How old is the oldest person you know? Not someone you’ve heard about, but someone actually known to you.

I know an 89 year old but no one older.

I know several people in their 90s.
One lovely couple at my Church have recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary which is the only couple I know who have been lucky enough to do that.
We lost one member of our congregation last year who was 102 and a half Smile

My granny is about 96 I think. Definitely in her 90s. I think she’s surviving on piss and vinegar nowadays Grin

I’m surrounded by nonagenarians. My mother is 94 and living fairly independently - own home, no carers. Neighbour who delivers the parish newsletters is 98 and gave up driving last yearv(thank goodness). A couple at church have just celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary. My neighbours along the road are only early nineties and are thinking of selling their yacht but still drive. They walk 8 miles to the pub and back for a meal quite regularly.
My daughter looked after someone who was 113 but they have now died.

A guy I used to do a voluntary activity with, who is 93. We were incredibly sad when he had to give it up ecause of memory problems.

My DH's gran died last week at 94. Both my grandmothers lived to great ages too - Granny H was 98 (although she was bedridden due to a stroke and broken hip for the last few years Sad) and Babcia was 102 when a random virus struck her down. She was pretty good and only needed a home in the last year of her life.

A friend’s dad is 91 and mentally very sharp but physically frail now. He is a great raconteur and has fabulous wartime stories and tales of his adventures in the mountains.

wowfudge · 18/11/2018 08:51

We have a 98 year old great auntie.

starrynight19 · 18/11/2018 08:59

My gran is 96 and my nan turns 90 today and she is having a party.
They both live at home independently. Both with sharp minds but they talk of how difficult it is when the body can’t keep up with the mind.

Great aunt died a couple of years ago aged 102. Still lived in the house she was born in, never married, had kids, mainly had caring responsibilities for her mother and sisters.

Partridgeamongstthepigeons · 18/11/2018 10:15

Friend of my dad's is approaching 103

Dowser · 18/11/2018 13:06

I can’t think of anyone ‘I know ‘
My mums neighbour died last year aged 96 with all her faculties
I can’t think of anyone else remotely near that
I have two male cousins I never see who are 75 and 73 and a frail neighbour who is 86
That’s it

BlueUggs · 18/11/2018 13:09

My grandad is 99....he'll be 100 in March.
Lives alone. Has a cleaner and we take him shopping once a week which he does alone.
Stopped driving about 3 years ago.

huggybear · 18/11/2018 13:13

Husbands grandmother, who is 93. She came to our wedding this year and stayed at the reception until they called last orders just before midnight - she’s incredible!

Murinae · 18/11/2018 13:17

My MIL is 89 and my neighbour’s sister is 92 and her brother 94 I see both regularly walking up and down the lane from our neighbour’s house to theirs. Neighbour is the youngest sibling at 87.
