Just something I'm interested in.

Lene Marlin - A Place Nearby
Darren Hayes - Darkness
Gareth Emery - Too Dark Tonight
Evanescence - Swimming Home
Frainbreeze & Lucid Blue - Light My Way
Missing Hours - Everything Will Be Alright

Just a handful of mine!

Luna, the smashing Pumpkins.

I can't listen to Missing at the moment, it hurts too much. Goddess that is such a sad song, the first time I heard it (age 17) I cried like a baby.
Swimming Home makes me think of The Little Mermaid (which may be the point.) It's a lovely song but not one of my favourites, likewise Understanding.
Although I forgot End Of The Dream and Lost In Paradise and Lithium...
"Dear Amy, your lyrics are amazing, but could you please stop writing songs that make me cry? Yours sincerely, Me..."

SimplySteve · 16/12/2018 23:53

Absolutely agree about Missing! What do you think of Understanding out of curiosity?

Have you listened to their earliest version of My Immortal? I love the lyrics of that one! I wonder why they changed it?

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 17/12/2018 00:34

Learn to be Lonely - Minnie Driver. Can't sing it without crying Blush

Corcra · 17/12/2018 00:44

Belle x1: Eve, the apple of my eye.
Wham: careless whisper.
George Michael: say you love me.
Gemma Hayes: back of my hand.

Commercial pressure I'd expect (My Immortal).

George Michael's I Can't Make You Love Me is on my list too.

Judeeee - completely agree about the Alan walker song, faded, everyone looks at me like I'm mad when I say it gets me emotional.

Always moved me but even more so since he passed - George Michael kissing a fool.

Wires - athlete wasn't particularly aware until a similar thread ages ago. Dd was very poorly when born and in scbu, with tubes and iv drugs etc and this song describes the feelings of a parent in that situation so well.

Especially "down corridors, through automatic doors" I had an emcs and from day one was going down to see her, navigating the maze of hospital corridors and pass coded doors.

Since seeing mamma Mia abba slipping through my fingers.

Too outing to state the songs, but there are 2 songs that were hits around the time I had my mc's and on radio loads at the time, they wouldn't necessarily be sad for others but I can't listen to them.

Kate bush & Peter Gabriel - don't give up. I suffer from horrific mh issues, my friends are my family due to having been an army brat, they've (some) been there for me when I've been at my very lowest. So "don't give up you still have friends" also lyrics about moving around, constantly battling, fear of failure...

Elbow - one day like this - moving in an uplifting way.

Evanescence - my eternal

Johnny cash - hurt - especially after how it was used in person of interest.

Joni Mitchell - both sides now

Jeff Buckley - hallelujah - personal reasons

SimplySteve · 17/12/2018 09:51

This is going to be incredibly outing as this is a song very few have heard, but has been my anthem since I've been trying to come to terms with my childhood.

Missing Hours - Everything Will Be Alright
