I made it through Christmas Day with half a cold, but it has arrived with a vengeance overnight and I’m up and stuffy and coughing and bleurgh, so I would like to see fluff balls and good dogs please.

We will almost definitely be getting a dog in the spring and I’m looking for inspiration.

Please? I promise I will see that each and every individual dog is clearly the best dog.

Here is mine, on a 3 hour walk this morning. I am shattered. He is not. He never gets let off that hideous bright yellow lead because he has an obsession with small and not-so-small furry things, and has fuck all recall. I’ve lost quite a bit of weight since he arrived...

Our cypriot rescue dog howling in the breeze, and looking fierce in his christmas jumper . We love him to bits.

He is the best company and gets on with all our other animals. Barney the poodle schnauzer cross

Here’s our Pearl at Christmas two years ago. She died in July this year, way too early, and I’m still heartbroken. Thinking of re-homing another dog end of January... life without a dog is very dull.

Great thread OP, hope you find the right dog for you soon! You could maybe try breed rescues if you find a breed you think would suit.

This is my little guy. His first Christmas. He has little man syndrome but he is a mummy's boy and with being disabled, he keeps me company. Wouldn't swap him for the world. X

My silly pointer, now and as a pup. He's a lovely dog, very well-behaved at home but pulls like a train on the lead!

We went dog spotting in the park this afternoon

DH has been a bit nervous of the idea of bigger dogs, but I’m keen on labradors, so we went to size them up. Actually stopped a couple of lab owners to ask about their dogs. They were very friendly and happy to chat . I already knew most of what they told me from research, but it was a chance for DH to see how he felt up close. He liked them, yay!
