Rator-rator = radiator
Snarwich = sandwich
My heart is getting scared =when he's nervous or worried

DS 3years

When Dd was still in a high chair and had limited vocab, we were at a restaurant and she popped one of those after-dinner chocs (that you get on a plate with the bill) in her mouth. Just then, the waitress returned with the card machine and breezily asked, “was everything ok with your meals?” Perfectly timed, my DD piped up loudly “tastes yukky”. I had to explain it was the chocolate - she’d never had dark chocolate before and it was a bit bitter for her.

Trumpton · 18/12/2018 00:26

I was in a coffee shop with dgd last week .she is 2 years 3 months . I had a hot chocolate and she had her usual of pombears and apple juice .
She patted my arm and declared herself to be “ Happy girl “

We don’t get many quiet moments together like that as she is the youngest and it made me very sentimental .

warmastoast · 18/12/2018 02:54

When I was stopping bf-ing my 2 yr old would try his best to flatter me into giving in, saying it was chocolate mi (breastmilk). A few months later and he’s stopped but has moved onto calling my boobs pizza and ice cream and trying to add toppings and putting in an imaginary oven/ fridge...

Breakfast = breadfast
Toothpaste = toothtaste

Since sleeping in his own room he’s starting bursting into my room shouting mummy!!!! and taking a running jump into my arms 😍 and a full half hour of snuggles and I love you mummy’s until he’s up and off to his usual toddler business.

StylishDuck · 18/12/2018 03:07

My nearly 4yo says "lasterday" instead of yesterday and an ambulance is a "nankulance". She also quite often pronounces the letter v as a b so her jacket has "sleebs" and she wears "glubs" on her hands. I'll be sad the day she stops saying things like this.

justilou1 · 18/12/2018 03:11

My daughter (who is twelve now) used to loathe getting her finger snails cut. It is now firmly stuck as part of our family lexicon much to her horror.
And her twin brother used to cry at the idea of being forced to eat anything with "soil" sauce. Can't get enough dumplings and spring rolls down his neck now, of course.

AustralianMumof2 · 18/12/2018 03:18

My 3 year old just drew his plastic sword to me and said ‘in the name of the King!’

sugarspicenotsonice · 18/12/2018 06:42

Another one for glubs (gloves) here! Love that!

SoupDragon · 18/12/2018 06:52

Mine are all teenagers now so I had my favourite toddlerisms printed onto mugs. They make me smile whenever I see them in the cupboard!

Buccatee? for "cup of tea is" probably the most appropriate.

sugarspicenotsonice · 18/12/2018 09:00

Also 'what you tryna do mummy' said in a really cute accent, when I'm doing anything... 'driving darling...' 😂

And what's that is?

Crackers1428 · 18/12/2018 09:34

Communists really cracked me up 😂

mastertomsmum · 18/12/2018 09:58

My faves from when my DS was little were:

Sitting in high chair 'meewee' aka feed me.

Toy ambulance was 'emerged de ambdience'

When playing kings and queens 'Sit here your emergency'

Fave similar thing this reminds me of:

Our Deputy Head Teacher telling us that on Remembrance Day she crept up to the War Memorial to see how hot it was because she thought it was called a 'Warm Memorial'

sugarandspicenotsonice · 18/12/2018 10:09

As a family we refer to McDonald's as chicken juggets as that's what my son calls it, we do get odd looks!

Midge75 · 18/12/2018 11:34

My DD used to call the Fat Controller from Thomas the Fa Kingcola, which doesn't sound so polite when said out loud!

Midge75 · 18/12/2018 11:35

And my other DD called Pocahontas Ponca Poncas, which we love!

blamethesantahat · 18/12/2018 11:44

In our house we have chicken yogurts instead of nuggets, another one with glubs for gloves and merote instead of remote. There have been plenty more, but less so as ds is 5.6yo

SixButterflies · 18/12/2018 11:45

We still call ice lollies "ollohs" as that how the now 4 year old used to pronounce it when she was a toddler.

SixButterflies · 18/12/2018 11:47

Oh, and we now have "reindiator" for reindeer.

kaitlinktm · 18/12/2018 11:59

My daughter suggested we needed to look at the “destructions” to a game. It’s now our family word for instructions.

Ours is interruptions which somehow evolved from interstructions.

kaitlinktm · 18/12/2018 12:03

Also wasn't Whirlybirds an old TV series about helicopters? Perhaps some dc are having flashbacks!

notmagicanymore · 18/12/2018 14:10

'I'm going to take my soup case to the crunchy side'

translation: 'I'm going to take my suitcase to the countryside'
(aged 3)

Love crunchy side! I think its quite apt as we always holidayed in the countryside in Autumn.

I'm old enough to remember my Mum's Woman's Own having a 'The things our kids say!' column on the readers page. This thread is giving me flashbacks....

Marmite27 · 18/12/2018 14:14

My 3 year old hasn’t got pronouns sorted. She doesn’t exist everything is her.

When Father Christmas asked about her baby sister she replied ‘her is X, her a good girl’ 🥰

sugarandspicenotsonice · 18/12/2018 14:14

As more of you post it reminds me of others! My son used to call paw patrol 'chee troll'

My friends daughter used to call her blanket a key and said to me ah she's been screaming for a key all morning, I don't know what she means, it clicked for me! (Blanky) she still has her key now age 5!

My son also used to say eeeeee is, for here it is!

DS today on the way to nursery - it was dark and raining - 'Mummy It's very night still and the sky is sad crying.' I thought it was quite poetic, a bit Dylan Thomasish.

sugarandspicenotsonice · 18/12/2018 14:41

Just remembered jumpabean from trampoline 😍
