Because the first episode is absolutely shit...

It gets better then the ending is a bit meh. Worth it to play spot the hidden ghosts in the background though.

Bigonesmallone3 · 12/01/2019 16:39

I got about 5 episodes in and lost interest

Kookey · 12/01/2019 16:41

I watched it all, was annoyed at the meh ending..

I watched it all, complete waste of time and doesn't actually really make any sense.

FourteenCows · 12/01/2019 16:50

It’s very anticlimactic imo. And not in the least scary, and I’m a wimp.

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 12/01/2019 16:51

Watched the first episode and haven't bothered with the rest. Boring and not scary and I'm a complete wimp with horror/ghosts.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 12/01/2019 17:05

Didn't really find it scary. A few moments here and there. A little bit creepy and sad more then anything.

Fantasisa · 12/01/2019 17:06

I really liked it! A lot was left unexplained though!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 12/01/2019 17:37

Thank you!

The hype has made it seem like the best thing on tv so maybe I was expecting too much but aside from trying to work out where I’d seen one of the actresses before (Greys Anatomy!) I just couldn’t be bothered with it but though maybe the first episode was shit and the rest amazing!

I think life is too short to be invested in shit tv Grin

Did find slow at first but then couldn't stop watching it. Did like the ending even though was a little meh

Gina2012 · 12/01/2019 17:40

I watched 10 minutes earlier and thought - what the actual?

Gave up

Watching Luther now 🤪

Saucery · 12/01/2019 17:43

No, it gets more vague, badly acted and ridiculous as it goes on. One or two chilling scenes but not worth sitting through it all for them.

WeCameToDance · 12/01/2019 17:45

I thought it was very slow and then it got ok for a few episodes and then it got shit again. The ending is a bit pants and it does that horror thing of revealing too much of the supposedly scary and therefore making it completely unscary.

ginghambox · 12/01/2019 17:58

In a word NO.

idlenook · 12/01/2019 18:32

Nope, it made me really angry actually because I invested several evenings in it and so much was left unexplained (also I forget what they were now but seem to recall DH ranting about gaping plot holes). I also felt that the ending got very melodramatic and self-indulgent and most of the characters were quite unpleasant. I was especially disappointed as the original novel (and 1960 version of the film) is fantastic.

However, I did personally enjoy the first episode (and the next four or five) so you might have the opposite experience Wink

PlumpSyrianHamster · 12/01/2019 18:46

The end is shit!

Clawdy · 12/01/2019 19:21

Virtually every female character has long dark hair, so I keep getting totally confused! Grin

ShowOfHands · 12/01/2019 19:26

I liked it. It isn't scary but it's an interesting take on family dynamics.

Why didn't people like the ending? Trying to avoid spoilers but did you see the real/hidden meaning? Did you take it literally?

onetwopyjamacrew · 12/01/2019 19:29

It didn’t make that much sense and takes alot of concentration to gather what’s going on but with the selection on netflix i’d say worth watching til the end if you’ve started

WhoWants2Know · 12/01/2019 19:46

I liked it, and the Southern Gothic style, although I found it more sad than scary. I'd be interested in a prequel to see how the house became the way it was and what really happened with the people who lived there before.

The ending did feel a bit anticlimactic because although the issues were sort of resolved for the remaining characters, it left things open

WhoWants2Know · 12/01/2019 19:49

Doh!

The ending left things open for anyone to wander into the house and become a victim. Especially since the oldest brother had written a best selling book about the place! Surely there would be ghost hunters hopping the fence.

ShowOfHands · 12/01/2019 20:12

I don't think things were resolved at all. I don't think the final scene was everything it appeared to be.

WhoWants2Know · 14/01/2019 17:21

I think they're hoping for a sequel

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 14/01/2019 18:30

I got teary at the ending. Think it was the song and one certain moment.

Did keep getting confused to who was who at first. They all look simular

Ohnonotuagain · 14/01/2019 18:32

I didnt thjnj it was great tbh. Some good parts but could habe been better.
