Hate my highlighted hair!

So I have had my natural hair colour for about a year now, so decided a change!
I went to the salon and had a professional full head of highlights put in to my light brown hair. Well it’s light blonde/grey/white and I hate it!

I believe the highlight colours I have are the ‘in’ colours atm so I’m guessing that both stylist and I had a different perception of ‘highlights’ I didn’t show her a pic Blush

Anyway, I want it changing! It looks way too artificial, I was hoping for that natural sunkissed blonde Grin

But now I have gone blonde I am not sure I want it blonde at all! I’m so indecisive about my hair! I’m thinking of a nice warm dark/choc brown/brunette! Totally different I know!

My question, from this very long winded post (sorry!) Is this possible at a salon?.... To go brown, oess than a week after highlights?

Looking at the third picture I think you've got 'ash' when you were probably expecting 'golden' and if you spend your life up a mountain I'm guess pulled back hair, minimal make up. So I can see why Ash might be come off a bit too close to grey (at least to your 9 year old!).

So with other PPs think you need to wait it out and then get some darker blonde mixed through if it still bothers you.

I’d kill for that..it’s beautiful

I think it looks beautiful! Keep it OP!

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 08/01/2019 10:16

There is nothing at all wrong with it , from what I can see .

Dowser · 08/01/2019 10:16

My friend , 10 years younger than me has natural white hair. She has had it like that for years.
It always looked glamorous in a short crop . s
She did it brown and honestly, it’s taken all the personality out of her..just looks drab and very ageing.
Keep your locks...we are supposed to go lighter as we age anyway..although you’re definitely not old.

I agree - you wanted a golden look and got ash. It's happened to me before too. I think the ash might be trendier so the hairdressers do that. I also agree with not using the purple shampoo as it makes it more grey and less golden. It does look nice but it's not the look you were envisioning. And it will settle, like PPs have said.

UpTree · 08/01/2019 11:20

Yes yak apparently it’s trendy, but I’m rubbish with trends as I’m rarely in a city

Thanks all.

I will keep it for a while but just out of interest, is it possible for a stylist to change it darker?

I think it looks lovely @UpTree but if you don't like it, you could easily get a toner put on to darken/soften it a bit. My salon charges about a tenner and I did it when my highlights went a bit brassy.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 08/01/2019 11:29

I prefer ash (my natural base tones are ashy) and always seem to get golden Hmm. FWIW, I think the fresh from the salon pic looks fab, really great but the one you took with it in a bobble does make it look like natural grey hair, rather than highlights. It looks like your natural tones are more golden, so the ash tones are a bit of a shock. I agree with the others, I’d try to keep it for a bit (mostly for damage reasons) and then go back and have a few golden bits put through to blend it through.

Truckingonandon · 08/01/2019 11:50

Ok, in your first pic, it looks fab. In the 2nd pic, it does look more ash grey. It's a fine line between ash and old lady grey. It looks lovely though and the hairdresser has done a great job. Go easy with the purple shampoo as it will make it even more grey. Ash tends to fade quickly so it might look different again in a fortnight.

fussychica · 08/01/2019 18:25

I think you just wanted us to say how great it looksGrinGrin.
It does. I'd love that look but my hairdresser says I'd find it too high maintenance as my hair is mid brown but roots come quite dark and greySad.
You could go for some lowlights over the whites to tone it down if you still don't like it in a few weeks.

canibehereifimnotamum · 08/01/2019 18:28

I love that! Gorgeous colour! Will just take some getting used to after your other colour. It looks great!

Paddy1234 · 08/01/2019 18:44

Love love love it

UpTree · 08/01/2019 20:16

I know fussy I became concious of that the more people engaged! It wasn’t my intention! Blush

I have a consultation with a salon on Thurs to go through options
