Hate my highlighted hair!

So I have had my natural hair colour for about a year now, so decided a change!
I went to the salon and had a professional full head of highlights put in to my light brown hair. Well it’s light blonde/grey/white and I hate it!

I believe the highlight colours I have are the ‘in’ colours atm so I’m guessing that both stylist and I had a different perception of ‘highlights’ I didn’t show her a pic Blush

Anyway, I want it changing! It looks way too artificial, I was hoping for that natural sunkissed blonde Grin

But now I have gone blonde I am not sure I want it blonde at all! I’m so indecisive about my hair! I’m thinking of a nice warm dark/choc brown/brunette! Totally different I know!

My question, from this very long winded post (sorry!) Is this possible at a salon?.... To go brown, oess than a week after highlights?

Any stylists on here can help?

Couldn’t you try to put up with it for a few weeks?

I'd wait a bit. As your natural colour grows through it will soften.

Not a stylist but if you’ve gone blonde (ish) your hair has taken a hit so I wouldn’t do anything straight away!
Does it feel/look coppery or brassy or do you just not like it?

masterstef · 07/01/2019 22:31

First batch of highlights can often look a bit weird because it's just them and your normal hair - when the second / later batch gets put in they look more natural as they sort of 'mix' in.

I had this too OP, just had to wait it out. I got a toner put on as the blonde was so brassy despite asking for ashy. You could ask for a toner which might subtly change the colour up?

Cupcake4u · 07/01/2019 22:33

Ask for very fine baby highlights

UpTree · 07/01/2019 22:52

Okay. Thanks! Is the waiting it out to let my hair recover?

How long is best?

Do you get toners in dark colours?

I think you need to get used to it. Let it bed in the colours will fade anyway.

I love that picture. If yours looks like that wow.

If you still hate the light look in 8 weeks get darker / more of your natural shades mixed in.

Hubblebubbletripletrouble · 07/01/2019 23:01

Can you post a photo of your hair with your face scrubbed out so not identifying?

Truckingonandon · 07/01/2019 23:01

If that pic is truly how your hair looks, please let me know the name of your hairdresser!! Clean light ash blonde is super hard to get just right.

UpTree · 07/01/2019 23:11

So this is the day I had it done.

No leave it honestly. It looks beautiful! You're just adjusting. The exact same thing happened to me when I went lighter. Totally freaked out after the first set of highlights. Convinced myself it was a disaster. My DH and DS bless them convinced me to keep going with the new look and now I love it. I do sometimes still catch myself in the mirror and get a little shockGrin

Rafabella · 07/01/2019 23:17

Yes now that I have seen the before - the highlights are much much better. Give it time. Tie it back so that you can't see all the lightness around your shoulders while you play around with new make up shades. Trust me.

Wowserme · 07/01/2019 23:22

I think it looks lovely, it’s because it’s so different you will take a while to get used to it... give it a few weeks and see how you feel about it then.
I bet you grow to love it. X

UpTree · 07/01/2019 23:23

Thanks rafa I’ll try to wait it out! It is a a shock when loose, I do have to tie it up!

Tempted to turn it in to a pixie cut?

Also interested in where your hairdresser is! Looks really nice

UpTree · 07/01/2019 23:25

Yeah, she was really good! It’s my sister’s hairdresser, I was just visiting over christmas. It’s in North Wales

That colour is gorgeous. Cant say what you'd suit best that or brunette but i like it

Belle89 · 07/01/2019 23:26

I love it. I don't think it looks artificial at all. It's not brassy which happened to me before. I'm sure you'll adjust

Rafabella · 08/01/2019 00:08

A pixie cut is drastic! Hang back on that one. Keep softly tying it back - you'll soon get used to it. The highlights look beautifully done. No way hosay was it a mistake to lighten. Stick with it!

GlitterPixie · 08/01/2019 00:11

That’s the perfect blonde I tried for 20 years to get hairdressers to give me Sad
