I love tinsel, especially the pretty thin stuff like the tinsel of my childhood. I live in a fairly small flat so I currently have a lovely Balsam Hill twig tree, it looks like a fairy lit willow and doesn't need tinsel so I just decorate it with baubles and the like.

If i move somewhere bigger and have a traditional tree again then the tinsel will be back Grin

Tinsel definitely not. Lametta definitely yes! I was looking for that stuff for years and didn't know what it was called, so this year for the first time my tree will have lametta. Love it!

Cherrysherbet · 21/11/2018 20:02

Yes. Love tinsel. It reminds me of my childhood.

PumpkinKitty82 · 21/11/2018 20:09

Hell to the no

Momasita · 21/11/2018 20:15

Yes yes and yes again.

AllTakenSoRubbishUsername · 21/11/2018 20:22

Never, noooo! Baubles and lights only. But the kids chose tinsel for their bedroom trees and they like to swamp it, no problem with that Wink

Didsomeonesaybunny · 21/11/2018 20:25

I’m really not a fan

Nanalisa60 · 21/11/2018 21:01

FeckingEjit I'm a lights, baubles and beads kind of tree decorator!! That’s me as well !!

BillThePony · 21/11/2018 21:01

Togaandsandals · 21/11/2018 21:45

Milliy · 21/11/2018 22:01

Me- no!

Milliy · 21/11/2018 22:03

Real tree and scandi type decorations with warm fairy lights. Had the tinsel years ago and all the extras but now prefer less is more

VanGoghsDog · 21/11/2018 22:23

"bedroom trees"......smh

OrigamiZoo · 21/11/2018 22:28

Skinny tinsel is the best, fat tinsel obscures the lights and baubles!

ReflectionsofParadise · 21/11/2018 23:23

Tinsel no. Never. Lametta - yes!!

Angeliki159 · 21/11/2018 23:36

Tinsel makes my skin crawl.
Hate the look, sound and feel of tinsel shudder
DH puts tinsel on his little tree on his desk but it doesn't go anywhere else in the house

Japanesejazz · 21/11/2018 23:37

Which tree?

1forAll74 · 22/11/2018 00:39

Well, look here, I have had 50 years of tinsel on trees,, its quite nice really, but I don't have a tree anymore. I live alone, and still have some old tinsel,in red and green, so I put it around the brass fender of my wood burning stove.and have a few lights in the window, and that's it.

I don't know if anyone would remember this, but years and years ago, people had a kind of strip of plastic string thing around the Christmas trees, and there were little cup things along it,in which you put a little candle. then you would light all the candles on the tree at night.

No, it looks, feels, smells and sounds horrible! Dc1 also appears to hate the feel of it at 2 years. Perhaps I might need to put some on to deter him from the tree.

liquidrevolution · 22/11/2018 09:17

I have a wire garland with little stars on. Have been trying to track more down and found it is called tinsel in most descriptions. Its not tacky at all though.

The proper fat tinsel is for draping over pictures on the wall imo.

MulticolourMophead · 22/11/2018 09:31

I add some tinsel to the tree to fill in the central areas around the stem, with my baubles hanging nicely along the outer ends of branches.

Ilikeknitting · 22/11/2018 09:36

For Christmas my moto becomes ‘more is more’ . Although in the name of good taste I do stick to one colour.

Previous years I have decorated my tree in lilac and silver, black and gold, pink and white and always had baubles and tinsel to match or compliment each other, but yes to tinsel.
