I've been spoilt rotten this year by DP to be fair but my favourite is probably a necklace with our new little boys initial in it because DP actually uses his head and it was thoughtful and I love it!

It's not the worst but I guess most people would find it strange - I've just bought a truck and DP got me a set of those chrome roll bar type things to go on it (I think that might be a present for him, disguised a present for me!!!)

Osirus · 25/12/2018 23:49

Best: Barbour jacket.

Worst: cooking utensils- I do like them, just a bit odd Smile.

BrigitsBigKnickers · 26/12/2018 00:00

Best gift was a new I phone 8! ( my old 5s is over 5 years old)

Strangest was a huge barn owl statue from my dad. ( I collected owls when I was a teenager 40 years ago) it is massive! Not the sort of thing that can sit tastefully on the sideboard with the other small owl ornaments I kept.
However for the past 5 years he has bought me a bottle of champagne and a box of chocolates so at least he thought of something different bless him!

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 26/12/2018 00:13

Best gift - Dyson Airwrap

For once, I didn't have any bad gifts, I loved each and every one of them.

Dilligaf81 · 26/12/2018 00:17

sunshinesupermum message me if buy the Orla kiely case of you. I love her stuff

TryItAndDieFatLass · 26/12/2018 00:19

Best was a new hat from DH, total surprise and fits with my new job
Worst - either a tea towel, some face wipes or liquid soap from my mum. In her defence my twattish brother picks the presents for her now as she is partially sighted and he fell out with me 2 years ago!

BobLemon · 26/12/2018 00:25

Best/most bizarre - a model railway carriage which has my name on. It’s not personalised, it’s a legitimate imitation of a ye olde waggon, which must have been real at some time. Unusual name. apparently the SDCs spotted it in a model shop while on holiday in summer and they had it stashed for ages. I love it.

Worst/also bizarre - SDD12 has given OH a whiteboard. No idea.

RaininSummer · 26/12/2018 00:53

Best gift is a tie between my framed Bowie stamps and lovely thoughtful pendant. Worst gift was a bag of pork scratchings wrapped for me in error by oh who then took them back and ate them which I didn't mind as I don't eat meat.

Jozen · 26/12/2018 01:03

A child's plastic figurine of Aquaman because I once said that Jason Momoa is quite a handsome fella.
DH reckons it was a joke pressie which is fine but not when it's your only present.

To add insult to injury the figurine looks nothing like Jason Momoa anyway. Looks more like Mr Bean with long hair Grin

Titsywoo · 26/12/2018 01:19

Best was the beauty spa voucher dh got me. Worst a Laurence Llewelyn Bowen candle. Horrid smell.

SusieQ5604 · 26/12/2018 02:01

Best: painting I bought myself (single so buy my own every year)

Worst: Lint rollers from my dd (to be fair, there IS a lot of cat hair in my house )

ohamIreally · 26/12/2018 02:29

Best: beautiful necklace from a friend
Worst: black and red suspender belt 2 sizes too small from DM
DM also bought 2 dresses for DD 4 sizes too small and an Upsie Daisy doll (she's 9).

Howyoualldoworkme · 26/12/2018 07:46

AlanThePig Nothing to do with the thread but I just have to say "Under His Trotter" Wink

AlanThePig · 26/12/2018 10:18

@Howyoualldoworkme Grin
Alan and pearl had a lovely day!

Should perhaps also mention DD bought me a crab bell too which I'm pretty thrilled with. All hail.

AlwaysWantedToBeATenenbaum · 26/12/2018 10:35

Best - a pair of glasses from the Queens Silver Jubilee (I’m a collector)

Strangest - an air fryer for chips. Completely random as I have never expressed interest or the need for one. In fact I think they’re pretty pointless

amnotreallysure · 26/12/2018 11:49

The worst for me is always something from my parents. It's nice to do something, but they seem to have no idea of what I like. I'm always amazed! This year it was a subscription for Apple Music. I don't have an iPhone, I'm Samsung.

Best for me is going back a few years. Hitachi Magic wand Blush from DH. As a person in late 40s, it literally changed my life, first ever O, made me interested again.

FabulouslyFab · 26/12/2018 13:15

Googles Hitachi Magic Wand .....oooh ..... Grin

ScreamingBadSanta · 26/12/2018 13:22

TheTurnOfTheScrew

I actually like that! Xmas Blush I am a mad cat woman, though!

itssquidstella · 26/12/2018 13:33

Best: some ASICS running shoes from DH, £250 to spend on our new flat from my parents, and some lovely rose gold earrings from PIL.

Worst: a hideous purple yoga top in size 12-14 (I'm a 10) from MIL.

Overall I've had some lovely things including lots of gin and scented candles, so I'm happy!

Johnnycomelately1 · 26/12/2018 13:34

Best: Bose noise cancelling ear buds for sleeping that you can play soothing white boise through. A-ma-zing.

Worst: Ankle bracelet that is too small to go round my ankle (I actually have quite slim ankles so a bit perplexed, then re-read the description and realised I was meant to order an extension chain. Now its just a bracelet). Worst bit is that I bought it for myself.

BillywigSting · 26/12/2018 13:36

Best gift is a beautiful cashmere and merino wool scarf from the avoca handweavers off my dad, and tickets to see war of the worlds live from dp. (and the Harry Potter mug that ds(5) picked for me)

Worst is off mil, fluffy Christmas themed pj's that don't fit and a hideous oxblood fake leather bag, with massive plastic 'gems' and a big gaudy gold chain handle. The glue on the gems is visible and it just looks very cheap and tacky and nothing at all like what I would use. Dp got a games console and designer trainers off her Grin

ohtheholidays · 26/12/2018 22:20

Best a gorgeous double framed picture of my Mum and Dad on they're wedding day and on the day they renewed they're vows 50 years later that the loveliest Brother in the world(my Big Brother)gave me.

My Mum and Dad have both passed on and my brother knows I'm still struggling with that.

Worst, sadly most of the things my DH bought me,he's a good Husband but my God he's shit at presents, this year has been the worst,it's so bad I've said I'd like us to stop exchanging stockings with each other.I'm also thinking of buying my own presents next year and he can wrap them.

I wouldn't mind but despite the fact that I'm very ill, disabled and have FND I always do most of the Christmas shopping and I always buy things he,our 5DC,my family and his family love and yet he seems to completely forget who I am as a person when he shops for me. Sad
