Revamping the living room. Want to buy new curtains but no matter how often someone explains it to me I cannot get my head round how to measure my window to buy the correct size.
I work in Finance - why can I not get my head round these numbers?
What Grown Up stuff can you not do?

Do up a bra the right way round Blush

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 02/02/2019 13:27

Put lipstick on properly. It always looks like a child has done it.

JustanotherCHRISTMASuser01 · 02/02/2019 13:28

Put makeup on I look like coco the clown

GlitterPixie · 02/02/2019 13:30

Drive although I never knew that this was something people looked down on until I joined Mumsnet Hmm

curlycat · 02/02/2019 13:32

I can't do a bra properly either

Keep receipts 🙈 even for the expensive stuff!
I hate them being in my purse or hand bag and end up chucking them...and you can guarantee something I've recently bought decides too stop working and ' Yep I've chucked the receipt!'...🤦🏻‍♀️

DIY. I can fix things, I can physically place items in a room, and I’m a whizz at organising. But I haven’t got the foggiest when it comes to things like building flat pack or putting up shelves.

I’ve got a drill, a spirit level, a hammer, all sorts of tools, I feel like I can do it, I watch YouTube videos, but when it comes to it I am utterly useless. It makes me feel like I’m not a proper grown up yet!

GissASquizz · 02/02/2019 13:40

Drive. I have the coordination of a pissed sloth. Also the reaction times.

Bumblebee39 · 02/02/2019 13:41

Drive Sad

I see a theme occurring

MaMisled · 02/02/2019 13:41

I can't clean the oven or go to the dentist but, in my defence, i'm only 54!

umpteennamechanges · 02/02/2019 13:42

Also DIY.

I'm awesome at flat pack. But I get too scared to try DIY. I buy all the tools and things needed but then chicken out because I'm scared I'll just make a complete mess of it and ruin our walls and then cost us more to put it right.

So I end up calling someone in...all the while amassing various unused tools Blush

umpteennamechanges · 02/02/2019 13:43

I have researched DIY courses though and am thinking of doing one to get over it!

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 02/02/2019 14:09

Swim. People have tried to teach me many times, over the years, but I swim like a brick. I've ensured both DC can not only swim but had lifesaving classes so they can rescue me from the drink if the worst happens, but that's assuming they're actually with me at the time. Maybe I should wear a life jacket at all times.

TryingToDrinkMoreWater · 02/02/2019 14:27

Find my way around without a map
Sit on a chair without wanting to swing my legs (I resist!)
Some DIY
Do my hair nicely so it stays that way
Apply eye liner
Say no to people that I like

AlpacaPicnic · 02/02/2019 14:28

Drive. Let's start a mn bus club!

One thing I hate doing as a grown up is contacting builders / plumbers etc. We have a knackered flat roof. I know it's knackered, it's leaking and the plaster below it is starting to crack and blow (I think that's the right term) and it definitely needs replacing. I wish I could just email someone and have them turn up and just do it. I don't want to talk to a roofer and make decisions about fascias and fibreglass. I just want a new roof.

blibblibs · 02/02/2019 14:29

Fry an egg.

bigbluebus · 02/02/2019 14:43

Read a map the right way up - I have to turn it around so it's facing the same way that I'm going.

curlycat · 02/02/2019 14:46

Reading all these I'm starting to think that at 48 years old I'm not actually a grown up.
I can't do a lot of stuff on this thread

Make up!

@GlitterPixie yes didn't you know if you can't drive your a lazy, selfish leech expecting others to be your personal taxi. Especially when it's so cheap, convenient and easy to get regular driving lessons and the various tests that come with it. Oh wait...

iklboo · 02/02/2019 14:54

Drive
Ride a bike
Apply eyeliner
Do up a bra at the back

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 02/02/2019 14:57

Drive
Pour a decent pint
Walk in stilettos

That’s about it, thankfully!

LatentPhase · 02/02/2019 15:00

Can’t do up a bra

Apply makeup

Drill a hole in the wall

Keep track of my finances

But am only 46 years young

LatentPhase · 02/02/2019 15:01

Oh yeah, stilettos - May as well be stilts

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 02/02/2019 15:17

High heels here too - I watch people who can sashay across a room in 4" heels with awe and wonderment.

Toddlerteaplease · 02/02/2019 15:17

Long division!
