@misskiki69

I just listened to your song, I’m in floods. So relevant for me right now.

cricketmum84 · 10/02/2019 22:11

Piece by piece by jelly clarkaon. Breaks me every time thinking back to my 6 year old self as my dad walked away and then looking at my husband and how close he is to our daughter. Could cry now just writing this!!

cricketmum84 · 10/02/2019 22:11

Dancing in the dark

When dad diagnosed with terminal illness we discussed his funeral arrangements, he had a lovely church service and this was what he wanted when being brought in to.the crematorium after the church service.

Lots of people came from church to the crem and due to the time it took to get everyone in we got to listen to the while song as he was brought in.

I just remember him being carried down while Bruce was singing, never realised what a heartfelt song oit was and made me thinking dad's youth, growing up,forging his way through adulthood and his life had ended yet he told us he couldn't of been happier x

Crunchymum · 10/02/2019 22:52

Many Rivers To Cross - Jimmy Cliff.

Breathtakingly sad and beautiful

KrazyKatlady · 10/02/2019 23:06

rainy days and mondays - the carpenters.
ordinary world - duran duran.
Friends will be friends- queen (played at a friends funeral)
Somewhere over the rainbow - eva cassidy
fix you - coldplay

misskiki69 · 10/02/2019 23:19

@proudbrows It's still relevant to me too. My break up is very raw. I cannot listen to more than a few seconds of that song, it literally sends chills up my spine and makes my heart ache. Hope you're OK. Xx

MissLanesAmericanCousin · 11/02/2019 01:00

This song makes me stare off into space when I'm listening to it. Then I suddenly realize that my face is wet because tears have been falling from eyes, and I don't know why. It's painfully beautiful.

Colin Hay - I Just Don't Think I'll Ever Get Over You

Andromeida59 · 11/02/2019 01:48

Radio GaGa - my DF and I saw Queen 12 years ago and I remember this one so vividly. He died at 56 so a lot of the lyrics make me think of him. Same with Mr Blue Sky - played at his funeral.
Make you feel my love - Adele - we're trying to conceive and I see this as a note to our (hopefully) first born. It might sound daft but I have so much love for them already.

WitchSharkadder · 11/02/2019 02:01

We are Sailing, Rod Stewart. I never really liked the song but it was playing on the radio when I got the phone call to say my grandad had died and it takes me right back to that moment.

My Hero, Foo Fighters. Played at the funeral of my son’s friend. My DS sobbed when it was played and it was the first time I couldn’t make something better for him. He just had to deal with losing someone so young and so close to him. Utterly broke me.

elliedea · 11/02/2019 02:33

Waiting for my real life to begin - Colin Hay always gets me and the book of love by Peter Gabriel

Graphista · 11/02/2019 02:36

"Wires - Athlete" this is the one I was coming on to say, dd and I were lucky to survive her birth for a variety of reasons, she was then in scbu for a week, there was one point we were urgently called down so the lyrics

Running down corridors
Through automatic doors

Just instantly takes me back to that night.

She's a lanky streak of 18 now!

I was recent reminded I hate Coldplay - fix you. It was in the charts at the time I split from my ex & I felt broken. Can't bear to hear it.

"Tears in Heaven- Eric Clapton" again was in the charts during a difficult time for me (1st mc) so I can't listen to it now.

Angel - Sarah maclachlan (2nd mc)

Far too many that have been played at funerals or were the favourite songs of people I've lost. My grans in particular was actually a fun upbeat one and always seems to come on the radio when I'm having a particularly shit day! Thanks gran.

Some that just move me generally

Jesus to a child - George Michael
Hand to mouth - george Michael
Who wants to live forever - queen
Both sides now - Joni Mitchell
Fast car - Tracy chapman
Nobody knows - mike and the mechanics
Hurt - Johnny cash (although it's partly for being a fan of person of interest RIP joss)
My immortal - evanescence
The verve - the drugs don't work
The carpenters - masquerade

Thanks to all who have been or going through tough times

Walnutwhipster · 11/02/2019 02:56

Trouble by Coldplay. There are others but my brother told his friends it was the song he wanted played at his funeral. We had no idea until they came forward when he died in an accident weeks later, aged 19.

Makirocks23 · 11/02/2019 03:08

The scientist, my eldest was born as this was playing, it turned out to be very apt as he was later diagnosed with a rare syndrome and it’s not going to be easy for him.

He had many a night up screaming in pain as a baby and we had a playlist of bedtime music he used to calm down to, I can’t listen to any of them now without welling up.

Gingernaut · 11/02/2019 03:35

Neil Diamond - What's it Gonna Be?

When I first heard it, it was as if it was speaking just to me.

First you're runnin' one way
Then you run another
Thinkin' you'd discover
What you really need

Runnin' in circles
Gonna get you nowhere
Why you want to go there?
Where's it gonna lead?

All the missed chances, lack of focus and running round in idiotic circles trying to get inconsequential stuff done like it's the most important stuff.

Wide Awake by Lacuna Coil, it just makes me think of happier times with my ex-h.

Breathe No More by Evanescence, they played it when I saw them live in 2017 and I just cried the whole way through that and My Heart Is Broken which followed. Missing also makes me blub, I first heard it when I was 17 and became very relevant when I left my husband last year. Fallen came out the year I turned 15 and that album saved my life, but I don't really cry over the songs, unless I'm in a funny mood and then My Last Breath sets me off.

Amy Lee's You're A Star and Speak To Me make me cry. I don't know why You're A Star makes me cry, it's a happy song!

Somewhere, Memories and Frozen, all by Within Temptation. They're songs that set me off, especially the video for Frozen.

My December by Linkin Park, especially now. Sad

I'm sure there's more, I listen to a lot of music!

OutOntheTilez · 11/02/2019 04:25

“Time” by The Alan Parsons Project. Heartbreakingly beautiful.

“Alone Again” by Gilbert O’Sullivan. About loss. God, what a depressing song!

“Tears in Heaven” by Eric Clapton. When you know the story behind the song, you can’t help but sob.

“I Will Remember You” by Sarah McLachlan. Something about the line, “Don’t let your life pass you by . . .”

“Don’t Cry Out Loud” by Melissa Manchester. Years ago when my younger son was about six, he heard this for the first time and burst into tears.

“Poetry Man” by Phoebe Snow. I was going through a difficult time in my life and for some reason I kept listening to this song.

This is nothing you’ll hear on the radio, but just thinking of the music to “Schindler’s List” will make me cry. If you’ve not seen the movie it may not mean anything. The song fits the movie perfectly.

Clawdy · 11/02/2019 08:36

The saddest break-up song is Roy Orbison's "It's Over". 'Golden days before they end.....'

Ilovecrumpets · 11/02/2019 10:35

The Johnny Cash above has reminded me another - ‘if you could read my mind’

My ex of 20 years left last year - this song always made me emotional, but I find it so difficult to listen to now. Particularly the line ‘you won’t read that book again because the endings just too hard to take’. Just encapsulates that feeling of losing my past and future at once - and the desperate sadness that you just have to try and get to a place and accept.

Chocolou · 11/02/2019 11:05

Gary Jules mad world. Reminds me of my mum dying.

Leona Lewis Run has me in floods. No reason really. Heard it this morning and it had me going. I am a hormonal mess.

needsleepzzz · 11/02/2019 11:08

Lonestar - amazed, no idea why but always makes me cry, same with some Christmas carols
