M6 incident j16 - anyone else?

ArtisanBaps · 09/01/2019 19:20

Arghhhhhh. Stuck in the m6 j16 chaos. Been here 2 hours now. Motorway shut both ways while police apparently look for 27 people who have jumped off a lorry and onto the motorway and surrounding fields. Dying to go all Dunkirk spirit and exchange pleasantries with other traffic jammers but daren’t get out in case I get mistaken for an escapee. All I’ve got to eat is a vegan protein bar when I would actually very much like a Cadbury’s Twirl. Even a Terry’s Chocolate Orange would do and I detest them under normal non-siege conditions #ThanksForNothingVeganuary

Dearie me.

Get out and stand at your door to stretch your legs at least- someone kind nearby may have spare Twirls.

Dare I ask about the bathroom situation?

ArtisanBaps · 09/01/2019 19:24

Bathroom situation approaching critical
Even a SheWee is looking like a good idea Shock

God that's my nightmare! Poor you!

SleepWarrior · 09/01/2019 19:31

Oh no! Do you have a Tupperware or anything in the car you could use as a potty?

CatsForLife · 09/01/2019 19:31

I was stuck too. Made it through with a large packet of wine gums.

lemonface · 09/01/2019 19:33

I know its light hearted OP but maybe spare a thought for how desperate those people must have been and how scared they are right now. Then eat your lovely protein bar Smile

ArtisanBaps · 09/01/2019 19:36

Oh I know - definitely lighthearted ! nothing against the people involved at all or those out looking for them and treating them

You must be bored and fed up Sad

ArtisanBaps · 09/01/2019 19:41

Bored now. And bathroom situation not good! I have at my disposal : my best china cup, a McDonalds soft drink cup, a brown paper bag and my handbag which is plastic so might disinfect nicely but has tiny laser holes all over it. Confused

JennyOnAPlate · 09/01/2019 19:43

I think the McDonald's cup might be your best bet op!

I hope you get moving soon. It's miserable when you're stuck with no idea of when you'll get moving again.

user1457017537 · 09/01/2019 19:44

Did they have to jump out on a motorway though and inconvenience everyone and potentially cause a motorway pile up.

TwiceMagic · 09/01/2019 19:46

My vote is with the McDonald's cup. Then you can open your door and empty it under the car. Hopefully there are not high vehicles near you.

TattiePants · 09/01/2019 19:48

I guess it depends on how big the McD's cup is (and how strong your pelvic floor is if you need to stop mid wee!)

If you are near the hard shoulder and have a 4 door car then open both doors on the hard shoulder side to create barriers and perch between the doors. At least it's dark!

LordEmsworth · 09/01/2019 19:49

Off topic, do you often take your best China cup out for a little drive? My best China mug doesn't leave the house. Not even to go into the garden.

ArtisanBaps · 09/01/2019 19:52

I’m in lane 2 and surrounded by hgv’s! Wonder if I could round up a gang of lone women and go en masse to the grass verge....What’s the etiquette in such situations “anybody fancy joining my wee expedition”?

It’s pretty dark as they’ve turned the street lights off presumably to help with thermal imaging or something?

OP posts:
TwiceMagic · 09/01/2019 19:54

could you put your coat on your lap and pee under that?

ArtisanBaps · 09/01/2019 19:55

@LordEmsworth I finish off my morning tea on the drive to work but refuse to drink the sacred liquor aka PG Tips out of plastic. Or nasty earthenware.

TattiePants · 09/01/2019 19:56

Definitely chance the McDonalds cup in that case! Are you north or south bound? Apparently the south bound carriageway has reopened now.

Harryo · 09/01/2019 20:02

I once had to pee on the hardshoulder of the M5. I now keep one of these in the glovebox

Any bushes around, get out and go behind a bush

ArtisanBaps · 09/01/2019 20:11

Southbound was moving for a few mins but has been stopped again for about 30 mins. I’m northbound and not moved at all for 2 hours

Simonsaysitschristmas · 09/01/2019 20:16

Oh god OP sending you positive thoughts and virtual twirls Cake

littleducks · 09/01/2019 20:22

Normally I'd suggest going up the bank and finding a bush but if they have turned lights off to use thermal imaging perhaps you don't want to be crouching behind a bush right now Shock

sonlypuppyfat · 09/01/2019 20:23

Spare a thought for the desperate people!!! What planet are you on!

AlpacaPicnic · 09/01/2019 20:25

Someone I know, or possibly read about on hear, peed on their passenger seat in a similar emergency then took the car to be professionally cleaned due to 'a new puppy having an accident in the car's
So that's an option?
