Feel like Amazon prime isn’t worth it.

Purely because all the free films are usually old and shit, so often find myself paying for films (£3:50) rental! On tope of £79 yearly! But even the films they charge for are often old and sometime shit!

Plus, I often listen to amazon music but to get any decent stuff I’d have to pay an additional £7 monthly Confused

I like prime. There’s only been a handful of times I’ve not been able to listen to a song I’ve asked for. I like the selection of tv and films. They’ve got some unusual, def not mainstream stuff hidden away on there.
The only thing that annoys me is with the search function. Even when I select ‘prime only’ it still shows me some things that aren’t available on prime.

Whitney168 · 12/01/2019 13:31

I cancelled mine last month, because I am an impatient sort and found I was ordering more because I could get it so quickly. I know that for Amazon that is kind of the whole point LOL, but I felt it was making me buy more and that I was being a mug.

Not the same for all, obviously, but personally I decided to stop feeling manipulated! If I can't wait a few days for it, I obviously didn't want it that much and should save my money.

Never watched Prime TV stuff much anyway.

TheDrsDocMartens · 12/01/2019 14:21

I used to use slower delivery for the free credits. I’ll just go for fast delivery now if they’ve stopped it. I’m not usually in a rush though.
I like the free monthly books. If that stops I’m out!

notreally that’s what I find too! Unless you know what you’re looking for then I spend most time searching Hmm
I’m also wondering whether to scrap it and sub to spotify instead as it’s the music I use the most

@MyOtherProfile - yes! I do. I'm a teacher and use my work email, but say I'm a student.

CoperCabana · 12/01/2019 19:29

I think if you add together the tv, the kindle books, the delivery and the unlimited cloud photo storage, it ends up being great value.

UpTree · 12/01/2019 19:40

I’m not naive south Indon’t expect to pay for bew films, I just don’t expect to pay for films over 2yrs old when I’m already payong subscription.

I've had Prime for years but I finally cancelled it. Delivery has got worse and worse. I live in central London yet often delivery isn't next day as stated. So then I used to use slower delivery for the free credits for books on my Kindle but now they've stopped that. So I'm done.

SilverySurfer · 12/01/2019 20:55

I have Prime and am thinking of cancelling. I think their tv shows are good but most films are pretty meh. What I find most irritating is the absence of subtitles on quite a few. I am very hard of hearing and really can't manage without them.

I was really pissed off yesterday when I got to the end of Series 6 of The Mentalist, loaded first episode of Series 7 - no subtitles and none on the remaining 11 episodes. Angry

My absolute favourite on Prime was three series of Lucifer but Fox decided not to make a fourth. However, Netflix have picked it up so going to stick with Netflix and give Prime a miss I think.

gaggiagirl · 12/01/2019 21:12

Love the next day delivery
The kids love the music
DH likes the documentarys
We love Vikings, transparent, Bosch.
I use the photo cloud.

Agree the films are SHIT

OutPinked · 12/01/2019 21:18

We only have it for next day delivery, never bother with the TV/film. It has nothing on Netflix.

Ucangourownwoo · 12/01/2019 21:19

I’ve swapped to nowtv for a change recently. In part because my fire stick broke and I wasn’t willing to pay through the nose for another one. Got nowtv for £15 which includes the stick and a 2 month pass.

Ucangourownwoo · 12/01/2019 21:20

What I find most irritating is the absence of subtitles on quite a few

This is another reason for me cancelling. Netflix is much better for subtitling as is nowtv, although a lot of their newer stuff isn’t subtitled.

lololove · 12/01/2019 21:28

i don't watch anything on the prime as we have Netflix in with our sky package and it's always been more convenient to do that rather than do the app for AP .

I do use a lot of the one day delivery though, not just for me but with a disabled parent and also a grandparent in a care home as I don't drive and he's a recovering alcoholic so drinks a LOT of fizzy drinks to replace the sugar so Amazon Pantry has been a godsend.

We also use Alexa a lot too and we need it for the music etc. I am on a 99p 3 month trial for Amazon Music but I have already set it in the settings not to auto-renew as there's pretty much nothing on it that we need AM for specifically.

Bagadverts · 12/01/2019 21:29

I’m interested in Prime for quick delivery. Do you need someone to sign for the parcel? I found that with next day in the past and it ended up slower than normal delivery once I went to collect. (I can’t get it delivered to work.)

lololove · 12/01/2019 21:34

@Kemer2018 if it helps, Benidorm 1-9 is on Netflix, I'm currently on a rewatch about to start series 5.

lololove · 12/01/2019 21:39

Most of the time you don't need to sign for the parcel and if you have the Amazon app, it tells you when your courier is approx 8 stops away (if it's an Amazon courier)

Occasionally they send things with DPD and you do have to sign then

mummabubs · 12/01/2019 22:06

I don't use Prime for video or music, so can't comment there...

But I can honestly say I can't remember the last time I ordered something by Prime and it genuinely arrived the next day. Always seems to take 2-3 days. And I pre-ordered a book under Prime in October (with a December release date) and got an email 4 days before I was due to receive it (17th December) saying I wouldn't now be getting it until 9-26th January. I know other people have had this book through amazon so I have no idea what's taking so long and as it was a main Christmas present (bloody expensive book!) it's really annoying. This never seemed to happen a few years ago, I won't be renewing Prime.

UpTree · 12/01/2019 22:08

I’ve never had to sign with dpd, or local postie. They’re the only two I’ve had deliver

Homecoming is ok
Marvellous mrs maisel is good
Dietland was tough going

Kemer2018 · 13/01/2019 09:58

lololove i don't have netflix but may look into this

PattiStanger · 13/01/2019 10:15

@silverysurfer The mentalist is on one of the freeview channels everyday, might be worth looking to see if it's subtitled

southeastdweller · 13/01/2019 10:39

I'm loving The Marvellous Mrs Maisel. Love having free Prime (free trial for students). As good as the film and TV range is, it's not worth the £7.99 a month if I wasn't studying and that's only what I use it for.

SilverySurfer · 13/01/2019 19:50

Oh interesting, thanks - will see if I can track it down
