Who's your favourite minor character in Harry Potter?

I think mine is Oliver Wood.

I reread the whole lot over the summer and realised I really missed Quidditch in general when it receded in importance after PoA!

Gilderoy Lockhart - it’s a pity we never properly saw him again after Chamber of Secrets. I would love to read his Twitter feed in the age of social media.

Least favourite though- controversially, Tonks was a bit annoying- very brave, but her quirkiness just came across as a bit contrived.

Mr Olivander, i love the way he speaks, he has such a calming voice.

I kinda love Dudley’s gang as petty baddies.

It's a shame the films have taken over my original mental images from the books.

Harry is so insipid in the films.

I like Luna Lovegood. Gentle, kind, and wise.

Lee Johnson in the books was really funny with his quidditch commentary. It didn't translate to the films as well.

Luna lovegood is so gentle and kind. Almost ethereal. Not sure if she counts as a minor character though?

Luna Lovegoods father - I know he gave them away to the death eaters but they had his daughter! I can forgive him for that.

Wood as well. The actor was a friend of my brothers.

Oooh I'd forgotten about Lee Johnson, he was ace in the earlier books - you're right, they kind of threw him away in the films. I'm trying to remember what happen to him, I know he vanishes a bit after the twins leave Hogwarts but I don't really remember him at all in HBP or at the Battle of Hogwarts?

Mrs Figg. I just have this lovely image of her as a batty cat lady but of course she looks out for Harry while he’s growing up.

Not sure what counts as a minor character but Arthur Weasley is adorable, hilarious and lovely and he’s my fave. Thought the film casting was spot on too

Lockhart makes a short appearance in Order of the Phoenix book that is pretty funny.

Tonks really annoyed me, even the name sets my teeth on edge. See also Dobby.

But then I liked Cormac McCladden, so maybe I’m not the best judge of character.

^ THIS! There is no one who could have played him better than Rik and I still cannot believe Peeves was pulled. He is a bloody good character!
