Someone has chucked an eight inch knife over my garden wall

My three year old daughter and her friend were out there playing and I've only just found it now I've gone out to tidy up. It was double wrapped in plastic bags and I thought it was just rubbish. I feel terrible at the thought they could have got it ☹️

OP Glad the children didn't touch it - and that you are ignoring 101's 'advice'!

SpeedyBojangles · 09/01/2019 16:54

The local neighbourhood policing team are quite active on Facebook in my area so may be worth seeing if they're on there and dropping them a message

BayandBlonde · 09/01/2019 16:56

Take it to the recycling centre is about right for the police.

I found a massive stash of drugs, presumably stolen / cloned credit cards, presumably stolen passports etc under the floorboard of a house I was converting. I took it to the local police station, which had closed for the day Angry, I then ring 101 to be told, just bin it!!

AhhhHereItGoes · 09/01/2019 16:58

Also agree with @SpeedyBojangles you can contact Devon and Cornwall, Wiltshire or Dorset Police on Facebook and Twitter.

BayandBlonde · 09/01/2019 16:58

I didn't bin it btw, I drove around until I found a station that was actually open.

gamerchick · 09/01/2019 16:59

You need to hand it in in case it's been in a crime. Give your local police station a ring.

diddl · 09/01/2019 17:00

Have you put up a pic Op?

I wonder of the fact that it's double bagged means that it's more or leaa likely to have been used for a crime?

gamerchick · 09/01/2019 17:00

Massive X post, there weren't any replies when I pulled the page up.

Cancel the cheque OP

BunloafAndCrumpets · 09/01/2019 17:00

Bay Shock that's really worrying! Have asked neighbour for the police guys name so will try him too. I shall let you know if he tells me to hand it in / take it to a charity shop 😬😂

I found a bg kitchen knife behind my front wall. Called 101, who called the police who sent a car within 20 minutes take it away.

Nicknacky · 09/01/2019 17:01

cjt You phoned the police about THAT?! It’s not a general advice line.

I really despair sometimes.

BunloafAndCrumpets · 09/01/2019 17:01

Oh yes I did put up a pic. Will try again. Sorry

Bakewells for scale

"Oh yes I did put up a pic."

I thought that that was the bakewell post!

Maybe just me who can't see it as no one else has said anything.

BunloafAndCrumpets · 09/01/2019 17:03

Baby shark I prefer your police!

The ad at the bottom of my screen now is for handmade Japanese kitchen knives.

BunloafAndCrumpets · 09/01/2019 17:04

Sorry on the app.

Cantdorightfromwrong · 09/01/2019 17:05

My fear is that someone has 'hid' it to use for future use

Knittedfairies · 09/01/2019 17:06

I've no further advice OP, but wondering how you came to use a box of Bakewell tarts as a scale...

BunloafAndCrumpets · 09/01/2019 17:07

Last try at a photo!

You might be right.

Apparently, gang members/teenagers etc. "stash" knives about the place "just in case".

BunloafAndCrumpets · 09/01/2019 17:08

Can't that REALLY doesn't help my paranoia!! Tho I don't think it's a good place to hide weapons as the wall is ten feet high (no I don't live in a prison, am actually feeling glad about the wall height!)

LuckyLou7 · 09/01/2019 17:09

Presumably 101 is staffed by call handlers and not police officers. A knife that has been wrapped and dumped sounds extremely dodgy. Why else would someone get rid of a knife? I would want to speak to an actual police officer before taking it to the recycling centre.

BunloafAndCrumpets · 09/01/2019 17:09

Knittedfaries I took a box from the recycling to put the pointy end into.

Free from bakewells as the baby has CMPA.

Waitrose bakewells as bought by my kind fancy friend!
