This is awful, I can’t believe it hasn’t been more mainstream news? I fear the worst after so long but I hope they reach him.. IOS anyone else following this?

Oh my. I hadn't heard about this until tonight. I really hope he is still alive. How terrible for his parents.

The rescue team are moving what they believe to be the last lot of debris from the final explosion, surveyors are in checking conditions, presumably to ensure the structure is safe enough. The Civil Guards will be bringing Julen out once he has been located.

Does it look like it’s imminent?

I feel sorry for the Civil Guard. It must be hard not knowing what to expect here; and to be waiting for an unspecified amount of time to have to do it.

In an earlier report I read that once they got close to him they could use imagine camera equipment to locate him.
This must be simply unbearable for his parents

I just looked at the photos of the site. It appears it’s a 20cm borehole. A handspan, many meters deep. He simply cannot have survived being in that. I just hope he knew nothing about it, poor little baby.

I found a twitter page, @SpainMMG, that's doing updates in English. Won't be able to sleep until he's out.

I read it was 25cm, but I was stunned at how small that was, too.

They're doing another mini explosion.

I don't think anybody believes he'll be conscious after so long - my understanding was that the best case was that he'd be in a state of semi-coma.

Which is only reassuring In the sense that he probably won't be too aware of the explosions.

Sorry if this has been answered but as I understand it they are building the access tunnel below the plug of earth in the borehole. What has made them think that Julen is there and not further down if that makes sense? Because the borehole obviously goes much deeper which doesn't bare thinking about.
