dcs went to bed no trouble... for the first time this month I'd hasten to add.

my dh is building the baby's Xmas present. I've done my jobs and am settled with a glass of fizz.... but I've just remembered I have a last minute present to wrap 🤦‍♀️

DC have gone to bed post Peter Rabbit. They seem settled but last year I had to set my alarm for 2am to do presents. I tried to get everything under the tree this year but 8 year old wouldn’t have it.

EnglishRose1320 · 24/12/2018 21:27

Ds2 is in bed and I think finally asleep. Ds1 is watching t.v, is highly anxious about Christmas and is unlikely to sleep tonight. However I am far more organised than previous years so feel quite relaxed anyway. Contemplating whether to head to midnight mass or not. Oh won't have wrapped my presents yet so if I go he can do that with ds1.

EastMidsGPs · 24/12/2018 21:30

Had picky tea that DM is still tutting about..
She's planned her full Emmerdale fix for the holiday season Confused

DH in shower, once he's ready we are off to midnight mass. Looks a bit crisp out so should be an invigorating stroll there and back.

We're all on the sofa watching Wayne's World, with a tin of shortbread and a large pot of tea. We've spent most of the day educating the kids by watching classic films - Die Hard, National Lampoon, Terminator...

The DCs are all teenagers so no need for elaborate Santa preparations this year!

Mixedupmummy · 24/12/2018 21:32

quite a variety of things going on!

hope those of you not relaxing get done soon!

Children in bed, food prepped, lying in front of stove drinking hot lemon, ginger and honey. DH gone up to roof space to get Santa presents.

Sang a few carols round the piano before bed - DD 5 only knows Away in a manger but it is adorable to hear her singing it.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 24/12/2018 21:35

Woodburner on, first glass of wine since July 2017 as just finished bfing! Homemade mince pies.

All presents wrapped, kitchen cleaned, 3 dc in bed..... although waiting to put presents under tree in case DD1 wakes up, and DD2 is teething so we may still have a night of ups and downs....

Prisonbreak · 24/12/2018 21:37

Sitting in my hotel room after a 5 hour drive to visit family. Drive the 5 hours back tomorrow :(

HollySwift · 24/12/2018 21:41

All 4 of my kids were in bed by 7 - their choice. My eldest is nearly 12 Grin

They’ve not come out - I’ve never seen them so eager to sleep. Honestly not ever.

So, DH and I are watching Back in time for Christmas and eating cheese. Waiting just a bit longer before we start bringing anything in. DH needs to go in the loft to retrieve mine and his stockings, poor sod!

BoringSoupBeforeTheTurkeyFeast · 24/12/2018 21:42

We’re watching the Paddy and Keith Lemon thingy on tv, with posh crackers and cheese and Jaffa cakes. Not at the same time obviously.

I’ve got my Xmas pyjamas ready on the bed for later, and will be taking the Xmas pressies up to open in bed tomorrow morning 🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲

Inkspellme · 24/12/2018 21:47

I’m sitting watching NCIS with DS (16). Currently waiting on DH and DD to come in from DD’s work. She finished at nine but is an hour away so DH picked her up.

I finished a quilt for my dad (just in time!) and I wrapped the last of the Christmas presents.

Looks like it got out of hand though and the cat got wrapped 😀

Sunhill4 · 24/12/2018 21:49

I am sitting upstairs by myself watching tv as dh isn't talking to me & hasn't since last Friday. Merry bloody Christmas!

bridgetosomewhere · 24/12/2018 21:49

DS are asleep. Dh and ddog are watching tv and I'm in the bath waiting til 1030 when I can put the presents out and go to bed.
Got a stinking cold and not feeling very Christmassy for the first time ever!!!

Hippopotas · 24/12/2018 21:49

Drinking wine and watching midsomer murders

frogsbreath · 24/12/2018 21:50

Me & DH watching tv, eating cheeseboard

Ds (6) constantly coming downstairs saying nothing on earth can make him sleep tonight. Grin

Lyn29 · 24/12/2018 21:50

In- laws stayingI'm still trying to get my 7 year old to bed who is beyond excited so I can put her presents out, have a glass of rose and then sleep!!!

bridgetosomewhere · 24/12/2018 21:50

Oh sunhill that's rubbish. What happened?

MaisyPops · 24/12/2018 21:50

We have family visiting and I've taken to hiding in my room drinking my wine and mumsnetting under the guise of wrapping presents that have been wrapped for weeks so I can have a moment of headspace.
Blush

Thankfully the MN Christmas threads have been a good pick me up.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 24/12/2018 21:50

All presents wrapped, watching telly while DH snoozes. DS is in his room watching Netflix. I'll be sorting out his stocking in a bit.

PlainVanilla · 24/12/2018 21:53

Nothing at all. I am here, alone, as for most of the past 15 years. I have just made bread sauce and have enjoyed Victoria Wood as well as some single malt whisky.

Mercedes519 · 24/12/2018 21:54

I’ve just eaten most of Father Christmas’s mince pie and wondering what to do with the carrot. DD (8) is on the cusp and i’ve been feeling she’s been humouring me a little this year...

Mixedupmummy · 24/12/2018 21:54

Sang a few carols round the piano before bed

I love this and didnt think people did this any more. we have an old and out of tune piano that I can play a couple of basic Christmas songs with one hand. must practice for next year.

also very jealous of all the cheese. I'm dairy free this year as bf dc3 and he's allergic.

JohnnyMcGrath respect for giving up alcohol for so long. I've abstained while pregnant and whilst dc are very small but after a few months I'll have the odd glass of something on special occasions. and giving up cheese and wine would just be too grim Grin

Inkspellme · 24/12/2018 21:55

@sunhill4 - that’s rotten. Hope tomorrow is better.

LBOCS2 · 24/12/2018 21:56

Until DM died we used to do it every year @Mixedupmummy. It was lovely. We sold her piano this year - neither of us have room for a grand piano in our houses, but it was sad. When we move I'm intending to get another one so my DC can have that memory too.

WhereHaveTheyGone12 · 24/12/2018 21:56

DH is watching some nonsense film which I won’t even pretend is entertaining.

I’m just mumsnetting to avoid tidying the kitchen after our massive cheese board super Grin

Currently pregnant with DC1 so I’ve tricked myself by putting pink lemonade into a champagne flute as tis the season and all that!
