Anyone still around from the olden days ??

TheOriginalNutty · 06/01/2019 15:57

i think I joined when Ds was around 9 months old, so 2003, and then stopped posting around 2013/14 ish maybe, not too sure.

Seems like a life time ago and was just sat here wondering if anyone from then was still around, or if we all buggered off.

IamTheMeg · 07/01/2019 21:57

All of the above plus sparewheel and Rhubarb

MrsSchadenfreude · 07/01/2019 21:57

Here since around 2003 when I lived in Belgium...

MirandaWest · 07/01/2019 21:59

I’ve been here since 2004. Is nice seeing old names Smile

WhiffOfBath · 07/01/2019 22:04

One thing to be said for MN now (as opposed to in the Olden Days) is that it's much less cliché (quichey, in Olden Days speak). I think this is generally a good thing, though I have a bit of a nostalgia thing going on now, having had several names mentioned on here. I had a fall-out with SGB on here about 10 years ago! Doubt that she will remember it, though, as I have NC about 100 times since....

A thread from the last few days Grin

WhiffOfBath · 07/01/2019 22:18

I read this thread, Sparklingbrook, and it has reminded me how much MN has changed in 13 years. Possibly for the better, as the size now doesn't really allow for the types of quiches that existed 'in the olden days'...

Tigresswoods · 07/01/2019 22:32

This thread has made me realise I've been here over a decade. How did that happen?

ssd · 07/01/2019 22:47

mn has always been cliquey, if you dont get the in jokes and the jokey references like the bat, the cutted up pear etc then you'll never fit in...which has never bothered me Grin

ssd · 07/01/2019 22:48

mind you, I dont think we see the amount of fawning over posters that we used to see in the good old days and that can only be a good thing

WhiffOfBath · 07/01/2019 22:53

Agree, ssd. I remember posters from yonks ago - and then, the fawning pissed me off (I had a lengthy break as a result - it all felt too much like playground cliques at the time, and I couldn't be bothered with that as a 30 yr old). I think it's overall better now, even if we do have to announce that posts are lighthearted, when that's evidently the case...

ErrolTheDragon · 07/01/2019 22:55

Surely no one gets all the 'in jokes' all the time?
I haven't a clue what 'UCM' refers to or what the Korean lady thread was about, or penguin bollards.
My DD still gets an occasional cutted up pear when she's home from uni... she's been on cutted up fruit longer than I've been on MN.Grin

Frangipane · 07/01/2019 22:58

Made me properly wince reading that. So many deleted comments, literally dozens.

You do realise Laurie that most of the deleted comments are deleted because the posters left MN and asked for all their posts to be deleted? I don't think it necessarily reflects on the beasting you received.

Mner here since 2004, not my original name, but a browse of this thread shows I am not missed anyway!

Stiddleficks · 07/01/2019 23:11

No idea how long I’ve been here under diffeeent names but not as king as most of you! I recognise a few names on here, I was most active when StealthPolarbear, eatshitderek and CatThiefKeith were here a lot.
I actually cried over CatThiefKeith, still makes me well up thinking of her now Sad

WhiffOfBath · 07/01/2019 23:17

I wouldn't be missed, either! Not least due to 1,000 NCs. Not too sorry, though, as MN has not and never would be a substitute for RL. It's just a bit of fun.

FeedMyFaceWithBattenberg · 07/01/2019 23:17

2008 for me, bloody hell... that's over 10yrs!

SoMuchToBits · 07/01/2019 23:21

I've been here since 2006. Although I'm not a particularly prolific poster, and most people will only recognise me for my Playmobil scenarios.

But I do recognise a lot of names from years gone by. My ds is now 18, but I still enjoy popping in to MN every now and again.

newyeardontcare · 07/01/2019 23:37

Joined 2002, many different names!

Who was the poster who used to deliberately misspell/mistype all their words? Was it Cod? Wasn't she actually a celebrity in disguise (Caitlin Moran the rumour was, wasn't it?)

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 08/01/2019 02:03

SoMuchToBits - you had a different name for the playmobil stuff though, didn't you? I could be wrong though!
I loved those.
Does your DS still have all the Playmobil or has it all gone now?

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 08/01/2019 02:22

I joined in 2007. I was briefly AnnieBeansMummy but was quickly educated that syrupy sweet names like that belonged on the other site and not MN. I have been AnnieonaMapleLeaf ever since.

I was a MN addict for the first few years, but have been spending less and less time on here.

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 08/01/2019 02:30

Zombie 😢

Elderflower14 · 08/01/2019 02:32

I've been here since 2008. I have had several names. I'm Wilfs Mum!

I was on here when kids were born in London and I emigrated to Oregon, USA 13 years ago so that’s how long it’s been.

Seriously, this place was a godsend for me when I emigrated to the with two tiny DCs and a husband who was always at work.

Smallhorse · 08/01/2019 03:21

I’ve been here from the start but had to name change due to spiteful attacks from a well known poster on the relationships board
