Anyone still around from the olden days ??

i think I joined when Ds was around 9 months old, so 2003, and then stopped posting around 2013/14 ish maybe, not too sure.

Seems like a life time ago and was just sat here wondering if anyone from then was still around, or if we all buggered off.

OP posts:

'Twigs and pebbly shite' was Cod, wasn't it?

Yvaine1 · 12/01/2019 12:55

Yrs trust nae fucker is one of sm's beauties.
Mouldies happened when I was away but it smacked of school girls childishness when I returned.

Frankie and Zoey and her wanky baskets anyone?

Yvaine1 · 12/01/2019 12:57

And the Mumsnet Detectiv Agency when that boy turned up in Berlin saying he had walked for w week in the forest after burying his dad? Iirc.

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 12/01/2019 13:02

I still love the “twigs and pebbly” shite. Quite like these but always refer to it as “twigs and pebbly shite”

I joined back in about 2003/2004 and remember Aloha, Cod and a few other names.

Also remember JudgeFlounce who said she(turned out to be a he as I recall) was a QC .

Moldies and the fallout from that got on my nerves a bit.

The site is now so huge that I rarely see the same names twice these days,

I have used various names over the years and left more times than I can count but always end up returning.

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 12/01/2019 13:25

In one of my old schools I got talking to a colleague about MN and she dropped in that she was a Mouldie. I was very starstruck (not really) (especially when she told me her username and I'd never heard of her,)

Smeeeeeee · 12/01/2019 13:34

I'd forgotten Isketch Grin Also Message in a bottle!

I still use > in the vain hope that someone will say ooooh creepy wee brackets Grin

Littlechocola · 12/01/2019 13:58

I had forgotten about the bloody message in a bottle. I wasted so much time on that.

Smeeeeeee · 12/01/2019 14:05

Me too! I just Googled it but can't find it Sad

Janetizzy30 · 12/01/2019 14:22

2005 here but diff name and email, remarried since

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 12/01/2019 15:10

I remember Moldies - and while I wasn't particularly involved, I remember a lot of the hurt that went with it because it was effectively cherrypicking of MN posters to join. Some were "blackballed" because one or other Moldie didn't want them to join, and that's where the real hurt came in, especially when it was people who'd been "friends" on MN for some time and one was invited but the other wasn't (I think that happened to Rhubarb and Custardo, but I could be wrong)
It was horrible to witness and really did feel like Mean Girls cliquiness. (Moldie was short for MN Oldies, as I recall)

BertieBotts · 12/01/2019 15:14

Message in a bottle is gone :( For a while there was a holding page saying they had moved to a facebook game but then that went as well. There's not even an app which is anything similar which is sad.

BertieBotts · 12/01/2019 15:15

Anyone remember wnaky baskets?? I always want to recommend them to people but then I end up having to explain what the wnaky thing is about and it becomes easier just to call it heuristic play :(

bibbitybobbityyhat · 12/01/2019 15:20

Anyone looking for SGB - just advanced search for the word "whining" posted in the last couple of months. You'll find her.

Tenementfunster · 12/01/2019 15:27

I joined around the time of UCD. I remember washwithcare troll. Loved scottishmummy and the lists and random stuff of gabbyloggon.

Tenementfunster · 12/01/2019 15:30

There used to be a fair few raids on netmums carried out as I recall. Also a poster who put up a picture of a child with plaits taken from the back and some sort of controversy that it wasn’t a real child or somesuch. That was a few years ago

AlexanderHamilton · 12/01/2019 15:49

You know despite having been a very prolific poster since 2002 the whole moldies thing totally passed me by.

MirandaWest · 12/01/2019 16:04

I was ill when mouldies happened. Plus was before the days of having a mobile phone that did internet and so it all happened while I was in bed/recovering. Is odd to think it was 10 years ago.

When was judge flounce? I remember that all unfolding - feels like not very long ago but probably about 2005 or something

MirandaWest · 12/01/2019 16:05

Just searched and was at the beginning of 2005 that mnhq posted to say what happened.

AlexanderHamilton · 12/01/2019 16:06

Ds was born in 2004 and I think Judge Flounce was afterhe was born.

User7777 · 12/01/2019 16:08

I've been here since 2006. Really long time lurker, I rarely post!
But, I did post about my husbands weird behaviour and mn told me it was an affair. It was. Now divorced for 12 years!

DubBeGoodToMe · 12/01/2019 16:18

ThumbWitches yy I remember the blackballing and Custardo and Rhubarb being prominent in some way but I can’t remember exactly how. It was a horrible mess, but compelling to watch unfold, due to how a few lovely-seeming posters seemed to act in a quite callous way.

BertieBotts at the risk of sounding like a stalker, you’re a poster I have always related to as (under previous names) I was on a few different threads with you. There were a couple of things you did/circumstances you had that I did too and I always admired your approach. I wanted to PM you during one thing ages ago to ask how you were getting in but never got round to it - I might now if that’s ok!

Oldieandbaddie · 12/01/2019 17:30

Moldies lost a lot of posters and emailed asking people to join or come back., no idea whether it’s still going, might not be.

BertieBotts · 12/01/2019 17:39

Yes do, dub! I am rubbish with PMs but will try and keep an eye out.

BertieBotts · 12/01/2019 17:41

Do you remember when it was CAT and you had to pay? Then it went free but you would essentially send your message/email via MNHQ who would read and pass it on. Or am I misremembering? Was it free to receive and people would CAT their email address to you?

DubBeGoodToMe · 12/01/2019 17:41

Thanks Bertie will do it now, give me 2 mins x
