How many pairs of PJs do your DC have?

GreedyBastard · 21/11/2018 16:45

I have done a massive clearout today of kids clothes ect. I was going to buy both DC some new PJs this week but now ive got to the bottom of the wash basket all dried and put away Blush

They have
DC3 8 pairs
DD18months 6 pairs
Now surely this is enough! Why does it always feel like they have none?

Had me wondering how many PJs have your DC got?

Wow, I can't believe how many PJ's MN's kids have!! Mine have a couple each. Are the all unwanted presents or do they actually need all of those?

Boatsnack3 · 21/11/2018 21:04

We change pjs every night. Off the top of my head I'd say about 10 changes so maybe 5 nightdresses, 2 long sleeve, long leg and 3 short sleeve, short leg. Some will head for the charity bag now it's winter and I'll swap for more winter pjs. She will get new ones for a planned hospital stay in December and then she'll probably get several pairs as gifts at Christmas too.

Boatsnack3 · 21/11/2018 21:05

I own more pjs than outside clothes I love jammies Grin

DS1 (12yr) 1 pair but doesn't wear them
DS2 (8yr) none because he doesn't wear them.

GoldenHoops · 21/11/2018 21:11

3 pairs and a onesie each. Except for Ds1, he wears boxers and wouldn't be seen dead in a onesie

Crunchymum · 21/11/2018 22:07

Mine have about 6-8 pairs each (6 and 4) the baby is still in babygrows and has loads.

I change them everyday.

mummytooneprincess · 21/11/2018 22:17

My daughter has 7 pairs. I have to change them everyday - she's two and sucks her sleeves all night so they are minging by the morning!

SoftSheen · 21/11/2018 22:21

DD (7) has 5 pairs and DS (3) has 4 pairs. They'll get an extra pair each for Christmas.

LettuceP · 21/11/2018 22:22

DD 3yo has 4 pairs that are okay for winter and her summer ones were too small so I got rid of them and will have to buy new ones next year.
DS 7mo has 5 sleepsuits.

SoftSheen · 21/11/2018 22:23

We change PJs every second day. DCs have a bath before bed and get dressed before breakfast so they never get dirty.

AppleKatie · 21/11/2018 22:24

Young DC.
3 pairs.

1 to wear, 1 in the wash, 1 in the drawer in case of nighttime accident.

Why would he need more?

TealTurnip · 21/11/2018 22:26

Three pairs. But old T-shirts and leggings that are starting to get too short also function as emergency pyjamas on the rare occasion that all three pairs are in the wash.

Howhot · 21/11/2018 22:28

DS has at least 10, none of them fit well! . A mix of summer and winter. He seems to out grow them quickly or I shrink them? I don't shrink anything else but his PJs start to resemble crop tops and he starts flashing his bum in them quite quickly...

hmmwhatatodo · 21/11/2018 22:32

One pair. I feel bad about this but I can’t seem to justify spending at least £12 on something to wear in bed when old T-shirt’s and pants/jogging bottoms can be worn. I do like the idea of nice pyjamas for bed so 3 pairs would be an ideal number I think.

MsNowtyBach · 21/11/2018 22:37

We all have about 10 sets each, but we all have a fresh set every night.

SumitosIsMyWall · 21/11/2018 22:49

Probably close to 20 pairs each. But they have clean ones every night and there's a variety of short/long/fleecy available.

I still get asked "have I got clean jamas?" on a daily basis because apparently their bedroom drawers are only accessible to me!!

Stuckforthefourthtime · 22/11/2018 11:36

Clean pyjamas every day? Shock They're not getting dirty (the lady with a sleeve-sucking daughter aside), it's such a waste of water and cotton and energy. Surely at least every other day would be ok?

AhoyDelBoy · 22/11/2018 11:46

14 mo DD only has three pairs of summer PJs (spring here at the moment) and one winter pair that fit incase we have a cold night 🤷🏼‍♀️ Some of these amounts seem excessive tbh. I guess as she gets older things will fit for longer and that’s how they build up. She has 6-12 mo PJs from winter that might still fit now but obviously they won’t next winter.

SumitosIsMyWall · 22/11/2018 11:59

Clean pyjamas every day? They're not getting dirty my girls sweat in their sleep. I wouldn't wear clothes with stale sweat on them so don't expect my children to. As they wear PJs it's a better option to wash those than to strip their beds every day to wash instead.

I don't need to justify my green credentials to you but I can assure you as someone who works in the industry our 'footprint' on the world is far smaller than average so we allow ourselves clean clothes/PJs.

Lunalula · 22/11/2018 12:02

My Ds 3yo has 6pairs of PJs, we change them every 3 days because he literally puts them on the minute before he goes to bed and takes them off when he wakes up (before having breakfast)
My dd 11mo has maybe 8 sleepsuits. I change these every 1-2 days though.
Washing is crazy in this house though.

SumitosIsMyWall · 22/11/2018 12:02

Yep - my eldest can still fit in clothes 3 years younger than her age but keeps being bought new PJs for birthdays/Christmas etc which I maintain is still better than plastic tat and the youngest inherits all the ones that no longer fit the eldest. I don't believe in throwing things out until they are past their use so we have an abundance of PJs. If they make it past both my girls in good condition they get passed onto the charity shop.

TrashPanda · 22/11/2018 12:08

9 year old has 1 long set, 2 short sets and 2 pairs of just long bottoms but usually just wears pants to bed.

3 year old has 7 long sets and 3 short sets, some new and some handed down.

8 month old has 3 pairs of actual pjs we use sometimes, but we also use sleepsuits or vests depending on temperature, whether he's in his sleeping bag or bedsharing with me.

I have about 15 pairs plus 5 just bottoms and a nightshirt Blush

Eatmycheese · 22/11/2018 12:09

One year old DS2 just out of sleepsuits as too mobile, so now has pjs : about 9 pairs
Almost three year old DD: lost count. She is obsessed with them.
Four year old DS1: roughly 10 pairs

Bluelonerose · 22/11/2018 12:11

15 year old ds1 1 pair which he only wears in the morning before he gets dressed.
14 year old dd millions
8 year old ds2 1 onesie.

Ds2 lives in boxers if he's at home and ds1 prefers being dressed.
The all get new one Xmas eve so I can take the traditional Xmas eve photo of them all showered and in new pjs Grin

TrashPanda · 22/11/2018 12:12

Oh and I don't actually wear any of them to bed which is what makes it quite so Blush Used to wear nothing but now just clean knickers so breastfed baby has access to boobs but doesn't rip my pubes out with his toes Grin sorry for him!
