Because I have trouble picking just one! If I have to, I'd say mine is Whisper by Evanescence. Yes it's depressing but I think of it as my happy song. Smile

@CoperCabana The Source feat. Candi Staton. I really hate the Florence version, it's sacrilege! Grin

CoperCabana · 08/02/2019 14:20

@peachgreen - glad I checked!

All duly added!

The Bewlay brothers by David Bowie.

BurningGubbins · 08/02/2019 14:34

With You I’m Born Again by Billy Preston and Syreeta. If you can see the video of them singing it on TOTP you should, the chemistry between them is magic. It’s such a beautiful, heartfelt song.

Good call on Waterloo Sunset, which weirdly evokes a similar emotion - I really miss London!

Housewife2010 · 08/02/2019 14:39

Wild World by Cat Stevens and Fly Me to the Moon by Frank Sinatra.

LynnLynnLynn · 08/02/2019 14:42

"I wanna dance with somebody" by Whitney Houston because:

  • It's completely of its time but also timeless.
  • She's got an absolutely beautiful voice on it.
  • You can't help but dance to it
  • You can't help but smile when you listen to it.

Marvin Gaye's "Heard it through the grapevine" is a pretty close second just because of his completely beautiful voice.

So hard, I'm passionate about music but the track that I've loved the longest and would call my all time favourite is Street Life by Roxy Music.

redyawn · 08/02/2019 14:46

I don't think I can give one answer to this..... it depends on mood, time of day etc

I often wonder what my Desert Island Discs would be. Some thoughts:

Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen
American Pie, Don McLean
California Dreamin', Beach Boys
Super Trouper, ABBA
Killing Me Softly, Roberta Flack
Raise Your Glass, P!nk
Mr Blue Sky, ELO
Just Another Day, Jon Secada
Rule the World, Take That

Iris DeMent - Let The Mystery Be.

AlpacaPicnic · 08/02/2019 15:54

So many amazing songs already mentioned, I love In My Life and also I've just seen a face by The Beatles but my always and forever favourite song is
Sitting on the dock of the bay.

It just makes me feel so peaceful, and longing for a calm serene day just watching the waves and the clouds.

MrsFlump · 08/02/2019 16:12

I have so many favourites but I do love a good ballad so I would have to say Against All Odds by Phil Collins.

CoperCabana · 08/02/2019 16:18

So far got 72 songs! This is keeping me busy.

Chocolateandabook2019 · 08/02/2019 16:23

Are ‘Friends’ Electric - Tubeway Army.

Introduced me to the talent that is Gary Numan.

Plus every track that @redyawn mentioned.

Just listening to Fleetwood Mac at the moment, fabulous.

MrsTerryPratcett · 08/02/2019 16:25

Life on Mars

David Bowie RIP.

AnnabelleLecter · 08/02/2019 16:25

Unfair question, I have thousands.
But my song choice of the week is:

Love removal machine by The Cult.

Chocolateandabook2019 · 08/02/2019 16:26

@MrsFlump, I love Against All Odds by Phil Collins, and A Groovy Kind of Love.

Against All Odds was on Smooth radio the other day, there was me doing the drum bit on the steering wheel...

SymphonyofShadows · 08/02/2019 16:30

Parade by Magazine, but Relentless by The Stranglers comes a close second

Chocolateandabook2019 · 08/02/2019 16:32

@AnnabelleLecter, yes it is an unfair question, I have loads too 🙂

ELO Mr Blue Sky is another favourite of mine. I’m sure there are quite a few people who pretend they are conducting the orchestral bit at the end with their eyes shut...

Awrite · 08/02/2019 16:34

Black by Pearl Jam

GetOffTheTableMabel · 08/02/2019 16:34

R.E.S.P.E.C.T by Aretha Franklin

DareDevil223 · 08/02/2019 16:35

@SymphonyofShadow

Good call, I'm a huge Magazine fan but I'd probably go for Rhythm of Cruelty as my top track Smile

Purplehammer · 08/02/2019 16:36
