Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U

I think it's the song plus the video combined that get me

AlpineButterfly · 15/12/2018 20:59

Eric Clapton - tears in heaven
Don McLean - wonderful baby reminds me of the first baby I lost
Rod Stewart - Batman, Superman, Spider-Man I gave birth to my first son while this song was playing

LikeSilver · 15/12/2018 21:07

Wild Horses - Rolling Stones
Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Silence - Glassjaw

I’m not a huge fan, but I used to sing ‘Your Song’ by Elton John to my firstborn when she was teeny tiny to get her to sleep, and it takes me back now Smile

Dizzylin · 15/12/2018 21:29

Anybody singing "Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas", no idea why but gets me every time.

Also Alfie Boe singing "Bring Him Home"

East 17 a - Stay Another Day. It is about Tony Mortimer’s brother’s suicide. I saw an interview he gave once about it and i cry everytime i hear it. When you know what the song is about you really hear the lyrics and can picture the events.

SimplySteve · 15/12/2018 21:35

The vid of Bloodstained Heart by Darren Hayes is a tear jerker, the song is about his sister. Stay Another Day indeed, David Cook - Permanent is about his terminally ill brother.

Flaming Lips - Do You Realize?
Super Furry Animals - Venus and Serena
Van Morrison - Brown Eyed Girl
Antony and the Johnsons - Hope There's Someone
Nick Cave - Into My Arms
Ella Fitzgerald - But Not For Me

AnnieOH1 · 15/12/2018 22:48

Any of the versions of 9/11 Heaven (been done on different anniversaries from a young kid to the child's wedding day) - every single time.

Old Shep - Elvis version in particular.

The Old Rugged Cross, not because of it's lyrics per se but because it reminds me of my grandparents funerals.

And now I'm gonna have got earworms all night, grabbing the tissues now!

vampirethriller · 16/12/2018 03:36

O Holy Night especially sung by Celine Dion
Feather on the Clyde by Passenger.

MsLToe · 16/12/2018 03:59

Songbird is utterly beautiful but as I’m more familiar with the Joni Mitchell version it has to be that one.

And the Roberta Flack version of First Time Ever I Saw Your Face

MsLToe · 16/12/2018 04:04

IGNORE WHAT I JUST SAID! I somehow got Songbird and Both Sides Now mixed up (I know, right?!) and I meant to say that I love Joni singing Both Sides Now.

Eva Cassidy singing Songbird is indeed the definitive version.

MsLToe · 16/12/2018 04:07

And, I must say, unbelievably beautiful.

Vitalogy · 16/12/2018 04:35

Hurt - Johnny Cash

swimmerforlife · 16/12/2018 05:52

The Luckiest - Ben Folds
Butterfly Fly Away - Miley Cyrus
You Sang to Me - Marc Anthony

mathanxiety · 16/12/2018 06:04

Slipping Through my Fingers - Abba
Good Morning Starshine - Oliver (brings me back to childhood)
Morningtown Ride - Seekers (same reason)
Cent Mille Chansons - Frida Boccara

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 16/12/2018 06:21

Push the sky away - Nick Cave
Will you - Hazel O’Connor

MsLToe · 16/12/2018 06:28

This Woman’s Work?

Ohyesiam · 16/12/2018 06:30
