What do you remember watching on a Sunday as a kid?

Daughter and I have had our bath and I just had a flash of memory back to the days of watching Bullseye, songs of praise and Howard's way on a Sunday nights.

I even went on YouTube to put a bit of Bully on.. what is it with 6yr olds that don't appreciate old TV?

Just remembered Battlestar Galactica.

AFingerofFudge · 03/02/2019 22:32

Me and my brother were allowed "tea in front of the telly" on a Sunday evening. I do it now with my DC's. A tray was brought in with jam sandwiches, a bag of crisps to share (usually football shaped) and a penguin bar! We'd watch Worzel Gummidge, The Ghosts of Motley Hall, Black Beauty, The Phoenix and the Magic Carpet. Just before lunch we used to watch "CHiPS". I used to have daydreams that I'd be in trouble and Jon and Ponch would rescue me!Grin

I used to get up and watch fort boyard, then there was another kids game show thing but I can’t remember the name, then in the evening would have a bath, watch An episode of Kenan and kel before we were subjected to heartbeat 😴

In the early-mid 70s I remember watching Heidi and Sunday Night at the Palladium. Was Open All Hours on Sundays, I seem to remember it being on then. That's Life too.

In my teens and early 20s I never missed The Wonder Years and The Clothes Show. I seem to remember Beverly Hills 90210 being on Sunday tea times for a while too.

Was Upstairs Downstairs a Sunday night?
Also there was always a costume drama for Sunday like Great Expectations or Oliver Twist. There was one on Edward vii that I wierdly remember. And the clangers or a 5 min Tom and Jerry. We used to cheer when sometimes there would be another one played straight after. Oh the excitementShock

All creatures great and small and darling buds of may.

MadisonAvenue · 03/02/2019 22:46

Oh, and in the 70s I'd watch Star Soccer with my Dad and Grandad, that started my love of football.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 03/02/2019 22:49

Network 7 in the morning , followed by the Walton’s.
Howard’s Way in the evening which was superb.

I remember Farmer's Diary on a Sunday afternoon. Hated that! And Two's Company with Elaine Stritch on a Sunday evening after That's Life.

Flying Doctors? Was that a programme?

Later in childhood - Last of the summer wine and Ballykissangel! I avoided antiques roadhow by having my bath at that time Grin

Does anyone remember a tv show about a zoo vet? Called something like one by one or two by two? I may have made that up though as the only memory I have is a man with a beard and possibly him doing something with a lion. Would love to see it again!

wowfudge · 03/02/2019 23:29

One by One Pete?

franksidebottom · 03/02/2019 23:32

Sakeofpete · 03/02/2019 23:35

I wonder if I'm mixing two shows up? Googled one by one and the man doesn't seem familiar at all. Was sure the vet had a big beard... will keep looking thank you 😊

As a teen I loved Network 7 which was late morning I think

Arnoldillo · 03/02/2019 23:49

I think although I'm not sure that No Limits (with that Jenny woman and a bloke I don't remember) was on on a Tuesday. I remember Ben Elton taking the piss out of it: here we are in Hereford and it's really historic and it's got lots of old buildings and here's Maria Vidal with Bodyrock.

Sundays were, variously: the Muppets, Hart to Hart (when they met, it was moider), classic drama like Jane Eyre, starring a woman with a big mole that you weren't allowed to mention, nature programmes like Flight of the Condor (that one was ace, all about South/Central America), Howard's Way when a bit older.

Arnoldillo · 03/02/2019 23:50

Was network 7 the one that had Sam Spade?

Holidayshopping · 03/02/2019 23:50

Jenny Powell!
