Does anyone else feel meh about cheese and not get the fuss over it?

I eat cheese but only certain types and I prefer to cook with it or melt it on toast than eat it in chunks. It's nice but I've never understood the adoration. I've never had a cheeseboard in my life. The thought of eating chunks of something so savoury after a meal, especially the strong smelling type doesn't appeal.

This isn't a criticism of anyone who loves the stuff but I'm just curious to know if others are indifferent to cheese or like it but don't rave about it? It can't just be a love it or hate it thing surely?

The thing I miss most being pregnant is cheese!

I would much rather have a cheese board after a meal than something sweet.

Andallwaswell · 18/12/2018 20:10

I could live just off cheese alone

I never have it after a meal because I'm always too full. But I love cheese. Maybe you just haven't found the cheese of your dreams yet...

Mokepon · 18/12/2018 20:14

Well, I like cheese a lot but I'd very rarely choose a cheeseboard as I'm not terribly fond of blue cheese and there is invariably one there.
However, love brie, camembert, strong cheddar, manchego, parmesan....I'm not sure I'm answering the question but I'm making myself hungry!!

longwayoff · 18/12/2018 20:15

M&S Cornish Cruncher Cheddar. Cheese of dreams.

The thing I miss most being pregnant is cheese!

There's plenty of cheese you could eat. Even the ones you're supposed to avoid can be eaten if cooked. You can eat hard blue cheeses even if they are unpasteurised too

dementedpixie · 18/12/2018 20:17

Although I don't really eat cheese unless it's part of a meal

SuperSange · 18/12/2018 20:17

I don't like cheese. I've tried a few over the years and I haven't liked a single one.

I'll get my coat. BlushBlush

I can only do little bits of cheese at a time but I'm strange about dairy in general - only drink skimmed milk and hate cream based foods with a passion.

Catsandbootsandbootsandcats · 18/12/2018 20:19

I like cheese melted on jacket potatoes, pizza, lasagna etc. And the occasional cheese and pickle sandwich.

That's it. It's not that great really, and most of it is horrible.

Don't flame me! More cheese for all you cheese lovers. Grin

Doggydoggydoggy · 18/12/2018 20:20

I love cheese!

Cheese on toast, cheese with figs, cheese on burgers, baked Camembert with crunchy bread, sometimes I like to just grab a spoon and eat —the whole— bag of Parmesan, chilli cheese, smoked cheddar cheese...

How can anyone not love cheese?!?!

shopgirl18 · 18/12/2018 20:21

Reported!

😉

contblin · 18/12/2018 20:21

Cheese is my reason for being yabu

ILoveDolly · 18/12/2018 20:22

Cheese is life. And my main reason I could never be vegan.

CountFosco · 18/12/2018 20:24

IHaveBrilloHair · 18/12/2018 20:26

Ugh, how could you say this Angry

hmmwhatatodo · 18/12/2018 20:26

I don’t understand cheese with stuff in it like bits of fruit.

Soubriquet · 18/12/2018 20:29

No I don’t get it either

I’ll have a cheese sandwich or cheeseburger or cheese with my jacket potato and that’s that

doris9034 · 18/12/2018 20:29

I could say the same for desserts - especially chocolate ones! Give me cheese any day- but each to their own Xmas Grin

IHaveBrilloHair · 18/12/2018 20:29

I've been to fancy restaurants a few times and they have a cheese trolley.
They wheel it up to the table.
Honestly, it was all I could do not to climb in it.Blush

mrbob · 18/12/2018 20:30

No cheese is the ONLY hard bit about being vegan. Although once you stop eating it for a few months it gets WAY easier

TheFaerieQueene · 18/12/2018 20:30

Doesn’t bother me, over in the vegan corner 🤣
