I am !

I have bought a shiny new notebook.
I have been searching pintrest for bullet journal ideas.
This includes couch to 5k (for the 3rd time)

I really need to sort my health and fatness (not a typo) out .

So if you need a partner in crime to give you a nudge or a kick then please come and join me.

More importantly if you are one of the few miracles out there that day feeling like this last year and actually succeeded please come and tell me your tales.

All welcome.

Hi @TimelessOne another vote for contacting B-eat, I understand that they are very good and will probably be able to give you the support you need. Sending you lots of well wishes, I know that anorexia is s horrible illness.

I'm back on the healthy, wealthy and organised thing. I've received my first pay check in over year, I was on maternity leave so now I feel rich. After a week of recovery after my op, I'm back to work and that will help me on the healthy and organised front.

VanillaSugarCookies · 28/01/2019 01:23

I last posted 12 days ago!! And there's me going on at others saying they can't sneak off the thread Blush I have smacked my own hand don't worry! And tutted at myself!

In my defence I have been a bit off and not feeling myself at all. The diet went to shit and I haven't been focusing on moving much at all. I am (thankfully, FINALLY!!) starting to feel a bit better so I'm back on it tomorrow and going on a lovely long walk with DS.

It's lovely to see so many posters sticking to it and updating on their losses and bad days. Smile

The poster who wanted tips with housework. Do things as you go (wipe sink bleach loo when brushing teeth, clean shower when you're in it, wipe down sides when pan is boiling etc.). Biggest tip I can give you though is to look at the room you are leaving and take out whatever doesn't need to be there and put it where it is supposed to go. That way you aren't spending ages picking up clothes, toys, glasses, wrappers etc at night time when kids are in bed. Also the 1 touch method. Pick up the glass and put it straight in the sink. Don't put it on the table, then windowsill, then kitchen side, then sink etc...

Welcome back vanilla I have done the same as you , was ill for over a week and fell of the wagon .

But I am now back in it. This is a completely different way of living for me so I figure I am going to have a few blips. If losing weight was easy to stick to I wouldn't be fat in the first place.

I hope everyone has a good day. My plan today is to stick to my food plan and get over 10000 steps. Anything else s a bonus.

Hello again vanilla!

i think I need a kick please howlong - I'm not doing anything majorly wrong, but then neither am I making a massive effort. We've had no cash this week since DP lost his debit card so meals have been whatever I can scrape out of the freezer and cupboards! Desperately need a big shop but realistically it'll be next weekend. Plus DP has been suffering (and don't we all know it) with the man flu, I'm surprised I haven't turned to Wine Wine Wine to cope with the moans and groans.....

WhoseLineIsItAnyway · 28/01/2019 09:29

Hi all, I could do with a kick up the arse as well. Another one who's been ill and struggling. No running has happened since last Sun, and all of the carbs have been consumed. Hoping my lungs can tolerate a run this eve but may need to rewind a bit on my C25k.
Seem to have gained half a kilo since yesterday (probably mostly Wine ) and yes I know i probably shouldn't weigh myself that often but it's quite interesting to see the fluctuation- I'm basically almost exactly the same weight now as a week ago
Still, hi ho, off to work I go, with my healthyish packed lunch and a complete lack of enthusiasm!

RubySlippers77 · 28/01/2019 17:04

Did you muster up any enthusiasm Whose?!

DP bought the DC chocolate and cupcakes earlier. Aaarrrgghhh. I was tempted to scoff a little bit but was put off when I got changed earlier. DTS2 (3) looked at me thoughtfully and said "Mummy, you have a big bum" Confused

diamantegal · 28/01/2019 18:12

Just remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint. If it was easy to lose weight, we'd all be skinny, but it isn't.

I had a reasonable week last week so hoping to be a pound down when I weigh in tomorrow. Haven't been to the gym for over a week due to DH being away, but hoping to go tomorrow. And in the meantime, just trying to eat sensibly and not snack. And no midweek drinking, which is my definite downfall.

WhoseLineIsItAnyway · 28/01/2019 20:03

ruby zilch enthusiasm! My lunch was quite nice, but was genuinely the high point of my day! So impressed by your resisting chocolate! Harsh 3y/o though - big bums are all the rage these days!

diamante you're so right, i need to remember it took several years to reach this weight, it's not coming off overnight!
I'm also avoiding weekday drinking Friday is weekend, right? which I think is making the biggest difference.

ooooohbetty · 28/01/2019 20:14

Since new year I've been very marvellous during the week. 2 nutribuddy shakes for breakfast and lunch. Snacking on fruit. Quite a sensible evening meal. But come the weekend I blow it. I had 10 pints on Saturday. And a Chinese. Loads of shite on Sunday. Why do I do this?

WhoseLineIsItAnyway · 28/01/2019 20:54

betty think positive - you've done really well in the week.
I'm exactly the same. Slowly trying to break the "I deserve this" attitude to junk/binging after a "good" week but DH and I put away 2 bottles of wine and some toblerone last night so I have a way to go.

ooooohbetty · 28/01/2019 22:31

That is exactly how I think Whoselineisitanyway. I think I deserve it. It's just stupid.

RubySlippers77 · 29/01/2019 10:07

Perhaps you could treat yourselves with other things Whose and betty? I mean I am much the same, I 'deserve' some nice cake or whatever because I've resisted it for so long (not really!), but now I'm trying to make my own snacks so I always have something to hand if I want it. Plus if I want wine/ prosecco, I buy a mini bottle so I'm not tempted to hoover up even more. Not always the most money saving option but definitely better for my waistline (and my big bottom Confused)

Stayed the same for me this week, little bit off in terms of body fat though, fair enough. I have a wheeze and cough that Albert Steptoe would be proud of - yes, DP has passed on his man flu! - and couldn't work out why I was so flipping hungry yesterday. Then realised that my cough made me drink gallons of water, which were sloshing round in my tummy and making me long for some toast/ cake/ chips to mop it up with.....

A bit off thread but does/ will anyone have a Brexit store cupboard? I was reading up on it and it sounds like there will be shortages of some items, perhaps only short term, but all the uncertainty isn't helping matters. I'm going to buy in some staples like flour, pasta, rice, beans etc which wouldn't be entirely diet friendly but would keep us going. I'm also looking at doing more gardening to grow our own fruit and veg; this has been a dismal failure in the past, but hope springs eternal! Just wondered if anyone else had any suggestions? and I hope nowhere runs out of chicken nuggets or the DC will starve

shiveringtimber · 29/01/2019 10:10

Eating highland oatcakes and sipping whisky. Beautiful, fit, toned me starts... soon.Grin

ooooohbetty · 29/01/2019 13:27

Ruby I will try that. Will try the treat myself with smaller versions e.g not drink pints etc. No, no brexit stockpiling. Am not worried.

VanillaSugarCookies · 29/01/2019 23:54

Thanks for all of the responses Smile

I can feel a sore throat coming on, which means I'm getting ill again! Ah well, at least I won't be able to eat my emotions Grin

Today went okay-ish. Didn't log calories but also didn't eat much. I'm thankfully one of those people who loose their appetite when they aren't feeling too good. Maybe if I got sick more often I wouldn't be so fat Wink

Tomorrow I'm planning on drinking plenty of water and cleaning the house as my cardio. My floors haven't been hoovered since Sunday and DS keeps complaining there are bits stuck to his feet Blush

RubySlippers77 · 30/01/2019 20:50

Do give the smaller versions a try betty, I did find I drank less, if I had a bottle of wine open then I'd feel obliged to drink it and get my money's worth Wine however, my plan has been foiled by a friend giving me a bottle of wine this week! I'm not sure whether I'll make it to the end of dry January!!

I don't mind hoovering Vanilla (well, since we got a Dyson, anyway!) but I hate cleaning the kitchen floor Sad we have a steam mop, we have a normal mop, we have wipes..... still, I just can't be bothered.....

Been to the library today and got some books about gardening - this is all part of my plan to burn lots of calories gardening, do more stuff at home and generally turn into Barbara Good, except with a much bigger bottom, of course Sad we are going to do a bit of stockpiling as we have two people in the house with allergies who need specific medication and can't eat certain things, which narrows our choices down a bit. We'll be fine once my garden is up and running though, right?!

Oh and a dismal failure of a day for me, still feel rubbish and AF due now. Much chocolate has been consumed Blush

WhoseLineIsItAnyway · 01/02/2019 09:22

Happy Friday losers! And happy end of what felt like the longest January ever!

Hope the poorly folks are feeling a little better? I'm generally well but don't want to test my lungs with running in the cold yet. Maybe at the weekend...

Somewhat surprisingly, I ended January 3.5kg lighter than I started it! And then had Wine.

Onwards and downwards. Feb goals: get back on the running; work on my hoarding tendencies; 0.5kg weight loss per week.

RubySlippers77 · 01/02/2019 10:04

It was SUCH a long January Whose!! Well done on your 3.5kg off!

Plenty of snow here today but thankfully preschool is still on, hence I have the chance to come on MN Grin I managed to drop a heavy wooden shelf on my big toe yesterday and thought I'd got away without too much damage (couldn't see any bruising) but today my whole leg hurts! I must have really jarred it. And DP's gout is flaring up again, which means I'll have to do even more running around than usual Sad

Great idea with the Feb goals Whose! Mine are: do a big shop to make sure we have plenty of healthy food; more exercise; and work on the gardening. I'm ordering more seeds today!

Shockers · 01/02/2019 11:17

I sent in my evidence for Race at Your Pace today. I had only recorded 150 of the 200 miles I’d pledged to do, but I probably did around 180- a mixture of bike and walking, as I hurt my back right at the start of the month.

I’ve signed up for the February walking challenge with them and chosen 125 miles, so I’m going to have to be disciplined and record my distances daily.

It’s helped- I’ve lost half a stone. I’m crap at self motivation, so having a target makes me get off my arse.

I’ve also started yoga again, joined a C25K group, and I’ve joined a Nordic walking group which starts in two weeks. I invested in a pair of Acai thermal leggings for all this activity, at an eye watering £45, but they’re so brilliant, I’m ordering some more.

I’m quite determined that arthritis will not get the better of me this year, as it did last year. Increased motivation to move helps me to ignore crappy food in favour of healthier stuff too. I’m signed off work atm though, so I have time to invest in becoming healthier- I just need to entrench these habits so that they don’t fall by the wayside when I go back. 🤞

diamantegal · 02/02/2019 00:26

Whose, I am SO on board with your February goals. I need to get back to the gym and focus more on meal planning, because it makes such a difference to my week.

Still, I'm ending January 5lbs lighter than I started, so can't complain - just need to make sure it continues!

sockportal · 02/02/2019 10:40

Things slacked off for me towards the end of January after I had my surgery. I'm feeling ready to tackle February now. I'm planning on healthy vegan lunches, 10,000 steps a weekday and launching a successful house cleaning rota.

I think I put weight on after my surgery as I sat around eating cake wasn't very active. I'm not going to be hard on myself, I'm going to focus my efforts on getting back on track in February.

I've decided I'm going to try c25k when it's stops being freezing and icy.

fatpatsthong · 02/02/2019 13:09

Appreciate I came in, ranted then left but hello again.

I suck to my goals over the last 10 days and managed to go down 2.5lbs. Given the thyroid issue, I've decided to be pleased with a lb a week if that. That would see me back in the 10s by my next blood test which would be good.

Also had a couple of runs, 10k steps most ways and also found a gentle strength training routine on YouTube (lovely Jessica smith tv). Feb goal is to keep this up and do the strength stuff 3 times a week.

Well done to all the losers and good luck with all the goals!

WhoseLineIsItAnyway · 02/02/2019 13:21

shockers I definitely think I need a target to work towards. DH keeps asking when I'm actually signing up for a 5k and I reluctantly think he's got a point. Am now checking out Acai leggings!

sock definitely don't be hard on yourself, you need to take time to recuperate properly after surgery. Glad to hear that you are feeling ready now!

diamante great work on the 5lb loss!

ruby how's the toe? That sounded so painful Shock

Shockers · 02/02/2019 18:06

Whoseline, the Race at Your Pace thing is good because it spurs you on. You can choose the distance you want to achieve throughout the month, then as it says, do it at your own pace.

Howlongtillbedtime · 03/02/2019 09:54

Morning all. We have had a rough week with our teen ds so I haven't really been around. And my birthday so a few drinks too.
I have lost two pounds this week which is ok and I feel more back in control .

I will have a read and see how everyone is getting on But just wanted to quickly say hi !
