness I went back and bought three more because I'm a clumsy bastard and bound to break it before long.

This is my favourite tea mug. It's big and I like the shape as the tea seems to stay warmer in it than my other big mugs. Dunelm do a few designs in this shape. It's very chunky and well made.

I drink instant coffee out of a massive mug about the size of a sports direct one and coffee machine coffee out of one the same shape as this but bigger and prettier. I can't remember where it was from though www.dunelm.com/product/gordon-ramsay-royal-doulton-grey-maze-mug-1000076869

I'm not a fan of a glass mug I'm afraid. My current mug is from Sainsbury's but it was just a stop gap after I broke mine when moving. I looked last week and couldn't find anything I liked.

I like the shape of the Gordon Ramsay Royal Doulton one, but find it a touch boring. The giraffe one is better but not 'it'.

I found the perfect mug in a gift shop in Cornwall last year. Big and thick enough to not be fragile - I'm a clumsy oaf so I need thick crockery! My second favourite is a Sainsburys one, same sort of shape but much thinner.
The shape of that giraffe mug is very pleasing.
What about somewhere like the Range or Dunelm? I find the best mugs are usually cheap and cheerful ones.

I like Emma Bridgewater but I didn't really want to spend more than £15. I don't live near a Dunelm or The Range.

What's your preferred volume of liquid?
And do you prefer straight mugs or more curved? Thick or thin china?

I'm not sure about volume as I've never measured it. Not sport's direct size but big enough to nurse.
I prefer curved but not thin at the bottom like a teacup, more of an even curve. Thick china.

I like Le Crueset mugs. If you live near an outlet mall, you can probably get one for a bit less than £15.

Oooooh I got this loooovely mug recently, think it holds 400ml though the handle is a tad small. Two fingers still fit fine.

The handle should be big enough to get at least a finger through, which rests on the body of the mug.
