I’m talking the ridiculous ones, so not meaning to offend anyone. If you remember the story how you heard it please include that too!

Mine Grin
When I was in hospital after my c section 6 weeks ago, lady across from me was talking to a nurse. The conversation went like this-

Nurse “he’s gorgeous! Does he have a name?”
Lady “yeh he’s legend king, after my dad”
Nurse “ooh....lovely!”
Lady “yeah named him after my dad as my dad died yesterday, same day e was born”
Nurse “oh I’m so sorry!”
Lady “it’s alright happened years ago, he was stabbed never liked the bastard serves him right!”
Nurse “okay! Right you can have these pain killers...”

😂😂 know I shouldn’t laugh but me and my mum told everyone at Christmas.

Names and stories please!

I met an American kid called Britain who's mother glared at me and snapped "It's Britain" when I mistakenly called her Britney. Blush

ShadyLady53 · 11/01/2019 21:57

@GreenDinosaur Are you sure it wasn’t Britten? Not that it’s any better 😂.

I’ve met a lot of Americans that name kids after towns and cities... little girls called “Dublin” boys called “Chester” etc but a surprising number of random towns, some near my own home...don’t want to be outing but the equivalent of “Wigan”, “Basildon” and “Crawley”. In fact, I think the latter is a genuine name I heard out there.

@MrsDeltaB no worries, no offence taken Smile They don't sell the drink in NZ so I have to admit it left me a bit baffled when I first saw it!

Vivino · 12/01/2019 04:03

And my favourite odd names belonged to a teacher's two kids - the first was Forest (or perhaps Forrest) Malone Hercules and I'm sure the second child was Tiger Lily.

MissBax · 12/01/2019 04:03

My friend is a teacher and has a student called 'K-a', pronounced K'dasha!!! 😱

user1493423934 · 12/01/2019 04:33

I'm sure there was a Kaitlyn spelled 'Kaviiilyn' (the roman numerals of '8' - viii instead of 'ait') around. Will have a look.

Redcrayonisthebest · 12/01/2019 09:40

Dp wanted to call our ds Tyger-Lili if he'd been a girl. I was actually fairly tempted by itBlush probably best that he was a boy Grin

GreenDinosaur · 12/01/2019 11:14

@ShadyLady53, no idea, but you could be right. I didn't dare ask how it was spelt, the mum was a bit scary!

TaighNamGastaOrt · 12/01/2019 11:56

Pocahontas. I shit you not. The surname was Smith.

Also I know a toddler called Renesmee after the child in the Twilight books. Of course there's a dash in there somewhere.

AJPTaylor · 12/01/2019 12:24

That has reminded me of a student I had called Cinderella. Also Smith..

Aprilshowerswontbelong · 12/01/2019 12:25

Dd's work colleague has called her dd Estelle - Celeste.
The df has a huge lisp...

BadlyAgedMemes · 12/01/2019 12:35

Henna is actually a common-ish name in Finland, and I think a version of Hanna rather than related to the dying material. I went to school with a couple of Hennas.

The weirdest I've heard recently was Pink, but I don't know if it's all that horrible really. Just surprising!

ShadyLady53 · 12/01/2019 12:37

I’ve got an acquaintance called Henna too, she’s Asian. It’s not a weird or horrible name 🙄.

MamaRaisingBoys · 12/01/2019 13:25

Binkie... for a boy

TaMereAPoilDevantPrisu · 12/01/2019 14:12

Oh do fuck off with the K-A and KVIIIlyn shit. Try exercising a bit of critical thinking.

Nothisispatrick · 12/01/2019 14:15

I also know a Henna, she’s Indian. I didn’t think it was unusual at all.

SauvignonMum · 12/01/2019 14:16

I know lots of AJs, CJs, TJs etc... (all adults)

I don't think they're unusual (or bad, even if they're not to my taste) at all

Nothisispatrick · 12/01/2019 14:16

Neither is Brie or Forrest.

Brie Larson and Forrest Gump (two examples off the top of my head Grin)

SauvignonMum · 12/01/2019 14:18

Brie in desperate houses!

SauvignonMum · 12/01/2019 14:19

Desperate housewives

Nothisispatrick · 12/01/2019 14:24

Haha I remembered her after i posted! Also the actor Forest Whitaker
