Is there anybody here who voted 'leave' who now regrets it?

Just wondering.

I'm generally not a very political person but seeing the total mess which seems to have been created by the government following through on the vote to leave the EU.

I think that the sane thing is to say 'OK we made a mistake, please can we stay in the EU.

I guess they won't because it's following through on the vote.

I know a lot of people are saying there should be a second vote, but I think these are people who voted to remain in the first place.

I was wondering if there would be any backing for a second referendum (or simply a let's forget brexit) from anyone who originally voted to leave. Maybe it's not delivering as you expected? Do you think that the pro-brexit politicians misrepresented things to you and you'd vote differently if you had a second chance?

(PS name change if you're embarrassed !)

You've cost the country billions, turned us into an international laughing stock and given an enormous boost to the racist far right, not something I'd be proud of

Send that memo to Tony Blair & Gordon Brown.

They took the piss out of their core voters & are paying the price.

MrsGollach · 13/12/2018 09:38

I voted leave. No regrets, just wish they'd get on with it.

Fully agree

We can only hope that anyone who is blustering about scaremongering and no deal and leave now etc, is quietly making their own preparations at home just in case.

user1471448556 · 13/12/2018 09:41

Maryjoyce - nope, I just happen to believe 'experts' - you know ... the people who actually work in customs, logistics, medical supplies, water treatment, etc. They are concerned about a No deal Brexit and the implications. Hope you've stockpiled any medicine you might need in case you get your No Deal Brexit.

Maryjoyce · 13/12/2018 09:43

Your Living in fantasy land lol

Maryjoyce · 13/12/2018 09:45

You think the only people that make all this rubbish are in Europe do you lol you don’t think we can buy it from anyone else probably at half the cost since most of it is made in China and gets repackaged lol

user1471448556 · 13/12/2018 09:46

Fantasy land = 350M for the NHS, the easiest deal in history, a Brexit dividend

themoomoo · 13/12/2018 09:52

user please give over with the bus thing. It didn't actually say all that money would go to the NHS. Read things a bit more carefully

user1471448556 · 13/12/2018 09:53

Maryjoyce a shipment from China takes six weeks to get the the UK. Airfreight is extremely expensive. Medicines and water treatment chemicals need to be kept at stable temperatures.

Maryjoyce · 13/12/2018 09:55

It comes from there already lol

Maryjoyce · 13/12/2018 09:56

More thick than I originally thought

user1471448556 · 13/12/2018 09:57

Maryjoyce what 'comes from there already'?

themoomoo · 13/12/2018 09:57

I'm still waiting for someone to tell me how the lead up to brexit has impacted their own personal lives. Many are saying it's already screwed the country but no one seems to have been affected personally. Strange

user1471448556 · 13/12/2018 10:01

themoomoo I quote the bus because several leavers in my family site this as the reason they voted leave. They believed the money would go to the NHS.

themoomoo · 13/12/2018 10:02

user most intelligent people didn't think that. I guess there's the slightly dim on both sides

Maryjoyce · 13/12/2018 10:03

Huge amounts of medicines and water treatment chemical products along with millions of other products come from there and many are repackaged in Europe and sold at a vastly inflated price. So cut out the middle rip off and hey presto it’s cheaper

maxthemartian · 13/12/2018 10:08

Your Living in fantasy land lol

It's you're not your. Lol.

user1471448556 · 13/12/2018 10:09

Maryjoyce if you really think that medicines and water treatment chemicals will be cheaper if we crash out and have a whole new world of pain regarding customs and tariffs to negotiate on top of a weaker pound, then perhaps you need to revisit your comment about people being thick.

MakeAHouseAHome · 13/12/2018 10:21

Voted leave. Would vote leave again. Want a Hard Brexit/No Deal.

bigKiteFlying · 13/12/2018 10:24

I think a lot of people would vote differently knowing what they know now.

My IL voted reamin now they've said they'd vote leave - they want it done and don't believe any neagtive stories.

They've book a holiday over leave period - they'll fly out before but are due to return just after.

Alfie190 · 13/12/2018 10:47

User. Your family must be a bit simple, not understand what the difference between a general election and a referendum is, but mainly they cannot read properly.

I voted leave, would do so again. I think the sooner we are out the better and just need to get on with it.

bellinisurge · 13/12/2018 10:52

I also wish we could just get in with it. That isn't some special Leaverveconomic theory. I voted Remain. Tbe only way to "get on with it" is to accept tbe Withdrawal Agreement, stop dicking about and start the transition to Leave in an orderly way. If there is s technological solution to the NI border , as Leavers claim, it will appear during the transition period and we won't need tbe backstop.

sherrysfortea · 13/12/2018 10:53

@themoomoo we are overloaded at work with planning applications from industries to relax their work hours and enable them to work over night in the months following brexit to deal with increased demand

Couple this with the fact that the conservatives have stripped local government to the bare bones and 1 person is now doing the job of 4 people, yes brexit is having a negative impact on me personally.

themoomoo · 13/12/2018 10:58

sherry how is the lead up to brexit affecting government funding for local government?
and your work situation regarding planning applications has no bearing on impact on you personally. It's just another example of people thinking their business will suffer post brexit ( though I'm confused as your post seems to imply these industries you deal with think they will have increased business post brexit. surely a good thing
