Valentines Day do you expect anything?

OH walked in with a lovely bunch of flowers at lunchtime. "Bought them while they were still cheap" he said. I had to laugh, he has ranted about this rip off day since we met. So does your OH or you like a big fuss made on this day for lovers? Or are you more low key?

Nope, I'm forbidden from even wishing dw a Happy Valentine's Day. She thinks it's complete nonsense. She doesn't even like to be intimate on Valentine's Day for fear of being stereotypical. 😂

I don't expect anything and nor do I do anything for it. It doesn't even really flit across my radar.

Eliza9917 · 14/02/2019 16:13

We mark it in some way, we either go out or make more of an effort for dinner at home, we aren't big on cards or presents for it really. It is just commercialised rubbish really but its always nice to go out :)

@Eminybob You could still buy him an Orange. Doing nice things for each other doesn't have to be restricted to Valentine's Day! I only got DH a card this year because he's away on the day, but we're generally thoughtful towards each other, anyway.

MrsMcW · 14/02/2019 17:27

Don't bother with it. I only realised and wished DH Happy Valentines this morning as I was checking the use by date on our milk.

certainlymerry · 14/02/2019 17:32

We used to, but it's become such a commercial rip off. So we just say Happy Valentine's Day and get on with it.

I would like some effort made. It doesn't have to be expensive.

I had dozen red roses and small tin of pretty biscuits, came from Waitrose.

I sent him succulents/cacti in a sturdy pot, from Bunches. Will last a long time.

We are both delighted,

It’s a bit of fun. I got flowers (not red roses, not my thing) and DH got a lovely breakfast on a Poundland heart shaped plate 😂.

I spent my evening in town waiting for DS2 at a classmate’s birthday party and DH spent it watching DS1 play football. I did enjoy people-watching couples and marvelling at the seriousness of some.
