Help! Really bad period and shoulder pain

Chillyegg · 13/01/2019 20:06

I am in excruciating pain. I started with terrible shoulder and kneck pain on Thursday morning. Then also my period in the same day. I havnt had a period in a few months and have completely come of hormonal contraception because it was really effecting my mental health. So this is my first one that’s completely “natural”. I’m in excruciating pain. Paracetomal and ibruprophen do not touch the pain. The shoulder and kneck pain is awful. How the deck can I make this better. Hot water bottles don’t help the tablets don’t help and the flow is ridiculously heavy and dark. I’m considering calling in sick!

Are you sure this isn't an ectopic pregnancy? Shoulder pain is an indication of ectopic. If there's any possibility you could be pregnant you need to go to A and E straight away

Onglue · 13/01/2019 20:09

Yes this doesn't sound normal. You should probably get checked out.

My first thought was ectopic as well.

Strugglingonagain · 13/01/2019 20:10

I think you should get checked out x

PurpleShepNeedsToGoToBed · 13/01/2019 20:10

Ectopic pregnancy?

Moonflower12 · 13/01/2019 20:11

I'm thinking eptopic too. I'd go to A and E.

PoliticalBiscuit · 13/01/2019 20:11

Please go to A&E, shoulder tip pain is a sign of ectopic pregnancy

megletthesecond · 13/01/2019 20:12

Please get checked out now, this evening type of now.
It's possibly an ectopic pregnancy and not a time to delay treatment.

Chillyegg · 13/01/2019 20:13

I did a ph test last week that was negative though?

Haggisfish · 13/01/2019 20:14

It might not detect an ectopic. Please go now, just to be safe.

cheesywotnots · 13/01/2019 20:15

Please fo to hospital and get yourself better, have you got someone who can drive you.

If you're period is on time a HPT wouldn't have been positive last week. Please do go and get looked at - heavy dark loss and shoulder tip pain are both big indicators of an ectopic.

BoreOfWhabylon · 13/01/2019 20:17

I agree with the others, A&E now. Unless you are feeling breathless, faint or dizzy, in which case 999 for an ambulance.

Flyingsouthwiththeswallows · 13/01/2019 20:18

Those are the symptoms I had when I had a Sphlenic Infart.

Whatever it is I think you should go to A & E

Chillyegg · 13/01/2019 20:19

I’ll book a doctors appointment in the morning . Dd is in bed and boyfriend has had 3 beers. I’m worried now I thought it was just two separate things.

Hope you are on your way to A&E Thanks

TheSheepofWallSt · 13/01/2019 20:19

Came on to day ectopic pregnancy. My mother had one in my teens, exact symptoms. Had to call an ambulance as she was in so much pain- she got to hospital and was opened up just as her Fallopian tube was about to rupture- potentially life threatening.

Get yourself to A&E.

CottonSock · 13/01/2019 20:19

Was also going to post about referred shoulder pain. Hopefully it's just muscular, but don't chance it if you feel unwell

RandomMess · 13/01/2019 20:20

Please don't leave it!

TheSheepofWallSt · 13/01/2019 20:20

OP this is not something to wait on, if ectopic it could kill you.

A&E now .

Evidencebased · 13/01/2019 20:21

It's rare that everyone on a MN thread agrees that you should go to A&E.

When this happens:
Go to A&E
Go straight to A&E.

Best of luck.

BoreOfWhabylon · 13/01/2019 20:23

Don't wait until tomorrow. You need proper assessment. Go to A&E or at least call 111. Do it now.

BurpsandHustles · 13/01/2019 20:24

Poor op! I guess as this is Unusual for you, you had better go.

For me shoulder and neck pain is common with my periods it's the bain of my life in fact!
