Went to see years and years recently and my god were they amazing, literally the best I’ve ever heard live. Blue had to be the worst for me...
Just wanted to know peoples Experiences....

@Moussemoose. He's playing London again next year. Have never seen him before but hope to next year... ☺

EastMidsGPs · 06/12/2018 20:55

Loads of great ones over the years. We were lucky to be young and solvent in late 70s and early 80s. Gig tickets were really cheap. At least once a week DH and I went all over the country in my clapped out Mini to see bands.

Also Rock City in Nottingham booked all the best and up and coming bands. So spent a good deal of our lives there!
Best ever was Prince 💖💖 in Edinburgh.
Worst ever had to be The Thompson Twins at Nottm Royal Concert Hall.

The most interesting one was REM at Nottingham Forest's City Ground, not because it was bad, on the contrary, it was great but it was raining so hard we waited with baited breath for Michael Stripe to get electrocuted. Roadies had to keep mopping the stage with towels!

Moussemoose · 06/12/2018 20:57

@Elderflower14 some rumours say he will some say not. If you get the chance to see him then sell family members into slavery to get tickets.

He is in another league and I've seen Queen, Sting, Peter Gabriel and loads of good acts.

HashTagLil · 06/12/2018 20:57

Best: Muse in Manchester. Got barrier and it was EPIC. Seen them live 4 times but this was the best one.

Worst: Not really had one tbh. Tickets, travel and accommodation cost to much to see random groups.

queribus · 06/12/2018 21:00

Best - Springsteen : Sheffield, earls Court, Paris and Broadway. Always fabulous.
Muse at the o2
Pulp at Cambridge Junction in early 1990s
Catherine Wheel in small pub somewhere in North London

Worst - pulp at Wembley arena - awful, soulless
Paul McCartney
Kingmaker

90mammasophie · 06/12/2018 21:09

I've enjoyed reading everyone's answers!

Best ... Pete Doherty in babyshambes 2005 at Brixton (not artistically but awesome vibe and crowd) ..and a small Jess Glynne gig at Camden Jazz Cafe this yr. Small venue and so chilled & close Star

Worst ... Probably Spice Girls at London 02 in 2007(ish) huge space and the show just didn't fill it. Lukewarm at very best and could barely see.

Screaminginsidemeagain · 06/12/2018 21:12

Best levellers travelled in mates older sisters campervan.
Worst Police at twickenham- so dull!

OccasionallyIncomplet · 06/12/2018 21:23

Best : Muse (Glastonbury 2010).

Worst: The Gorillas (Glastonbury 2010).

LizzieBennettDarcy · 06/12/2018 21:30

Coldplay - whether you love or hate them, they are the most amazing showmen on earth. We saw them 4 times on the Head full of dreams tour!! Just the music, lighting and pyrotechnics are amazing. We saw them on the Ghost Stories tour at the RAH in London, and it was spellbinding. I never wanted it to end, it was the combination of the sound, the atmosphere and the environment.

Worst..... Elton John, we paid around £120 each and it was beyond dire. It was a classical music and orchestra concert - he didn't play one single song we knew and both DH and I could have cried with disappointment. And he is no classical musician! At least half the audience had walked out before the end. I've never listened to another track of his since!! And The Human League.... jesus, those two women could NOT sing. My ears hurt for days after.

BackforGood · 06/12/2018 21:54

I saw the Police in about 1981 / 82 ish, and thought the same Screaming - really dull, no "show" at all. Could have been sat at home listening to a record and looking at a poster.
Really disappointing as really liked their music.

Processedpea · 06/12/2018 21:57

Best pixies at Brixton early 90s worse beautiful south also at Brixton late 80s they flounced off as someone threw a pint of beer on the stage, and they called us southern softies ;/

imnottoofussed · 06/12/2018 21:57

Best was James Bay at Manchester Albert Hall, it was amazing and I would love to repeat it. Worst was Will Young, mostly because I didn't really like him and don't know any of the songs.

Processedpea · 06/12/2018 21:59

Ooh doctor two agree about living colour also saw them at Brixton fab and loud still play them v underrated

TurquoiseWeekend · 06/12/2018 22:01

The best was the Foo Fighters in Milton Keynes a good few years ago now. They really know how to put on a show.
Closely followed by Kasabian's homecoming gig in Victoria Park, Leicester.

The worst I've ever been to was Ben Howard. No interaction at all with the crowd, other than to have a go at people for talking! Well he was so bloody rude and boring, I'm not surprised they were!

ToBeARockAndNotToRoll · 06/12/2018 22:04

Best - Prince.

Worst - I was lucky enough to watch Daphne & Celeste.

WWYDhelpplease · 06/12/2018 22:04

Best was Take That Circus tour a few years ago. Entire show was spectacular.

Worst was a Rod Stewart.

RusholmeRuffian · 06/12/2018 22:05

Best : Bruce Springsteen in too many venues to list over many years. Never let me down

Worst : Bob Dylan at Finsbury Park or Eminem at Reading Festival

KenDoddsDadsDog · 06/12/2018 22:07

Best
Stone Roses Phoenix Park Dublin - one of the first comeback gigs. The crowd were so happy , great night
Worst
1994 , Oasis were the up and coming thing . Two or three songs into Newcastle Riverside gig someone punched Noel in the face . And off they went. The gig that never happened !

ihateusernamess · 06/12/2018 22:13

Best: Green Day last year - so incredible

SinisterBumFacedCat · 06/12/2018 22:56

Best - Suede at a Hammersmith Apollo in September, always amazing live but just felt extra special. Also The Mssion at the Forum a couple of years ago, brilliant, and the support band, The 69 Eyes were amazing. I'm very happy the bands I was obsessed with in my teenage years are still going, I'm never happier than when I'm at a good gig! Also Mansun headlining the tent at Reading Festival were brilliant.

Worst - Stone Roses headlining the main stage at Reading were terrible, Ian Browns voice was a fog horn of doom. They split up not long afterwards. Primal Scream played the same song twice! But Oasis at Knebworth was most disappointing, the band were ok but very up themselves, it was rammed full right up to the back, there was not nearly enough floor space for the amount of people, you had to sell your kidney to get anywhere near the front so, there was an odd delay between the sound and what was happening on stage, probably due to the distance, it just felt like lots of people being ripped off. And then the car parking was so fucked we didn't get out of the park until 4am!

TattiePants · 06/12/2018 23:51

Best - getting last minute tickets to see Blur's reunion tour in 2009. It was at a smallish venue in Newcastle with loads of atmosphere. Also memorable as rumors started going round that Michael Jackson had died.

Never seen anyone terrible but have seen Red Hot Chili Peppers twice and been a bit disappointed both times.

Ursaminor · 07/12/2018 00:13

Best - Culture Club a few weeks ago! A tight, mature band with plenty extra singers and musicians to produce a full sound. All the old songs, and some great new ones. Good party atmosphere at the Hydro, Glasgow.

Worst - Dead or Alive, Edinburgh 1984 or 85. So aggressive towards the audience, who had paid good money to see them.

UsernamesSoHardToChoose · 07/12/2018 00:23

Worst was Badly Drawn Boy. He went off stage mid-way through a song for a cigarette!

whywhywhywhywhyyy · 07/12/2018 00:32

I used to work in a concert venue so got to see a lot while I was at work Grin

Best: BTS. Absolutely surreal watching the performance quality of those guys. Didn't understand a word of what they were singing but they were brill!

Worst: Fleetwood Mac. They're past it.

ILoveDaveGrohl · 07/12/2018 00:42

Best concert was Coldplay in the Etihad, although best live performance was the Foo's at glasto.

Haven't been to a bad concert but Kanye West was pretty dire a few years back at glasto too.
