Looking for some inspiration...

Is there something that is relatively inexpensive (£100 max) that has had an good impact on your quality of life?

I have vouchers that need used.

Some corkers here that I'm already checking out.

Stick on led lights for lighting up corners of the room. Have them above pictures. So nice. £16 from amazon.

That glass egg timer you put in the pan with eggs that tells you how soft/hard boiled your egg is. Changed my life.

Toaster tongs - no more burnt fingers getting crumpets, tea cakes etc out of the toaster. We love these so much 😍😍😍😍
No quite so cheap but my air fryer is amazing and made Xmas dinner so much easier by doing the roasties and pigs in blankets in it.

For all the fans of an airfryer, can you tell me what brand you like? And do you need to spend a lot to get a good one suitable for a family of 4? Thanks!

dogzdinner · 28/12/2018 07:46

@bootygirl could you tell me where you got the balls from please?

RitaTheBeater · 28/12/2018 08:09

Remus, there are often those diaries in TKMaxx.

bootygirl · 28/12/2018 09:48

dogzdinner I live in Ireland. But the brand I have are yoga tune up therapy balls (the roll model). I have small feet size small so have the small size but I don't think it matters. About €25-30.
I use them against a wall or on yoga mat. Also use to help with migraine. You wash the, in mild soapy water and they are rubber and bouncy.
Best thing I ve ever used. Light weight for travelling. Honestly.

A bread maker.
Waking up and smelling fresh bread in the morning is lovely. As is eating it.

CherryPavlova · 28/12/2018 10:06

Walking
Wild swimming
Singing badly.

All free and all life affirming. I can’t think of many items or objects that have made a similar impact.

How would I spend vouchers? Good boots for winter walking through mud.

Anyone interested in the Squatty Potty, there is a surprisingly fascinating long Guardian article about them - "the push to change the way we poo".

@thenightsky No wonder you were getting thrush using shower gel on your bits. Just use water!

MrsLucas · 28/12/2018 12:54

Sheepskin slippers (life changing in my draughty old house).

A really beautiful wrap/scarf in fabulous colours that also keeps you warm.

A bottle of perfume you really, truly adore. (Makes every day better).

Maiden - your cat has a doppelganger (or we are feeding the same one???).

AllTakenSoRubbishUsername · 28/12/2018 13:04

Some things I bought recently: A decent Bialetti stove-top coffee maker, Le Creuset iron griddle for steaks, etc and a mega-storage device to plug into the laptop for backing up photos.

Palestperson · 28/12/2018 13:08

Babyliss Big Hair has made my hair infinitely nicer.

Spending £100 on throws, cushions and a few accessories for my living room in new colours has totally changed the feel and look of the room and made it a much nicer place to spend time.

lotusbell · 28/12/2018 14:44

@wellhonestly, where are the boxer style pants from please?

Carbsnomarbs · 28/12/2018 15:24

Marking place to put on my list later on Wink

Sammysquiz · 28/12/2018 15:32

An egg boiler. Seemed a bit pointless at first as boiling an egg is so easy, but means you can just whack the eggs in and wait for the beep, no need to watch a pan to start timing from the boiling point. Perfect eggs every time!

Wineloffa · 28/12/2018 15:37

Babyliss Big Hair gave me lovely bouncy sleek hair.

A fitness tracker (like a Fitbit) but cheaper. Helped me lose weight.

greenpop21 · 28/12/2018 15:50

Walking boots, my feet are still thanking me on my daily dog walks.

morningconstitutional2017 · 28/12/2018 16:21

A fold-up shopping bag with lanyard which attaches to my handbag.

Concertina purse with loads of slots for cards.

Pretty calendar for kitchen wall - no excuses for forgetting things.

skinthecat · 28/12/2018 16:28

3 things that have changed my life this year:

Blue badge. Bit bittersweet because it's an acknowledgement of just how fucked up I am and the realisation that I won't get better (long term chronic pain). Means that I can actually park at the kids school instead of having to park a few streets away and drag myself in. Can also park close to the entrance of the local softplay/farm park/wherever so when I'm having a bad day I can still take the kids out and about. Cost me a tenner.

On a more cheery note:

The moggy. She cost me £60 from a rehoming centre plus £40 to be microchipped/neutered. She is the cuddliest cat I have ever known and loves nothing better than sitting on your shoulders like a purring furry scarf or in your lap.

3 pairs of those super thick fluffy socks. My feet are perennially cold and these make such a difference. Cost iirc £11.99

Rafflesway · 28/12/2018 16:28

Amazon Fire stick! Amazing what you can do with it if you do your homework. 😁

Bye, bye Sky!
