Looking for some inspiration...

Is there something that is relatively inexpensive (£100 max) that has had an good impact on your quality of life?

I have vouchers that need used.

Vibrator

I want an air fryer now! Don't even know what to start looking at!

If I had £100 to spend completely frivolously I'd buy some ridiculously high thread count sheets and bedding.

Phlippant · 29/12/2018 10:04

@BlimeyCalmDown

Ah but is it a magic wand? Now you ain't had a vibrator until you've had a magic wand 😂

CottonSock · 29/12/2018 10:15

Love this thread. I can confirm that a heated drier has changed my life, all my kitchen stuff, decent boots and slippers and my echo.

Def a decent vibrator! About 30-40 from Amazon.

Lovely small handbag I use every day. Fossil sage mini.

Oxo salt and pepper grinders that sit the right way up so no leakage. My x mas gift this year

Off to buy the defrosting device now.

CottonSock · 29/12/2018 10:20

How the hek does a defrost tray work? I assumed electric but it's not

TheLastNigel · 29/12/2018 10:25

Second hand dishwasher. We not longer argue about the dishes. The pile of unwashed dishes on the side no longer does my head in. The glasses sparkle which is very satisfactory. Best £75 I ever spent.

BlimeyCalmDown · 29/12/2018 11:03

@Phlippant funny you should mention that, came across that for 1st time at wk end, will need to give it another go!

Wool duvet.

A must for peri-menopausal women everywhere!

WordsFailMeAgain · 29/12/2018 12:29

Boring but I have to say I read this tip on MN for keeping on top of washing etc. Busy single mum with kids so my washing used to be done whenever I got chance, so I ended up with loads of piles of clothing on dining table/ kitchen worktop/ bedroom chairs etc.

I bought 3 different coloured plastic boxes and now all clean and dried clothes are folded straight into each box- e.g my stuff goes in the blue box, DD in yellow, DS in green etc.

Then boxes are taken upstairs when full and clothing put away. Any mucky clothes from their rooms are then put straight back in their coloured boxes and brought back downstairs. Saves the demolition of the washing piles when any of us were looking for a top/ socks and has totally helped me keep on top of the washing.

Told you it was boringGrin

greenpop21 · 29/12/2018 12:45

This one is free but will cost you time. Declutter. Priceless.

thebaronetofcockburn · 29/12/2018 12:56

My electric plate warmer. My elder daughter tried to nick it so I bought her one, too!

Label Maker - OH. MY. GOD. My kitchen cupboards are fricking awesome now and the joy it brings me is incredible.

Also Label Themed - Stamptastic. Literally takes one second to label school uniform. Looks neat. Doesn't wash off. We have much less 'lost property' incidents now.

Amazon Echo/Alexa - she is basically my slave.

Kindle. My luggage weights have halved for the past five years.

Decent Wellies for dog walking (with fleece lining). Proper game changer.

mountainlakes · 29/12/2018 14:35

Bandalettes. They are for chub rub and they now mean I can wear skirts and dresses in the summer.

BikeRunSki · 29/12/2018 15:56

Gap tall range tops
Almost every women’s top/T/blouse Gap do is available in “tall” or “long” online. I’m not that tall, but all my height is in my back and I have always struggled with an exposed midriff. No more. And Gap are constantly discounting.

notquitewhatIhadplanned · 29/12/2018 16:18

Contigo travel mug - never leaks and keeps drinks hot/cold for hours, saves me loads of money
Super king-size duvet - no tug of war in the night now

notsurewhatshappening · 29/12/2018 16:30

Philips Lumea (£160 so over budget)
Decent slippers
Nespresso machine
Snow boots- Trespass
Down coat and gilet from Lands End - to wear together on v cold days

notsurewhatshappening · 29/12/2018 16:31

Karcher window vac

CottonSock · 29/12/2018 17:42

Oh yes, window vac and a dehumidifier are a strange comfort to me :)

Fuel grip www.fuelgrip.com £2.49

Holds the petrol pump lever in so you don't have to. Great for anyone with painful hands or very large cars. It also fits the trigger button on a handheld Dyson.

I've been compiling this list since yesterday! I'm sure I can think of more

The one thing from below I couldn't do without is the Lakeland tap adapta...look it up, it will change your life!!

-Lakeland-Tap Adapta Spray Adjuster £10 (turns any normal tap into one you can swivel and change from gush to spray)

-Next-Heat Holders Thermal Socks £12 (I have LIVED in these over Xmas)

-Finacea Cream (prescription only). I add this as I’ve had acne rosacea for years with bumps under the skin and pimples. After paying £90 excess for private appt I was recommended this and almost overnight my skin has cleared up...after paying nearly £500 over years on various over the counter products.

-Marks and Spencer-Microwavable Steamer £10. Keeps veg nice and crisp and takes 3 mins to steam veg

-£30 Costco membership. We have saved SO much money this Christmas

-Silicone oven gloves. Saved many a burnt hand!

-Bath tray with space for iPad and glass of wine...I have been known to disappear for a bath for over an hour and use the time to catch up on my trashy soaps!!

I also second a sharp knife and soda stream!!

Right, I’m off now to buy a defrosting tray and air fryer 😆
