can You recommend a London hotel that’s a bit more of a treat than Premier Inn/Travelodge

My parents spent a lot on my brothers kids last Xmas and because they didn’t know what to get my two offered to pay for a family London Theatre trip. We already had one show booked this year but the on sale date for a show my kids (15 & 17) really want to see goes on sale soon.

We usually stay at Premier Inn or Travelodge for cheapness but my parents are prepared to go a bit more for us.

It needs to be tubable to Central London. Ds is autistic so won’t cope with a longer journey after a show.

Look at Apex hotels. The Temple Court one is in an area very quiet at weekends as it's a business hotel. About 15-20 minute walk max to Covent Garden.

Radiation Blu Hampshire Leicester Square (the food in the restaurant is so good), the Landmark - good if you’re coming into Marylebone and they are brilliant with children, cookies and milk etc. We have stayed in the Savoy with children when they had a Sunday night special and that was out of this world!!

I also love the tower bridge Hilton but think it’s a bit more of a business hotel - they have interconnecting rooms.

Try the flat above the Troubadour for really cool and iconic with lots of space.

Sorry - Radisson Blu Edwardian

Park Plaza County Hall or Westminster are lovely for kids. Nice family rooms available and the kids get park plaza dollars on check in to spend them on ice cream and sweets in the hotel. My two loved this when they were younger.

If you don't mind being a little further out (short taxi ride from Victoria) I can highly recommend the Pestana Chelsea Bridge Hotel. Lovely huge properly conjoined family rooms (more like a mini suite) and a nice spa in the hotel with a pool which is rare in London hotels. We stayed here just before Xmas and will definitely be staying again.

If you’re going into Euston and do decide to do Premier Inn, go to the St Pancras one. It’s about 3 minutes walk from the Euston one (I could see the entrance sign for it from outside the Euston one’s bar entrance). And having stayed at both it just seemed nicer.

HAVe a look at SACO (serviced apartment company)

We stayed in the on3 in Bath and it was great, cheaper than a city centre hotel, but w3 had a full kitchen and seating area in our studio apartment. They have a number of London sites, including 2 bedroom apartments,

I am checking out recommendations.

As a family we’ve stayed at Premier inns at Euston, Kings Cross, Holborn & South Kensington the latter being my favourite.

I'm currently in a premier Inn and the room has a king size bed and a couch that could easily sleep a child.

Another suggestion for the Radisson Blu near Euston.

Also in that area I stayed at the California Hotel. Smaller than the Radisson, quirkier so may not be your DS's thing but DD and I loved it. Pretty sure they do family rooms as well as the usual twins/doubles.

We stayed at the Novotel at London Bridge. it was a few years back but was very good.
