How much water do you drink?

On a daily basis.

I've recently started tracking my water and on average, realised I only drink about 0.5l a day.

I don't know exactly how much but water is pretty much all I drink. Don't like tea, coffee, fizzy juice... even diluting juice has to be VERY weak or it's too sweet.

PerfectionistProcrastinator · 31/01/2019 17:43

Water sometimes 1 or 2 pints a day. But if we’re talking fluids including tea coffee and dilutable squash I have about 6 - 8 pints per day. I also try to drink a bit in the night if wake up. My bladder can feel dehydrated if I don’t drink enough.

ragged · 31/01/2019 17:44

Buckets of tea (mostly not black tea) but very little tap water in winter. Never liked the taste. Bit more tap water in summer.

Fluffy40 · 31/01/2019 17:54

Very little, plenty of tea , beer, juices.

NoPhelange · 31/01/2019 17:56

About 10 cups of coffee a day 😁😳 only in summer do I really drink water or diluted juice, I just want warm drinks during cold weather.

Llioed · 31/01/2019 17:58

I actually really love drinking plain water. I occasionally have got chocolates if I meet up with family or friends for cuppas (hate coffee and tea) and occasionally may put diluted juice in. But mostly water - average of 2 litres per day (least I drink is 1.5 litres but that’s not often). On days I exercise that goes up to 2.5 litres of water I drink.
I just really like water. But as others say it’s overall fluid intake, as long it’s not 2 litres of sugary drinks, etc.

HildaZelda · 31/01/2019 18:00

Nowhere near enough. There was a similar thread on here last year and a few people were claiming to drink 8-9 litres a day!

HaveYouNamechangedForThis · 31/01/2019 18:00

2-3 large glasses of water (probably 0.3 ltr per each), and about 6-8 cups of tea (occasionally instant coffee). I feel hydrated enough but when I add another large glass or two of water in per day I do notice my face looks fresher.

So I guess I do drink 2 litres of fluid per day although half of it's from tea!

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 31/01/2019 18:02

I can't live by the drink when you're thirsty. I am never thirsty for some reason so have to remember to have a drink. I have suffered dehydration a few times.

PivotPivotPivottt · 31/01/2019 18:06

Up until the last couple of weeks I drank none! Drank nothing at all but irn bru (at least 3 or 4 cans a day). I cut it out completely and bought one of those water bottles off Amazon that show how much you're drinking. I drink a full bottle if I've been at the gym and spend the rest of the day sipping at it or filling up with diluting blackcurrant. It has to be freezing cold though I usually stick it in the freezer for a while. I definitely don't drink enough but a hell of a lot better than what I was before Blush.

PinaColada1 · 31/01/2019 19:22

It would be interesting to see how much fluids we really should be drinking.

I quickly looked up, it says 20% of our fluids are from food, the rest from all drinks.

Valentine19 · 31/01/2019 19:22

2 litres of water a day.
Just tap or bottled - whatever is to hand.
Have done for years after suffering from a kidney stone and repeated UTIs

Saffzy · 31/01/2019 19:27

2-3 750ml bottles of water, 1 coffee and 1 cup of green tea or peppermint tea while at work and 1 750ml bottle at home.

JingsMahBucket · 31/01/2019 19:45

All the posters loudly proclaiming that it's just a water conspiracy: your urine must be as dark as coffee if you're so hell bent on sticking it to the man/water companies. 🙄😂

Stop giving people advice to just "drink when you're thirsty" because that really doesn't apply. Lots of people are thirsty but they don't actually know it. Most of the time when people think they're hungry, they're actually thirsty and just end up eating when a glass of water would help satiate them.

My OH didn't grow up drinking water a lot but he's gotten better in the last couple of years due to my nagging and help. He would constantly lick his lips but not actually drink anything. He eventually started asking why he was feeling dizzy from time to time or about some other symptoms, like dry skin, etc. I just kept repeating "drink some water" along with the reasons why it's affecting him. He finally clued in and drinks several glasses a day now. He's nowhere near where he should be but he's getting better.

PinaColada1 · 31/01/2019 20:37

I think the nhs website says 6-8 glasses or around 1.2 litres

Bigsighall · 31/01/2019 20:45

Loads. Litres of the stuff. I’m always thirsty! It doesn’t seem to come out the other end tho so I guess I must need it / sweat it out?!

Feefsie · 31/01/2019 20:46

I drink tea, water, herbal teas,. Food has a lot of water in it, especially fruit, veg and salads. People don’t need to be glugging loads of water everyday.

PhilomenaButterfly · 31/01/2019 20:47

No idea, I always have a water bottle on the go.

TickleMyPickle · 31/01/2019 20:48

I drink 3L every day along with 2 cups of tea, I’ve always drank lots of water, even before it was fashionable! I have no cellulite at all ( despite being 20lbs heavier than my ideal weight) and people always comment on my skin.

theworldistoosmall · 31/01/2019 20:55

I drink at least 3 litres of water a day. Sometimes I might have a coffee, hot chocolate, fizzy on top.
I've still managed to be hospitalised for dehydration.
Feeling thirsty is a main side effect for a few meds I'm on. If I ignore the thirst I start to feel really nauseous. Have passed out a few times as well. But the side effect is manageable compared to other options,

WatchingTheWheels85 · 31/01/2019 21:00

4l but it's all I drink literally just plain water.

applesauce1 · 31/01/2019 21:03

Loads. Water is my favourite drink. Probably drink around 3litres a day on average. I have a water bottle with a straw and refill it about 4 times a day. Coffee in the morning and maybe a herbal tea in the evening. I just bloody love tap water. Good for the skin.

To everyone who doesn't drink any water. What do you drink when you're exercising? I can't imagine having a cup or tea or a fizzy drink while exercising.

Bouchie · 31/01/2019 21:06

I love water. about 4 pints a day
about 3 teas and a glass of wine

Bouchie · 31/01/2019 21:07

weirdly I much prefer water that isn't fresh but is about 12 hours in a glass. No idea why.

Fluffypot333 · 31/01/2019 21:14

Not enough .Probably a litre a day and a mug of tea in the morning.
