Does anybody else call the end of the bread

A knobbler? Or heard it ever be called this?
I said it the other day and had my whole team looking blankly at me....
I/my family can’t be the only people in the world who use this term?
Most people just said they called it the crust? I have heard one person call it a ‘knobby’ before, but to be fair it’s never really a word that comes up often in conversation is it?

The nobby

Rockbird · 15/01/2019 19:46

London Irish. The nobby came from my very London grandmother.

Yulebealrite · 15/01/2019 19:48

Dh and his parents call it a nobble /knobble.

I've never heard it called that before meeting dh. We just called it the crust.

allyouneedis · 15/01/2019 20:04

When I was wee it was the heel! In my house it’s just the end of the bread.

MulticolourMophead · 15/01/2019 20:09

It's the crust, also Midlands.

Was going to say noggin, but that generally refers to a chunk, as in from a baguette. And it can be any part of the baguette, not just the end.

SoMuchToBits · 15/01/2019 20:13

I've always said crust and am from Southern England, but exh who was Scottish said heel. No knobblers here...

HalloumiGus · 15/01/2019 20:14

Always the knobbler when I was a child.

It's a knobby. Or it always has been in my family Smile

Brook1yn · 16/01/2019 00:36

It's a crust where we are from! Although DH and I call it the 'chleb end', chleb meaning bread in Polish I believe.

JaneJeffer · 16/01/2019 00:43

Heel

jessstan2 · 16/01/2019 01:03

I call it a crust. Never head of 'knobbler'.
