Do you judge people who have dirt under their fingernails?

I do - I really dislike it whether it's a man or a woman. Even if it's only a tiny bit!

OP posts:
SoyDora · 28/11/2018 18:42

I never look closely enough at peoples nails to notice.

FurryDogMother · 28/11/2018 18:42

It depends - if they're a farmer or a gardener or someone else who gets their hands dirty at work, then no, of course not. If they're sitting opposite me in a restaurant, then yes!

Alienspaceship · 28/11/2018 18:42

Oh god yes!

Escolar · 28/11/2018 18:42

No! It probably just means they love gardening. I honestly wouldn't care at all (unless it was accompanied by stinky breath and terrible BO).

Yvbmioasp · 28/11/2018 18:42

I agree with you OP. Nail brushes are really cheap.

mimibunz · 28/11/2018 18:43

Yes, unless they work outside.

BettyCrook · 28/11/2018 18:43

You judge them as what? Dirty? work with their hands?

TimeWoundsAllHeals · 28/11/2018 18:43

Well at least no one can judge me for this, my nails are chewed to the quick.

gamerwidow · 28/11/2018 18:44

No because despite cleaning my fingernails several times a day I always seem to have dirt under them. I’ve no idea where it bloody comes from, I don’t even have a manual job. I hate fake nails though because I know although they look really nice at the front they’re usually filthy at the back because you can’t see the dirt. It puts me right off of getting them.

BettyCrook · 28/11/2018 18:44

nail brushes aren't good for your nail bed they can damage the skin underneath and spread infection.

Processedpea · 28/11/2018 18:45

No

DPotter · 28/11/2018 18:46

You wouldn't think much of me then - clue's in the name.......

Helmetbymidnight · 28/11/2018 18:46

what do you think it says about a person?

dudsville · 28/11/2018 18:46

There are many fine reasons for having dirty under your nails. My father was a builder and once went to his bank to make a deposit, it was the 1970's. The bank refused to serve him in his state having just left a job. He demanded all his money out on cash there on the spot. It was thousands. I always remember this when I feel tempted to judge.

Bezalelle · 28/11/2018 18:46

Makes me gip, if I'm honest.

SylviaAndSidney · 28/11/2018 18:47

I wouldn’t like them to stick their finger in my mouth, but judge them? No...

KatoPotato · 28/11/2018 18:54

gamerwidow my nails are the same, a beautician friend told me some people have low or loose nail beds and it's just some are more prone to collecting daily stuff!!

BlackBeltInChildWrangling · 28/11/2018 19:03

No, and I prefer them to nicotine stains or long talons.

Caprisunorange · 28/11/2018 19:04

Yes- instantly. It’s a pet hate

anewyear · 28/11/2018 19:08

My husband is a MechNic..Cars to be precise, even tho he showers daily, there is still a small residue left, even with a nail brush..
what do you suggest he does exactly?

MaFleur · 28/11/2018 19:10

Yes, unless it is obviously from gardening or work. General filth makes me gag.

Miljah · 28/11/2018 19:11

Cleaning under you nails all the time makes the problem worse! You open up the gap so more dirt gets trapped.

A580Hojas · 28/11/2018 19:11

Not if they have a dirty job like gardener or engineer. Any other adult - yes, although you hardly see it these days? So many manual jobs gone Sad.

eggncress · 28/11/2018 19:13

No, wouldn’t judge but if you can see the dirt you at least know they’re dirty.

False nails and long nails on the other hand ( especially varnished) may look clean and well groomed but are more than likely absolutely filthy.

Bestseller · 28/11/2018 19:15

Someone once said "oooh you've got hardworking hands" after shaking my hand. I took it as a complement Grin
