How old is too old?

What's your cut off point for a final baby? we have 1 DS whose 14 months. was born prem but seems ok! Took 18 months to conceive. I'm 32 and DH is 40. How long would you leave it if you wanted another child?

I'm having periods so I probably could conceive again but I'm not ready yet

Well..... I'm 39 and dh 46. And am currently snuggling with my 4 week old.
We have a 4.5 year gap between dd's due to 3 losses on way. I had almost decided I was too old.
The age gap we have is good now.

Everyone's different. My own personal cut off was 35 but I actually had my third & last baby at 33. Loads of women have babies in their 40s now. Just do what feels right to you. 32 is young!

I had my last baby at 42. I'm still having regular periods now at 49 so could in fact get pregnant if I wanted to although I can't think of anything worse to be honest...

my cut off is 35. dh has said he's started feeling 42 is his cut off so not too long!

Theoretically probably early 40s - DM had my sister at 42, so that's probably where my mental upper limit is.

In real life, 30. Because DD2 was the last - and I was 30!

I've just had my final baby at 32 but I started at 27 and he is number 3.

I think my cut off would be 37-38 if I'd have started later or wanted another (not happening)

When he's 60 the kid will be 18 and he's happy with that. Any older he won't be lol. I'm struggling with what to do. A part of me wants to leave it at 1

In my head, my cut off was 40, although I have friends who have had a baby at 44. Started trying at 32, but mine were born when I was 37 and 39. I'm now 41 and if we had the money I'd probably squeeze another one In, but we don't so we're done.

You could take the approach that you will just shag and see what happens. If it does and everyone's happy then congratulations. If it doesn't and you have already made peace with just the one then so be it.

Yeah I do believe it's different for men. I don't want to be pregnant at 40 I was knackered doing it at 30

I had mine at 37 and 42. Wasn’t ready earlier. Dp was 36 and 41. The children are now 22 and 17. No age related issues at all.

You're 32? I'd understand if you said 42 but I had my first at 34.

I had antenatal depression too and a prem birth so I need to consider the risks too.

I couldn’t be pregnant at 35 plus personally, it’s just so tough physically! Lots of respect for those that do though!

Lady I work with had her 4th at 46! Partner was a similar age.

My cut off is 40 but realistically I had my second and probably last child at 33. Sad (I would love another but dh is a firm no way)

Had my DD at 42. Wasn't ready before then. Didn't feel any more tired than I would have at 32; which is very young! You've got plenty of time for another.
