Forget the job titles what is it you actually do?

I sit on my bottom for 10hrs looking very closely at things whilst listening to talking books and drinking tea 😁

Sitting at my desk, surrounded by lots of stuff (junk) and the odd treasure. Looking on spread sheets where all that stuff came from and allocation to the right department by placing it all neatly wrapped in a box to be sent on it find new homes ... (I work for a large charity with donated goods... supposedly the "posh" end.)

Flynnshine · 26/11/2018 18:41

@StillSmallVoice Snap!

Ylvamoon · 26/11/2018 18:41

Grin should day find new homes...

HollySwift · 26/11/2018 18:43

I organise 5 people’s entire lives including where everyone needs to be, ensuring they have whatever food/clothing they need, cleaning up after ALL of them, cooking and buying them stuff they require.

I also occasionally fill a day with sitting in Costa gossiping and give zero fucks about this activity.

SAHM. Grin

Is anyone else a bit worried about Greenandcabbagelooking

What if their job is standing in front of something heavy, and it fell on them mid-sentence?

claracluck78 · 26/11/2018 18:48

I spend lots of time looking at people's treasured items and often have to disappoint them with lower values than expected

I then spend time writing lovely catalogue descriptions and researching

Then I basically try to sell items for the most money possible

I'm an auctioneer and valuer and I love it!

Winterhatsandgloves · 26/11/2018 18:52

Tell people how lovely they are and boost their egos. Quietly correct their mistakes and kindly don't say anything unless provoked. Look at spreadsheets and raise my eyebrows at various expenses.
Listen to people's work and personal problems and never repeat them ever unless asked to. Or if they are unwell/ overwhelmed but even then am very discreet.

I know how to get things done depending on who is doing it. Chat and be nice to co workers and help smooth over niggles.

Come home stressed at having to be nice all day:)

Job one: I do my utmost best to survive. I pay all the bills, go shopping for food and just doing my best. (Survive each day)

Job two: I open bags of stuff. Often "rag" things away because they are dirty, smelly or just awful. I then label them. Going through folders checking names against numbers and then using those labels. Then hang them up on a rail making sure the correct size is on the label. (I am a volunteer for a local charity shop)

cropcirclesinthefields · 26/11/2018 19:14

I put stickers on boxes, apologise for things that are not my fault, make sure people have the things they need to keep them alive and make them better.

I'm a medicine dispenser

NoCryingInEngineering · 26/11/2018 19:26

I do the same as Gizlotsmum

Cailleach · 26/11/2018 20:11

Take box off pallet, label. Restack. Wrap. Label pallet. Ensure quantities correct Vs order billet. Flag up missing stock.

Rinse, repeat.

FithColumnist · 26/11/2018 20:17

I tell people they can't have a council house and that they need to start taking responsibility for their own lives.

insancerre · 26/11/2018 20:23

I tidy up after dozens of small people
I play with play dough and duplo
I tell people not to pick their nose or lick their shoes

iLoveFoood · 26/11/2018 20:25

I spend my time telling people if they are or are not getting a medical card.

I spend my time telling people their medical card has expired without their knowing and they must pay €60 to visit the doctor or suffer.

Help trained professionals force people to sleep and cut them open for the sake of their health or vanity Grin

Accountant222 · 26/11/2018 20:33

I look at numbers, nag people for paperwork which could reduce their taxes, I facilitate HMRC to collect tax : (

Inkspellme · 26/11/2018 20:49

I sing songs with a large group of people where I am the oldest in the room by nearly half a century- these songs involve actions and some sign language. I also encourage these people to wipe their noses, not to hit each other, not to use colouring tools on the furniture, to eat their lunches, to make colored paper art often in the shape of animals. I also help these people with bags and coats. These bags often have super heroes, Disney princesses or paw patrol characters on them. So do the people’s clothes. Sometimes I remind the people to go to the toilet. There is always the danger of vomiting, incontinence and being shown bogers from noses. Occasionally I may need to admire the persons faceas in the Toilet. I also get the best hugs, great company and all round good fun day from being with these people.

Franksinatra · 26/11/2018 21:13

I tell people where to do their job, then rearrange it all when some of them refuse to work with others. That is not my main role, but seems to be mostly what I do all day at the moment. Those people then work with much smaller people, and I often wonder which group is the under 5s and which is the satff. Smile

I love this thread

galaxy101 · 26/11/2018 21:18

I drive round all day sticking needles in people.

bettyberet · 26/11/2018 21:20

I'm Kirstie Allsopp.... but for homeless people.

KatharinaRosalie · 26/11/2018 21:28

I figure out how people can do what they want to do without bankrupting the company and/or going to prison. (in-house lawyer)

AmmoniteMum · 26/11/2018 21:48

Currently on a break to help my dd with her anxiety but I make 3D digital models of rock layers under ground and occasionally get to look at fossils (my favourite bit).

Livedandlearned2 · 26/11/2018 22:01

I go to people's homes, sometimes tidy up, usually sweep up, hoover and mop. I dust every area I can, I change their sheets on at least one bed. I often hang out their washing, iron their clothes. Feed a cat or two, take in parcels. Leave their home looking amazing so they can return from work and relax.

I wish someone would do this for me.

Thecomfortador · 26/11/2018 22:11

Normally I talk to people who say they want to stop putting addictive substances into their body.

Atm, I mostly clean up bodily (and non voldily) fluids from a toddler and a baby.
