Costa or Starbucks?

Never been one to think of popping in somewhere to have a coffee but I did yesterday as I was tired, cold and my train was hours away. I had some fancy caramel thingy. Oh my word... it was amazing! But I think both shops can be a little on the pricey side.

Which one is better? Do they both have reward \ point cards?

Flat white from costa

BitchQueen90 · 09/12/2018 17:37

Costa for me. I have one once a week as a treat on my day off work. They are expensive but it's just a little luxury that I look forward to. And they have loyalty cards.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 09/12/2018 17:38

IMO Caffe Nero is much better than those two.
They have a loyalty card where every 10th drink is free

I prefer Costa to Starbucks but tend to support locally owned coffee shops rather than chains. There is Costa and a Starbucks near the station that I change in and will always pick the Costa over the Starbuck (both within walking distance).

JustanotherCHRISTMASuser01 · 09/12/2018 17:41

Costa for coffee for me, Starbucks for hot chocolate with a preference when possible of pret

userofthiswebsite · 09/12/2018 17:45

Wow I'm surprised you've not been in a Costa/Starbucks now and I say that as a non coffee drinker.

Stereomum · 09/12/2018 17:46

I prefer Costa to Starbucks.

GooodMythicalMorning · 09/12/2018 17:47

Costa. Love the praline hot choc at the moment. Its like melted ferrero rocher.

NotScrewingUpNow · 09/12/2018 17:47

Nero for the freebies

Violetroselily · 09/12/2018 17:50

I prefer Costa, but we have a subsidised Starbucks at work so I tend to have that more these days

Flamingosnbears · 09/12/2018 17:52

Costa all the way...

toolazytothinkofausername · 09/12/2018 17:52

Nero.

Dontbestupidagain · 09/12/2018 17:52

I'm really surprised by these answers. I can't drink Costa coffee at all it's rank. I'd have a Starbucks if I had a choice.

Lwmommy · 09/12/2018 17:53

Nero is the best loyalty schem, Costa is the best coffee. Starbucks is really bitter tasting.

Worieddd · 09/12/2018 17:57

Starbucks is really bitter tasting

Definitely this

LizzieBennettDarcy · 09/12/2018 17:59

Hate hate hate Costa. Something not right about their blend. Starbucks is better, but much preferred the US version.

Mossyhill · 09/12/2018 18:00

I had a hot choc from Starbucks this week (usually go for Costa if I have to choose) and it bloody horrible.

Mossyhill · 09/12/2018 18:01

It was*

mysteryfairy · 09/12/2018 18:03

Starbucks for me. Their loyalty scheme is a free drink every 15 purchases. Costas I think 5 points per £1 spend with each point worth 1p towards a drink. Both you can have the membership card on your phone.

Starbucks has a gold tier of membership after you buy 50 drinks in 12 months which gives you free syrup, cream, extra shots etc making any combination of coffee the price of a cheap basic one.

Sirzy · 09/12/2018 18:04

Costa.

And they have a rewards point thing

Velvetbee · 09/12/2018 18:05

Costa.

Chocolatebourbons · 09/12/2018 18:05

Costa. I find Starbucks sickly sweet, especially their hot chocolate.

greendale17 · 09/12/2018 18:06

Starbucks. Costa is fast becoming crap.

Angeladelight · 09/12/2018 18:07

I always used to go costa, then converted to Nero. The loyalty scheme is good if you go often enough, every 10th drink is free. I think with costa I’d get enough points for a free coffee after buying 20-30 coffees to build up points. I agree with pp that Starbucks is really quite bitter.

Toddlerteaplease · 09/12/2018 18:10

Costa had a horrible bitter coffee from Starbucks the other day.
