Someone has chucked an eight inch knife over my garden wall

My three year old daughter and her friend were out there playing and I've only just found it now I've gone out to tidy up. It was double wrapped in plastic bags and I thought it was just rubbish. I feel terrible at the thought they could have got it ☹️

My first thought is has it been used for a crime?

GobblersKnob · 09/01/2019 16:16

I think that's a police job. Have you touched it?

youngestisapsycho · 09/01/2019 16:17

I would take it to a police station.

BlackeyedPetitsPois · 09/01/2019 16:18

I would definitely phone 101 for advice.

megletthesecond · 09/01/2019 16:19

Call the police on 101. They may well want it

Huffleypuff · 09/01/2019 16:19

I would call the police non emergency number, that sounds like it could be suspicious

PoisonousSmurf · 09/01/2019 16:19

Evidence of a crime! Tell 101!

BunloafAndCrumpets · 09/01/2019 16:20

Thanks all. I should have said. I called 101 as soon as I found it, explained, and they told me to take it to the recycling centre!

OP posts:
BunloafAndCrumpets · 09/01/2019 16:21

And no I didn't touch it, I only touched the bag it was in. It's a huge victorinox knife, I've never seen anything like it in real life

gamerwidow · 09/01/2019 16:21

Definitely report to 101 and don’t touch it anymore in case they need it as evidence. How scary for you though! Try not to worry too much, yes it could have been nasty if the DC had found it they didn’t and they aren’t harmed.

PoisonousSmurf · 09/01/2019 16:22

I'd hold onto it a bit longer. Could be a crime has not been reported yet. Is there blood on it?

gamerwidow · 09/01/2019 16:22

Ah x-post. I which case recycle it and put the incident out of your mind.

flamingofridays · 09/01/2019 16:23

they told you to take it to a recycling centre! I would be inclined to ring back! everything about this is suspicious!

ginghamstarfish · 09/01/2019 16:24

Sad that the police aren't interested, seems they could at least hold on to it to see if a crime using such a knife has been reported ...

Fairylea · 09/01/2019 16:24

I would actually take that to the nearest police station. Sounds incredibly dodgy!

Bigkingdom · 09/01/2019 16:25

I wouldn’t take it to a recycling centre. I’d take it to the local police station and explain and tell them what 101 said.

BaaBaaBaaMoo · 09/01/2019 16:25

I would take to police station too

Hoppinggreen · 09/01/2019 16:26

Well they didn’t so you can stop worrying about it ( although with dc I know how terrifying the “what ifs” are)
I would contact the police though in case it’s been used in a crime

Jess74 · 09/01/2019 16:28

What sort of muppet says take it to the recycling centre. It seems pretty obvious it could have been used in a crime and the very least should be taken to the police.

BunloafAndCrumpets · 09/01/2019 16:30

Gaah I know I should put it out of my mind. I just can't. I was watching the girls all the time but wouldn't have got there quickly if they'd picked it up. What a horrible person to dump such a dangerous thing like that.

I will take it to the police station at some point but they've closed the one in my city so it's not a quick trip!

OP posts:
ILoveMaxiBondi · 09/01/2019 16:30

The recycling centre?? Confused a huge knife?

Nothisispatrick · 09/01/2019 16:31

The recycling centre? Can you even recycle knives?

I would take it to the police station, as pp said the crime may have just not been reported yet. There was a stabbing in London last night of a 14 year old boy, you’re not near the area are you?

BunloafAndCrumpets · 09/01/2019 16:32

Jess I agree. Muppet!

Thank you all for listening. I didn't want to tell my real life friends as I don't want to put them off coming round to play. But I am having second thoughts about playing out there. This isn't the first time stuff has been chucked over the wall

OP posts:
peoplearepeople · 09/01/2019 16:32

Another one here who says hand it in to the local police station just in case it may have been used in a crime.

BunloafAndCrumpets · 09/01/2019 16:34

Patrick poor boy. no I'm in the SW.

Yes 101 said you can recycle them!
