Who's your favourite minor character in Harry Potter?

I think mine is Oliver Wood.

I reread the whole lot over the summer and realised I really missed Quidditch in general when it receded in importance after PoA!

Gilderoy Lockhart - it’s a pity we never properly saw him again after Chamber of Secrets. I would love to read his Twitter feed in the age of social media.

Least favourite though- controversially, Tonks was a bit annoying- very brave, but her quirkiness just came across as a bit contrived.

Mr Olivander, i love the way he speaks, he has such a calming voice.

BoyFromTheBigBadCity · 20/01/2019 22:14

Agree with Oliver Wood.

The ghosts.

I kinda love Dudley’s gang as petty baddies.

Dudley who makes a complete u-turn despite his parents.
Angelina Johnson.

PerverseConverse · 21/01/2019 00:29

Oliver Wood was gorgeous in the film.

It's a shame the films have taken over my original mental images from the books.

Harry is so insipid in the films.

I like Luna Lovegood. Gentle, kind, and wise.

Lee Johnson in the books was really funny with his quidditch commentary. It didn't translate to the films as well.

Susan Bones

Aberforth Dumbledore

I love love lovethe Marauders! If only there could be seven novels detailing their expolits! Grin

User758172 · 21/01/2019 00:36

Sorry - not really minor characters are they Blush

James and Lily!

Acerbics · 21/01/2019 05:16

McGonagall, if she counts.

What a spirit!

MrsWidgerysLodger · 21/01/2019 05:45

Neville's parents (and Grandma). Think he actually came from a family of badasses which is why he can really hold his own when pushed.

Thatwasfast · 21/01/2019 05:48

Mcgonagall

SquatBetty · 21/01/2019 05:55

Peeves - would love, love, love to have seen how Rik Mayall portrayed him in the first film

cricketmum84 · 21/01/2019 06:00

Luna lovegood is so gentle and kind. Almost ethereal. Not sure if she counts as a minor character though?

Yy to Mr Ollivander!

Luna Lovegoods father - I know he gave them away to the death eaters but they had his daughter! I can forgive him for that.

kaytee87 · 21/01/2019 07:53

Wood as well. The actor was a friend of my brothers.

QuimReaper · 21/01/2019 09:44

Oooh I'd forgotten about Lee Johnson, he was ace in the earlier books - you're right, they kind of threw him away in the films. I'm trying to remember what happen to him, I know he vanishes a bit after the twins leave Hogwarts but I don't really remember him at all in HBP or at the Battle of Hogwarts?

Mrs Figg. I just have this lovely image of her as a batty cat lady but of course she looks out for Harry while he’s growing up.

SilverySurfer · 21/01/2019 12:14

Dobby - still gutted that he died Sad

ninalovesdragons · 21/01/2019 12:18

Ludo Bagman!

MoggEatMoggWorld · 21/01/2019 12:20

Not sure what counts as a minor character but Arthur Weasley is adorable, hilarious and lovely and he’s my fave. Thought the film casting was spot on too Star

RonSwansonsMustacheComb · 21/01/2019 12:22

Ludo Bagman

Lockhart makes a short appearance in Order of the Phoenix book that is pretty funny.

Omgineedanamechange · 21/01/2019 12:22

Tonks really annoyed me, even the name sets my teeth on edge. See also Dobby.

But then I liked Cormac McCladden, so maybe I’m not the best judge of character.

TheLostTargaryen · 21/01/2019 12:23

Peeves - would love, love, love to have seen how Rik Mayall portrayed him in the first film

^ THIS! There is no one who could have played him better than Rik and I still cannot believe Peeves was pulled. He is a bloody good character!

DownWentTheFlag · 21/01/2019 12:25

I punched the air and shouted “Yes!” when Mrs Figg was revealed as a member of the wizarding world.
Also, Sir Cadogan.

TellMeItsNotTrue · 21/01/2019 12:27

Luna Lovegood, she was just so quirky and off in her own little world, yet everyone accepted her as she was and she gave some good advice
