This is awful, I can’t believe it hasn’t been more mainstream news? I fear the worst after so long but I hope they reach him.. IOS anyone else following this?

If they are doing a 5th explosion then that could be another 2 hours yet, that's the timescales they gave for each explosion.

ByeGermsByeWorries · 25/01/2019 23:05

I would have thought he'd be right at the bottom. I too wonder why they have decided to go where they have. There must be a logical reason for them to believe he is where they say he is but I don't know what that reason is. It would be interesting to find out.

milesandmiles · 25/01/2019 23:09

That's what I thought as well @ByeGermsByeWorries I hope he isn't and they find him and bring him out as soon as possible but surely earth falling could have created a plug and if he is stuck in an air pocket like they hope that could be any depth under the blockage? Hope I have explained what I am trying to say well enough...

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 25/01/2019 23:09

I thought that the borehole narrowed a bit after where they thought he was, but I can't find where I read that so I might have presumed it.

ThisWayDown · 25/01/2019 23:11

I’ve only found out about this from here. Horrendous and extraordinary. I can’t believe it’s been 12 days and understand why they haven’t attempted this rescue attempt sooner. Also, as it seems it was the boy’s uncle who made the borehole, that’s even more tragic for the parents, knowing the hole was caused by someone they love. Sad

trickyex · 25/01/2019 23:15

What an awful thing to have happened. Only saw this tonight.
How truly horrific for his poor parents.

milesandmiles · 25/01/2019 23:15

@AnchorDownDeepBreath that would make sense hopefully that's the case

aethelgifu · 25/01/2019 23:17

Poor, poor baby and parents. This world is so unfair and shit.

ByeGermsByeWorries · 25/01/2019 23:18

It should have had a fence round it as well as a cover on top. I hope in future the law is changed surrounding boreholes for additional safety. This must never ever happen again.

LuggsaysNotaWomen · 25/01/2019 23:18

Gosh this is agonising.

Whatever the outcome, I hope the little mite didn't suffer.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 25/01/2019 23:20

They reckon they are 45cm away. That feels so small.

I can't imagine what this feels like for the parents, the miners, the civil guard, everyone who has helped with the rescue mission.

Schuyler · 25/01/2019 23:22

I’m surprised there’s been so little coverage. What a sickeningly scary thing to have happened. Those poor parents.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 25/01/2019 23:27

Some sources think they are readying the micro camera to find him now.

WhereAreAllTheUsernames · 25/01/2019 23:29

Please god let a miracle happen and he be Alive.

At the very least let him be found.

Coppermine · 25/01/2019 23:30

ThisWayDown they did start trying quickly but it's just been challenge after challenge. The terrain is very rugged and hard rock, I'm sure I read they've shifted something like 80,000 tonnes of land. What they've done in the past 10 days would normally take months of planning. It's been so frustrating to follow on a daily basis but got to trust they are working as fast as they can but safely. They do seem to have hit obstacles every step of the way though. They must be exhausted.

WhereAreAllTheUsernames · 25/01/2019 23:31

And I totally agree with the poster who said this world is unfair and shit!

ButtonMoonLoon · 25/01/2019 23:33

Latest update

The extreme hardness of the rock is holding back the progress of the team of miners in the excavation and since this nobody is not talking about completion times.

ThisWayDown · 25/01/2019 23:33

Thanks Coppermine that makes sense. Really really terrible for them too.

Coppermine · 25/01/2019 23:36

Oh and it probably feels like it's only happening now because no UK media have been reporting on it. So many people are only really hearing about it today when it's near the end, but it's been almost two weeks Sad

Fiddie · 25/01/2019 23:53

Oh please let there have been a miracle

tinatsarina · 25/01/2019 23:57

Anything else yet? I'm only hearing about this today.

WindowsSmindows · 26/01/2019 00:05

Thank you for the updates, it's so sad.

Coalasblack · 26/01/2019 00:08

I've been following this since the beginning. I think in reality all hope is gone but I still cant help checking for a miracle.

That poor family.

Purplepinkpurple · 26/01/2019 00:16

Any update ? My oh and i have been trying to get updates. We have a lg similar age and its just heart breaking. I hate the thought of him being there alone and wondering where his mum & dad are. really am praying for a miracle :(

skunkatanka · 26/01/2019 00:19

Oh my word. Only hearing about this now. Hoping against hope
