Genuine question!..,, How much do you fart?!

I’m wondering if there’s something wrong with me, or my diet!

I seem to (or it feels like) I just need to fart ALL the time!..... Like for most of the day I feel them coming and then I am holding them in.

I have a fairly normal balanced diet, don’t eat much junk, maybe a choc bar or packet of crisps once or twice a week. Bread maybe once a fortnight. Don’t eat ready meals. Take out maybe once a couple of months.

Is farting regularly through the day normal?

Typical food for the day...

Porridge or eggs

Salad with some sort of grain (bulgar wheat, cous cous type stuff) usually with fish or a cheese such as halloumi. Lots of med type veggies.

Chicken and veg for dinner, or veggie soup

Well I have IBS so if I don't stick to low FODMAP - a lot!

Low FODMAP then I don't really notice so it can't be that much.

Have you noticed any pattern with particular foods?

UpTree · 23/01/2019 22:38

FODMAP?

Not really any pattern, just consistent for a long time now

I fart constantly Blush doesn’t really seem to matter what I eat but definitely worse if O drink coffee and fizzy juice. Maybe I should see a doctor Confused

anotherdaygoesby · 23/01/2019 22:39

I farted constantly before being diagnosed with coeliac disease. Always eaten healthily. I thought it was the roasted veg making me fart but it was the couscous!

UpTree · 23/01/2019 22:41

Oh, so it could be coffee or the cous cous!

I din’t have a regular routine with what I eat eah week but I do drink coffee every day!

I fart loads. Probably dozens of farts per day. At work i seem to manage because sitting down sort of keeps it in. I let rip in the loo or empty corridors!

I suspect that I have IBS or similar but I can't be bothered pursuing it because there's no way I'm having a restricted diet.

You don't seem to eat many carbs so maybe that's part of the issue, too much veg?

GottenGottenGotten · 23/01/2019 22:46

I fart more when I eat more wheat.. So it could be the bulgur wheat and cous cous?

Maybe try quinoa instead?

donajimena · 23/01/2019 22:50

Usually in the morning. Y'know the overnight build up Grin
I rarely feel the need but I don't know if this is healthy. That said, my two teens are absolutely rancid and their diet is awful Confused

DragginBallsEEEE · 23/01/2019 23:04

Looooaaadddds!! I have IBS and hold them in while out and about but by the evening they are just bursting out of my with serious volume.

Luckily DP is well used to it but some of them still surprise him.

Kemer2018 · 23/01/2019 23:06

Only when i eat junk food.
I'm not affected with salad, high fibre.

ashtrayheart · 23/01/2019 23:07

Same as in not too much when low FODMAP, a ridiculous amount when I don’t stick to it!

ItsameAmario · 23/01/2019 23:08

I think I fart averagely.

Until my period is due then I'm like a hyperactive trumpet.

OhDearHowSadNeverMind · 23/01/2019 23:21

I fart a lot but always carefully. You may read into that what you will! 😂😂

GypsyRoseTea · 23/01/2019 23:24

Loads but less since I started a probiotic supplement

GertrudeWilloughby · 24/01/2019 00:28

A whole lot more than I used to! Coincides with eating more fibre. Ah well. Wherever you be let your wind go free. In church or chapel, let it rattle. 💨

Whisky2014 · 24/01/2019 00:30

Loads!

UpTree · 24/01/2019 06:15

Try eating rice instead of cous cous, wheat is notorious gut irritant. And bu y some extra strong mints to eat when it occurs, should calm it fairly quickly.

SureIusedtobetaller · 24/01/2019 06:35

A lot. So much.
I suspect some kind of intolerance but don’t want to know really!

Impicciona · 24/01/2019 06:36

It's the grain. I went keto which means no grains or cereals. Never fart anymore and I was really bad. I wasn't able to control them Sad

HoraceCope · 24/01/2019 06:38

Well, not at work, but sometimes on the way back to the car, or in the car.

BestBeforeYesterday · 24/01/2019 06:39

I used to fart loads before I was diagnosed with lactose intolerance. Now, as long as I stick to a lactose free diet I maybe fart once a day.
