To wish it would snow heavily?

I LOVE snow. I'm like a small child, absolutely love the stuff. Yes it can be such a pain in the arse when things don't cope, but I still love it to bits. Where I grew up, my parents get very heavy snow every few years, and I absolutely love it when it does snow there. Last year they had 12ft drifts and about a foot overall. A few years before that when I was there we had a Code Red Weather Warning for blizzards and it was fun.

Of course I understand it's only fun if you prepare, but it's very hard on services and the elderly.

Where I live in the south, we rarely get any snow at all, or if we do a few inches tops.

We were forecast snow today, I got excited but all we got was a last minute downgrade to rain.... which it is :(

Not a flake to be seen in Wiltshire.

I too am DESPERATE for snow, as my workplace has a good chance of closing.

punishmepunisher · 29/01/2019 21:02

It's coming down heavily and settling in Cambridgeshire.

recyclingbin · 29/01/2019 21:04

I am jealous, nothing at all here in Oxon.

I was hoping for a snow day tomorrow, bloody Accuweather is showing me heavy snow and there's nowt.

GinTimeAtHome · 29/01/2019 21:19

tinydancer88 I’m also in Wiltshire and we had some it just didn’t settle!

Op sorry but I hate the blasted stuff I’ve probably spent too much time in a gritter and have grown adverse to it Grin however as I’m not working doing that this year maybe a snow day would be fun Grin

ilovesooty · 29/01/2019 21:21

I hate the stuff. My workplace won't close and we have to get there. If anyone doesn't it comes out of annual leave.

isseywithcats · 29/01/2019 21:24

i dont want heavy snow as where we live it will mean a three mile walk for me to work cos our place says just make sure you leave home in time to get there they dont close for snow

LaurieFairyCake · 29/01/2019 21:25

Just pissing with rain in London

Cailleach · 29/01/2019 21:27

No, because I cycle four and a half miles to work and otherwise I have to walk it. And on the way back there are fearsome hills.

Steamfan · 29/01/2019 21:28

I hate the stuff. My DH had to find a travelodge to stay last week as he couldnt get home, and if he could get home he might not have been albe to get in the next day. So, we're out of pocket because of bloody snow. I love snow, it’s one of my favourite things in the world, but we never get any here in South West Wales. Sad

bobstersmum · 29/01/2019 21:31

It snowed for hours here today but didn't stick! I was so disappointed.

GreyGardens88 · 29/01/2019 21:34

Agree. We have the worlds most boring weather in the UK

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 29/01/2019 21:35

I love snow too much. I literally get more excited than my own child.
After about two days of it I hate it and wonder why anyone could possibly love snow so much Blush

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 29/01/2019 21:36

Huge flurries all afternoon and evening here. We're housebound with an invalid teen so couldn't go out and love it so we put the fire on, read books and watched it come down.

Set to snow heavily here Thursday, Friday and Saturday, hopefully we'll be able to at least go and stick our tongues out and catch some flakes.

Dowser · 29/01/2019 21:53

Ugh
Hate, hate, hate it
North east and ha have escaped so far.

flatpackbox · 29/01/2019 22:00

Not for me either this week. I have got to drive in the northern Yorkshire Dales to visit an elderly aunt on Friday whatever happens, not too far for me at all but some of the roads become treacherous very quickly.

brizzledrizzle · 29/01/2019 22:01

No because I will be in rural wales and have to get back for my Dcs or they will be home on their own.

CakeNinja · 29/01/2019 22:04

Selfishly I would love the heavy dumping of snow we were PROMISED!!! Weather apps kept pushing it back further. We have had some paltry flakes but it rained earlier and nothing stuck.
I am sulking like a small child because I’d have liked a snow day with the dc tomorrow!

Elfinablender · 29/01/2019 22:05

I'm like you op, I like a bit of snowmaggedon to liven things up a bit. But I am in the North East and there's not one solitary bloody snowflake to be seen.

Oldraver · 29/01/2019 22:05

Im in West Oxfordshire and that fuck we haven't had any yet and I am hoping we dont.

We cant get off our drive in the snow, both work places are impossible, OH's especially as it's down a one track drive. We loose money not being at work

Quite frankly you're a fuckwit wishing for snow

Elfinablender · 29/01/2019 22:07

Quite frankly you're a fuckwit wishing for snow

Yes, it's the wishing for snow that tips the balance Confused

flatpackbox · 29/01/2019 22:09

We had a couple of hours of proper snow today in North Yorkshire but there isn’t much on the ground. I think it is too cold to snow here for the next couple of days, high of -2, low of -8.

Stch · 29/01/2019 22:12

We've had snow on the ground for a couple of days now (N Scotland). I love it, always makes the area I live in look really beautiful. Think the sheep are getting sick of it though!
