Who would you vote for in a General Election?

If there was a GE tomorrow, which political party would you vote for?

Personally I would vote Labour as I want to see an end to austerity, more money invested in public services and less inequality.

I remember correctly, there was a referendum 2011 for an alternative voting system which wasn't agreed by the people, so it seems that the general public don't want the current voting system to change.

Yes, transferable vote got voted down. I think it’s used for some elections in Scotland thoug.

Orchidflower1 · 15/01/2019 08:33

I could NEVER vote Corbyn - which is essentially what a labour vote is these days-he makes my skin crawl. Now if Chucca was leader that would be different.

NorthernRunner · 15/01/2019 08:40

Labour. Begrudgingly because I can’t stand Corbyn, however, I despise conservatives and everything they stand for, so could morally never vote for them.

Not Tories.
Not SNP.
Definitely Not Greens.
I used to vote Labour but they're a fucking useless mess.
Have voted Lib Dems occasionally, they're also pretty shit.

We're fucked eh.

FayFortune · 15/01/2019 08:47

Some form of independent if one stood.

Most likely a spoiled ballot from me.

BoneyBackJefferson · 15/01/2019 21:21

Kazzyhoward

from memory it was of the most lack luster, negatives campaigns brought forward by the powers that be. it was almost as if they didn't want a change.

which is funny when you consider the under hand dealings (from both sides) in the last referendum.

It’s better than a wasted vote is my point.it night not help those in power, but helping vote in some list mps is more useful than spoiling a vote.

You are making the assumption that the mp isn't in a main party safe seat

RtIock · 15/01/2019 21:27

I had lib fems, Labour, snp and conservatives to choose from last time, absolutely none appeal to me anymore, I wish I decent independent candidate would run or wishful thinking a new party would form

RtIock · 15/01/2019 21:27

*lib dems!

Ren8Bo · 15/01/2019 21:28

Labour.

TBF anyone could do a better job than the conservatives.

Tory

Moussemoose · 15/01/2019 21:57

Kazzyhoward re your comment on PR allowing Hitler into power.

You are correct about the form of PR used in Weimar Germany - it was a list system.

No one, absolutely no one, is suggesting we use a list system. Lessons have been learnt and there are multiple forms of PR. We already use a variety of voting systems in the U.K.

We use STV in NI for a variety of reasons but fairness is a key reason.

AnotherEmma · 15/01/2019 21:59

That comment was utterly ridiculous.
There were many, many reasons for Hitler's rise to power, and proportional representation cannot be blamed for it.
Many countries have more proportional electoral systems and have managed to avoid world wars and mass genocide.

CormoranStrike · 15/01/2019 22:01

Labour, and I would hope Keir Starmer would one day be PM

tararabumdeay · 15/01/2019 22:06

Doesn't matter in my constituency. The tories could field a banana on a tea tray and it would win.

MrsAmaretto · 15/01/2019 22:07

I’d vote Lib Dem as our MP is hard working approachable and has actually helped me. The alternatives to him last time were very poor

Sarcelle · 15/01/2019 22:07

I don't want to vote for any of them. But I would probably bottle it and vote Tory with gritted teeth. Cannot abide Corbyn and co. Brexit and crime are top of my agenda, so switching horses mid stream (Brexit) would be even worse. Crime is terrible at the moment, and the thought of Dianne Abbot as Home Secretary is scary. (Even scarier than Boris...)

RomanyRoots · 15/01/2019 22:10

Which ones are talking of scrapping tuition fees.
I'm sure it said 2 parties in the independant.
Didn't read it
just headline bit.
I'll vote for one of these, break the habit of a lifetime and vote.
When is it likely to be?

hazeyjane · 15/01/2019 22:14

For the first time in 32 years I haven't got a fucking clue.

Didsomeonesaybunny · 15/01/2019 22:16

Don’t particularly like Corbyn but then I wouldn’t be voting for him so labour most definitely. I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror if I voted for ‘them’ (Tories)

AnotherPidgey · 15/01/2019 22:24

If I was in the right constituency, I'd vote for Lord Buckethead Grin

Not sure what constituency I would be in as it is changing in 2022. Currently a safe seat that renders my vote merely a token gesture at turning up because I can.

I tend to favour Lib Dems but I think we need to let the dust settle on Brexit and see what we need first.
Conservatives are in a mess after 9 years of power and austerity. I'm not impressed with educational reform since 2010.
Labour still haven't sorted their shit out since 2010 and seem to be in a bigger, more fetid heap than ever.

I've voted at virtually every opportunity I've had, and I'm clueless about who can actually suceed in improving the state of the country socially as well as finanicially.

TheToffeeTruckinTown · 15/01/2019 22:35

The thought of Corbyn taking over makes me shudder. He has been utterly useless and is self serving. So Lib Dem or Tory, depending on their Brexit stance.

somewhereovertherain · 15/01/2019 22:42

Ever more convinced they’re all fucking cockwombles and all should resign. We are currently making Donald Trump look sensible.

Yes. Corbyn has no place in a future government. Least of all as PM. Toady, good for nothing, useless, sneery, waste of space, breathing a good mans breath that he is! I can't think of anyone, in history, who is least deserving of a parliamentary place than this sewer rat!
