Am I the only person who's never seen The Greatest Showman?

Am wondering if I am? Ive just never got around to watching it, but other people look at me like Ive got seven heads when I tell them because they are totally obsessed with it, went to see it about 20 times in the cinema and go to singalongs etc. I feel like I'm missing out on something. I am familiar with the songs though because they seem to be everywhere.

Ive never seen a Frozen either....

We watched the first twenty minutes or so and switched it off

silentcrow · 03/01/2019 23:13

Nope, and I have no plans to, doesn't sound like my cup of tea at all. There's a whole medley of the songs in this year's Young Voices set (big choir thing for schools, if you haven't come across it) and all our kids think they know it so well they're yelling the words too fast and making a right balls of it. I'm sick of it and can't wait til the concert is done.

None of them can believe I haven't seen it and I had half of Y6 going "oooh you HAVE to watch it!". I took great delight in replying "Just because everyone else is doing something doesn't mean I have to." Grin

Moana > Frozen, though.

Flambola · 03/01/2019 23:15

I've seen half but it was boring so switched it off.

Thecomfortador · 03/01/2019 23:15

I haven't seen it or Frozen or either of the Mama Mia films. You are not alone.

pictish · 03/01/2019 23:17

No...I haven’t seen it. I’m not overly sold on musicals so it wouldn’t be an immediate choice for me but I hear such great things I’m curious now.
Might get round to watching it.

PerverseConverse · 03/01/2019 23:20

My DDs insisted we get it on dvd the other day as they love it and I'd never seen it. I enjoyed it. Nice escapism and pretty basic story line.
I like Frozen too although it's so uncool now for DDs 🙄

pictish · 03/01/2019 23:21

Moulin Rouge did nothing for me. I found Ewan McGregor singing quite uncomfortable somehow. I was embarrassed for him.

MissionItsPossible · 03/01/2019 23:24

I've seen Frozen but not The Greatest Showman. There is a song that gets played from it on the radio and I think it's on an advert too, I liked it the first time I heard it, the 10000x I heard it later all the time, not so much.

AntiHop · 03/01/2019 23:25

I've never seen greatest showman or moulin rouge.

WhyDontYouComeOnOver · 03/01/2019 23:26

I've seen it and wish I hadn't. Same goes for Mamma Mia - I really can't understand how anyone can bear to watch it.

SalmonLeBon · 03/01/2019 23:29

Greatest Showman
Moulin Rouge
Mama Mia
Titanic
Love Actually

Not seen any of them.

Until Boxing Day, you could have included Frozen in the list. Then SIL made me watch it. Two hours of my life that I want back, please.

diamantegal · 03/01/2019 23:32

Save yourself the effort - I've seen it for you and it's not worth it - DH started watching it with me but gave up. But do get the soundtrack for any DC - mine will belt it out at any opportunity.

Frozen is much better though - watch that one!

Sewrainbow · 03/01/2019 23:34

I haven't! No idea what it's about.

I borrowed frozen from a colleague as they'd raved about, showed it to my boys who liked it when young but now hate it. I love it one of the best kids films I think.

SudocremeQueen · 03/01/2019 23:36

Nope and no intention of, and yes get the 2 heads look.

Seen Frozen, young DN’s; and Mamma Mia; sis was desperate to see it. Have refused point blank to see 2.

Don’t get me wrong I love musicals but these…

elQuintoConyo · 03/01/2019 23:37

Not seen the Showman, no plans too either. Huge Ackman does nothing but irritate me.

Not seen Frozen as our 7yo DS is not interested. I did see a few snippets when it was on the box, but it didn't hold my interest.

MM I have seen once, mostly on fast forward. I am a huge Christine Baranski fan, so that was my reason for watching it.

Moulin Rouge I saw at the cinema and loved it, Jim Broadbent wrapped in lacy tablecloth singing 'like a virgin' cracked me up. Saw it again a couple of years later on dvd - omg what shite! Weird, huh.

It is fair to say I'm not a fan of musicals - I haven't seen Les Miserables. I did see Love Actually for the first time in August and shuddered all the way through. Hideous film.

I think I should just stick to mid-80s Arnold Schwarzenegger films and John Hughes Grin

pictish · 03/01/2019 23:39

Frozen is great.
I have seen a clip from the first Mamma Mia and as a genuine ABBA fan I thought it looked terrible.

pictish · 03/01/2019 23:40

Watched half an hour of Les Miserables but lost interest...very pompous.

snop · 03/01/2019 23:43

I only watched it the other day, I have to say I loved it.

Orangecushions · 03/01/2019 23:43

We watched the first twenty minutes or so and switched it off

^This

I quite enjoyed Frozen though

MrsDeanWinchester75 · 03/01/2019 23:44

I love it but do think it's over hyped, it's an easy watch with catchy synthetic anthem type songs.

Films I've never seen are any James Bonds or any Star Wars and don't plan to.

user764329056 · 03/01/2019 23:45

Never seen it, nor Moulin Rouge, nor Mama Mia, not my thing

pictish · 03/01/2019 23:47

Oh but not to be a negative Nellie...I love Grease, Calamity Jane, The Sound of Music.

I’ve seen The Rocky Horror Picture Show twice...thought it was rubbish both times.

cheesenpickles · 03/01/2019 23:54

Watched in New Year's Eve. It was ok... nothing particularly mind blowing.

CallMeSirShotsFired · 03/01/2019 23:55

It started when I was mindlessly watching Sky movies over Christmas.

I got a short way into the first song and had enough. It was all so earnest.

elQuintoConyo · 03/01/2019 23:57

Oh pictish" Calamity Jane! Fabulous film! I like to watch it as a double bill with Cat Ballou: Cat Ballou, Cat Ballloooou!
