Am I the only person who's never seen The Greatest Showman?

Am wondering if I am? Ive just never got around to watching it, but other people look at me like Ive got seven heads when I tell them because they are totally obsessed with it, went to see it about 20 times in the cinema and go to singalongs etc. I feel like I'm missing out on something. I am familiar with the songs though because they seem to be everywhere.

Ive never seen a Frozen either....

In the words of Michael Jackson, you are not alone. Seen and heard a couple of songs/clips. That’s enough. DDs came back from a friend’s having seen it, muttering something along the lines of...that’s a couple of hours we’ll never get back.....

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 04/01/2019 00:03

Oh yeah, and Mama Mia was painful.....

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 04/01/2019 00:03

.....as was La La Land

BettyFilous · 04/01/2019 00:07

I hate musicals. I am actively avoiding seeing this film.

GrungeSponge · 04/01/2019 00:13

I love musicals...but I haven't seen Greatest Shoeman.

Stuff like this seems to pass me by at the moment..maybe it's because I don't work with a team it's work?

I have seen Frozen a lot though...

SleightOfMind · 04/01/2019 00:17

You’re not alone. I haven’t seen Moulin Rouge, Mamma Mia or Greatest Showman, they’re just not my kind of films.
I’ve seen bits of Frozen though as I’ve got small DC. Was fine as far as kids films go but I wouldn’t choose to watch it for myself.

RaininSummer · 04/01/2019 00:21

Not seen it and don't p!an to. Not my sort of film.

ChubRubTheStruggleIsReal · 04/01/2019 00:23

It’s amazing!
I didn’t see it for a year after it came out (hate circuses, that was my reasoning), but I love it!!

Ethel80 · 04/01/2019 00:27

I recorded it over Christmas but I'm not sure why as I don't really want to watch it. Barnum seems to have been a massive arsehole and I doubt that's portrayed in the films

ComtesseDeSpair · 04/01/2019 01:06

I haven’t. I keep meaning to, but then wonder if I’ll find it a let down after all the fuss. (I’m nervous of Hamilton for the same reason - have tickets for next month and am really hoping it isn’t all overdressed hype and I’ll be disappointed.)

MissionItsPossible · 04/01/2019 02:00

I love Rocky Horror Picture Show!

Also Grease but Grease 2 is better

The best musical for me though, hands down, is South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut Grin

CarolDanvers · 04/01/2019 02:19

This was my face when it came on Sky Movies 😒. So no,not seen it,or MM, never watched any of the high school musicals either.

I don't hate musicals, it's just all a bit much. I'd love a musical with about three or four numbers in it but they always seem to be bursting into yet another song and my heart sinks a bit each time. Even Mary Poppins was song, song, song and I was thinking "oh ffs! Not another one".

Grease was great as was The sound of music but they just didn't seem to sing as much and no filler songs, they were ALL great.

derxa · 04/01/2019 02:35

It's one of these things that's constantly shoved down our throats. No

Weezol · 04/01/2019 02:46

MissionItsPossible A lovely former colleague always maintained that Grease 2 was superior to the original and he was absolutely unshakeable in his loyalty to it.

I too actively avoided Mama Mia - I had been quite fond of Abba, but working in bars and clubs at the same time as they were re-discovered by 90's kids means I heard my entire life time supply of Abba in approximately 18 months.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 04/01/2019 05:53

I haven’t seen it and have no desire to

Have seen clips with Hugh Jackman looking incredibly smug that 39 seconds was more than enough

Redyoyo · 04/01/2019 08:08

I was so disappointed with the Greatest Showman, my kids seen it at school and were excited for me to watch it when it came on sky. The songs were good but i was expecting something better.
Frozen is great though and so is grease 2!

ContadoraExplorer · 04/01/2019 08:09

Wouldn't worry about it, it's crap. I was looking forward to seeing it too, love a musical. Was disappointed.

BitchQueen90 · 04/01/2019 08:19

I've never seen it and I don't intend to. It's not my type of film at all, I don't like musicals and I've heard the songs so many times on the radio that they're just getting on my nerves now.

ShatnersWig · 04/01/2019 08:20

Never seen Greatest Showman, Frozen, Mamma Mia or any of the Matrix films (for some reason the latter really surprises people).

christmasisuponus · 04/01/2019 08:22

Shite

fuzzyface · 04/01/2019 08:26

I don't like musicals and I'm sick of them being shoved down my throat. That incredulous look you get, like you're one of the circus freaks off greatest showman, when you say you don't like one.

happypotamus · 04/01/2019 08:28

I've never seen Greatest Showman. I'd quite like to, because DD1 likes it and I'd like to see if it is any good, but I never get round to watching entire films. I have seen Frozen many times because I have DDs aged 4 and 7 so I couldn't really avoid it. Never seen Mama Mia because I don't really like any Abba songs

Oliversmumsarmy · 04/01/2019 08:28

I haven’t seen it and don’t intend to.

I still haven’t seen Star Wars either

Roystonv · 04/01/2019 08:32

Don't intend to see it or La La Land, Les Mis not for me either and meh to Moulin Rouge. Rather a grump about such shows really where I feel I am being forced to invest in the characters/story. Frozen I can watch; it's animation so not as 'draining' iyswim.

yogafailure · 04/01/2019 08:49

I liked it initially but on rewatching it's really quite guff. There's a couple of good songs but I fast forward through quite a lot of it.
