So so so embarrassing, I’m actually at the office Christmas party and managed to be last in to be seated and there wasn’t a seat or anyone to sit with and I know I should be brave and insist some random strangers make room for me but instead I’m hiding outside in the bar not getting a Christmas meal and trying not to cry #introvert

Oh no.

Call an Uber and make a quick getaway love.

EssexMummy123456 · 14/12/2018 20:14

I wish I could but I’m 2 hours away from home

Sod that. Grab a seat from the bar and ask people to shove up. Howay man lass.Flowers

ComtesseDeSpair · 14/12/2018 20:15

Random strangers? Why can’t you ask colleagues you know / your team?

Agree, if you really don’t feel it, just feign illness and go home, but if you’ve been looking forward to it, it seems a shame. Are you an anxious person generally? I do feel for you if so.

Ohyesiam · 14/12/2018 20:15

Do you want to go in? If not an Uber is the way.

EssexMummy123456 · 14/12/2018 20:15

Awful and stupid moment huh

Bad Christmas Party management by whoever sorted it out, surely that should have sorted a seat for everyone? If you arent going to go in then go home have a few wines and if anyone mentions it on Monday pretend you had a childcare problem and couldnt come.

missmouse101 · 14/12/2018 20:15

I'd leave them to it and go and have fun with some friends somewhere else!

Atalune · 14/12/2018 20:16

Oh dear....

Option 1-
Neck a shot of southern comfort and stride in up to your friends and say- yikes I went to the ladies, budge up!

Option 2-
Text friend who is inside to come fetch you in and seat you together

Option 3 Get some chips and go home. Don’t overthink it and have a nice evening in

Ask a waiter to sort you out a place at a table with people you know. You can do it 👍

FlyingCat · 14/12/2018 20:16

Is there someo e nice or a potential ally at the table? Or failing that your manager that you could text and ask them to help you out?

TheyBuiltThePyramids · 14/12/2018 20:17

How did you plan to get home after?

Monr0e · 14/12/2018 20:17

Bless you OP, are you ok?

Please don't miss out on your Christmas party. Is there a colleague you are close to who you are comfortable maybe getting to speak up for you? Or can you be brave and go back in and make them aware?

RippleEffects · 14/12/2018 20:17

Could you ask the bar staff to sort a chair for you near someone you know? Maybe they can do the loud shuffling people and you can cooly breeze in and sit down.

Deep breaths. You can do this.

chickhonhoneybabe · 14/12/2018 20:19

Speak to the staff and get them to seat you near a work friend/colleague or even your boss/manager

mammmamia · 14/12/2018 20:24

You can do it. It will be over in seconds, no one will bat an eyelid and you’ll be seated and tucking in before you know it. Go on.

Imaystillbedrunk · 14/12/2018 20:29

Everyone will be mortified that you've been hidden at the bar and not asked them to shove up. They've just not noticed. Just walk over to someone you know and mention it. No one will mind. They'd rather you be there.

DoveSecret · 14/12/2018 20:30

Go it, double gin and tonic and say “who fucked up the seating plan?” And squeeze in!

GO!

Polkasq · 14/12/2018 20:34

If you would like to join in, breeze back in with a smile and get the waiter to find you a place.

If you think you're in danger of bursting into tears then leave them to it, and treat yourself to something nice instead.

ButteryParsnips · 14/12/2018 20:35

Go in and say 'sorry I'm late, my phone rang and I had to take this long boring call - oh, are there no seats left? Can you make room please?'

babysharkah · 14/12/2018 20:36

Do you mean random strangers from your work or complete random strangers? Ask the people you know to budge up.

Do it!!

Polkasq · 14/12/2018 20:36

Or.... phone the venue up from where you are, tell them there is supposed to be a seat for you and please can they get one ready for when you are back in 5 minutes!

Wooooooooaaaaaaaahhhhhhh · 14/12/2018 20:44

Why insist random strangers? Can you not grab a member of staff and make them make room for you with your colleagues?

Or do I not quite understand?

Dimsumlosesum · 14/12/2018 20:46

Can you not get in at the xmas party and ask waiter for a seat? (fellow introvert feelling your pain)

Secretisout · 14/12/2018 20:47

Go back OP. X
